Wayne, as a marching member of this corps, you should know that we put this show together in 6 days. Some members of the corps never marched The Blue Devils let alone Drum Corps. Of course it's going to be dirty, but we did this as an exhibition. Our purpose wasn't to be a competitive show but to entertain an audience. Also, this was our first in Europe, cut us some slack. :-)
That was fantastic. Even after just a few days of rehearsal, such high quality and level of difficulty. Probably the best corps to ever march in Europe.
It was a neat performance. But of course not by any means the best corps that ever marched in Europe. We've had Madison Scouts, the 'real' Blue Devils and lots of really great corps on the World Music Contest, etc.
karel-willem Jaarsveld forgot about those two, and Madison came back and won in 1988. Speaking with members from that year, they said they left the US tour and learned the joy of performing for the audience in Europe. It worked. The guy who ran this BDI group said the level of individual talent in this group was probably the highest he had ever worked with and he's been on a BD staffer for a long time. Basically the group learned the show in a week and started performing. Start to finish, six weeks or so. Pretty amazing.
Camilo Rosas The brass arranger called it 'A Tribute to Blue Devils'. So, yes. They play 'old' Devils music. The music is outstanding. The show not so much.
karel-willem Jaarsveld Obviously, this is a group of talented kids with a few rehearsals under their belt...nothing like one of the top 4 DCI corps in terms of what they produce at DCI finals after weeks of refinement.
Don't be sorry. I wasn't very impressed either. But this is the results of days practice. Not of weeks or months. So, let's give them the credit they deserve.
WELL THEY SHOULD HAVE WAITED TILL THE SHOW WAS CXOMPLETE. BEFORE GOING OUT ON THE FIELD, AND YES I HAVE BEEN A SEVERAL WINNING CORPS. . IT,S MY THOUGHT OF THE SHOW AND IT WAS A MESS
It is mainly lively stand still. Show-wise they surely can't beat the best European corps. Watch the guard, listen to the pit, look al the design of the show. It's nice tattoo material, but not top DCE drum corps.
