I really love this song whenever I play Super Robot Taisen J when I was a kid. I always pick all of their robot to fight just so I could listen to this song. I knew I could change other robot’s theme to this one but It doesn’t feel right to see other robot fight with this theme

Thanks so much for this! There’s one part of the song that did confuse me, that I’d love an explanation on. So the song title: you’ve kindly provided both it in Japanese and English. Melos no youni, and Lonely way respectively. So that would lead me to assume that Melos part probably correlates to one of the English words in the title, so then, I had a question about a specific line later in the song: In the line “Run like Melos”, would it in turn be safe to assume that Melos could be translated to english? If it doesn’t make sense to translate Melos to English because it’s one of those things that wouldn’t make sense and so is best left in Japanese, no biggie, that makes sense to me I’ve seen some other anime ops with words that can’t really be translated so they just don’t (I’ve seen a lot of Kyoto animation shows that do that. And even the dub’s songs just uses the Japanese word)
@@auralunaprettycure Not really. Melos is the name of a character from a classic Japanese short story titled "Run, Melos!" by Osamu Dazai. Every Japanese child reads it in school, so any Japanese viewer would get the reference. Kinda like anyone from an English speaking country would get a Romeo and Juliet reference. So it's not that Melos isn't translated because it's best left in Japanese, it's not translated because it's a name.
Even a while after I finished watching Layzner, this song is still stuck in my head. Every listen after a while almost feels like listening to it the first time. I even forget the proper octave the song is in rather often.

This song's been stuck in my head lately. Mostly because I have been watching Layzner, for sure, but there's another reason that I can't quite put my hands on.
@@doggerlander I don't highly recommend it, but I think it's still somewhat worth watching. The first half is a bit slow, but the second half is where it picks up. Sadly, it's cancelled early due to bad ratings, causing the last 5 or so episodes to be quite a mess plot-wise.
Shin SRW ? every SRW does seem to have some units that are... untouchable. Like Macross's Valkyries, Orgus, Brain Powerd, Ninja Tobikage, Nu Gundam (Amuro), etc.

This one is awesome! It’s got a really beautiful story and a lot of soul to it, that much can be felt from the OP, especially the TV size version which even has character dialogue interrupt the song at points (love when anime do that!) So, speaking as someone who has seen quite a bit of mecha (although not nearly enough I still have so many to watch!!) I do have a few shows I’ve finished that I’d suggest for your backlog lol So along with this one, things I’d recommend for the list if you haven’t seen them already: Dunbine (1983) Giant Gorg (1984) Giant Robo (1992) Escaflowne (1994) Rayearth (1994) Betterman (1999) Brigadoon (2000) Big O (2004) Seen em all and they’re amazing

@@auralunaprettycure Nah, you're good. I fell off of watching stuff around that time, but all those shows were basically on my list. I still try to watch episodes of Rayearth whenever I remember to. I should at least finish Giant Robo, The Big O, and Rayearth since left them hanging halfway through.

Was just about to offer Dragonar, Votoms and Galiant World up for this list, but was then glad to see other comments down here praising em too ^^ A good list from the OG commenter too! There’s one part of the list that reminded me of something I was always curious about. I love Head Cha-La as much as much as next guy but there’s something that always confuses me whenever I encounter it anywhere: why does it sound so... garbled? I don’t mean that the song is bad, no it’s fantastic, but what I mean is, no matter what place I watch DBZ on the song has absolute garbled audio quality. I thought maybe that it was just the place I was listening on, must’ve had a low quality version but no, seemingly even official remasters have low quality audio. I’ve heard from some people that Toei lost the original versions of some of their shows and so they kinda had to scrap something together for remastering dbz, basically just trying to modify some low quality footage for the remaster. Does this have something to do with why Head Cha La sounds so much like it’s in a tin can? Lol
wolffebane D iirc they did have an on-board AI named ALICE in the Sentinel novel, but I heard that Sunrise/Bandai doesn't hold the rights to the characters or stories, just suits That's why you see Sentinel model kits and such and Zeta Plus in UC 7 but no mention of Sentinel from Sunrise ever.
Mattman324 Oh, really? Sorry, I don't know as much about Macross as I should, I've only read the Robotech novels, and that's not exactly the most accurate adaptation. But yea, Layzner joins up on the same mission as the Frontier guys.
Layzner doesn't even feature transforming mechs. The closest it ever got was Layzner Mk-II, which was never featured in the show because of it's cancellation.

I thought so, too, but I don't think it's the same creator. I think the creator was part of the crew for Stardust Memory, though, which explains "Layzner" being a name in both, though of wildly different things.
