It’s in the breeding (military grade) Malinois were bread to not back down. I have one and she’s the same way, I just say she’s fine until F-ed with, but if they draw her blood then all bets are off.
I have a belguim male .He's the same way .Very friendly with everyone including other dogs .But if violence is shown by anybody ,he corrects the potential assailants very quickly.Hes 11 years old now ,we go everywhere together.
@@dajourdixon5567 probably for the best, especially if you don’t have a lot of experience with intense breeds, they can be a handful. I joking call my Malinois a jackal! Lol! DSD? That short for Dutch Shepard?
I have a very friendly 10 year old 140 pound husky lab. We used to take him to breweries all the time. About 3 years ago while we were walking a small dog ran up and bit him on the face. He snapped back in defense and took about 5 tables and everyone's drinks with him. Owners cursed and tried to blame us. 0 accountability after watching their dog bite another one. Could have easily killed him.
Hate when ppl just laugh when their dog is being an asshole. I have a small intact cavalier. The most friendly dog in the world imo. When he gets thrown through the air by big aggressive dog and the owner thinks it’s funny I get some nasty thoughts.
Everyone blaming Canela for having a Malinois.... you're so dumb. The heeler started the whole thing. You obviously did not watch the whole video and see the Malinois be friendly to every dog.
Not wanting to tell you what to do, but still be careful because a leashed dog is much more on the defensive since they can’t run away. If multiple dogs come at them while they’re leashed they might attack to protect themselves
This is why I stopped going to dog parks, people don't take responsibility for their dog's behaviors. Majority of owners don't have a damn clue about dog behavior either. Enjoy your videos and breaking down of dog behavior, it could help so many people.
I ran into a guy that said "train your dog then" while my dog was overwelmed on a trail and his dog aproched and didnt leave till he did and he was like 12 feet away and he didnt even call his dog away while my dog freaked out as I tryed to stop her from biting...yeah people really don't know when to remove their dogs from a situation, my dog had recently been attacked by a dog on a trail too, and I was taking appropriate action, all other dogs have right of way to walk by before she does I stick myself between her and other dogs but do people listen? No...I even called out "shes not friendly" which means usually "your dogs gonna end in a bloody mess if you don't keep them away or on a leash" the area hsd rules if a dog was to be off leash, 1 a dog must obay commands given by owner 2 dog must not harrass or behave improperly 3 dog must not approach dogs or people and stay by their owners Dude had not followed any of those rules, and I would have kicked the dog if I could, like we said stay away from us, that means we will get aggressive too! We don't care! Like what the Fuck is someone gonna do on a trail of they say are alergic/scared of dogs? Because ive seen dogs on on leash only trails be off leash!
@@-touya_todoroki 100% People think that dogs inherently know proper social behavior, it is all learned behavior. Socialization is KEY and just dumping your dog into the dog park is not a recipe for success. Dogs needs boundaries, direction, security, and a leader. I've seen all kinds of dogs and dog owners at dog parks, and the pandemic has made these places much worse. People just need to take the time to learn how much responsibility a dog is and how important dog language is.
@@ptbruiser2243 dogs don’t learn how to over come aggression by staying home genius. There are a lot of people with uncontrolled “friendly” dogs that are always running at large in parks, and on trails. That’s a great way to lose a dog on a trail too, dog takes off after a coyote, wolf, bear, moose, or even a large Buck could spell certain doom, what if your trail is on open range and there a herd of cattle with Texas long horns around a blind corner, they can/will Gore a grizzly bear, what the hell you think they gonna do to your dog? .. use your bloody head and think fool!
@@ptbruiser2243 also it was only rulea for offleash (signs say follow rules or put on a leash) on leash the only rule is keep your dogs away from each other period, that's why theres a rule that offleash dogs must stay by their owner/not going up to others as owners with dogs on leash can only go so far when the other dog has free rein
Is this the same heeler that was bothering Canela like a year ago? I remember people were like "oh that heeler is so nice" etc but in my eyes it seemed like it was bothering Canela.
And by not doing what "you would do", he shows way more greatness and control. Cursing him would do more harm than anything else and is one of the dumbest ideas in that situation.
i don’t like dog parks, where pets are forced to interact with other dogs, whether they want to or not. There is always one pet owner who brings a dog, without any training or control over it.
you are way too passive dude. you need to tell these people to correct their dogs. yeah the owner is standing there, but so are you. you mentioned in your vids that you're "way too nice" i get that, but there's no harm in asserting yourself.
Good for Ronin. When a jerk owned does not correct his dog. Dog should be taken away. This is why I don't bother with dog parks. It only takes 1 jerk owner and your dog suffers.
I don't bother with dog parks either. There are so many bad owners who couldn't care less about socializing their dog. Even if my dog is a big one (Cane corso) I don't want to take the risk of a fight.
That heeler looked like he might have had a little chow or husky or something in him. One day he's going to try to take on one of those pit-types I saw walking around, and they might instruct him in polite dog etiquette.
agree...maybe for dachshunds, Poms, poodles, chihuahuas, Yorkies, and Corgis....but not big dogs...always dealing with dominant behaviors,,,male jealousy over females...doesn't take much to trigger...I prefer walking them...and I'm lucky enough to know someone who has a large field out in the county where I can let them run free....
Dogs benefit from social interaction. But yeah, there is always a bit of risk of bad owners. You just have to know your dog, be aware of what's going on and recognize risky situations in order to avoid them.
Ronin is a good boy 🐾 so much control 🙌 he did what he needed to do but this video just shows how many other dog owners just don't give a shit!! Unfortunately this happens to my husky and GSD and they get blamed for defending themselves even though they're on leash getting attacked by off leash dog's!!
Good boy Robin did what he should of, the heeler mix was instigator and the owner apparently doesn't know his dog and when it's appropriate to correct his dog, who did he call dumb ass?
I hate it when people with dogs have 0 understanding about their behaviour. I mean Ronin show a lot of restraint. The other dog would have gotten attacked a lot quicker by a whole lot of other dogs. The control you have over him is really something tho.
@@jg7923 No. My feelings are based on my experiences, not the media's. And a good pittie owner recognizes that there's a lot of bad pittie owners out there. As there are among all breeds and all dog owners.
I wouldn’t discount healers, they go face to face with big bulls all day long and win. That guy should have never let that dog get to that point. Healers are part dingo and can be very aggressive for their size and weight.
Did that guy seriously call you a d*** a**? He’s an idiot and that little dog of his started the whole issue. It also wouldn’t stand a chance. Dog parks are a love-hate relationship. They can be such a fun place to be but dogs can pick up on some really bad behavior as well. There always seems to be one person that always shows up with a dog that causes trouble. Every park has one.
Have a woman who keeps bringing her aggressive Akita and her small 3year old son into the big dog side of the park. She lets both of them run around unsupervised. Have told her how dangerous it is for her son. She laughs it off and continues to bring him even though it is against the rules of the park. Uggg. We leave every time she shows up.
It's honestly sad to see how people will get a dog and not bother to learn about their body language. Even the basics can be help so much. Especailly when you have a working breed like a blue heeler. Hyper energetic dog who is know to be a bit annoying towards other dogs. Just sad to see a bad owner.
i love how often your boy gives the side of his face to other dogs, he just really doesnt want any beef, and for an intact boy he's very tolerant of other dogs being dominant around him and his pack
This is why i dont like dog parks because you have people there that dont know how to properly train a dog and where im from there are a lot of Pitbulls with bad owners which is a nightmare!!
I have two Chinese cresteds, they know they have no chance lmao. They don't start shit with other dogs. That being said... my rats are the only small dogs I like 😂
Yep. Large part of the reason the dog continues to act this way is because the owner bails them out last second. They allow the posturing and dominance but interfere right as a fight breaks out - otherwise the dog would have learned its lesson by now.
The heeler was fine, and, I'm sure, is cool with leaving Ronin in peace from now on. It's the owner that needs trained up. Considering the owner's behavior, I wonder how much the heeler was reacting to the owner's dysfunctional energy.
This is an EXCELLENT video on reading your dog and other dogs body language. It is imperative that we learn this folks to prevent fights and god forbid injuries before they happen. The owner of the heeler was in the wrong. And i commend you for not saying anything to him because i certainly would have. I cannot stand owners like this who think this behavior is funny and playful. It can turn DEADLY SERIOUS on a dime. I scolded an owner of a German Shepard the other day while in my park. Because it was off lead and charged me and my Jack Russell. Granted my Jack is VERY dominant and can hold his own but not against a dog the size of a Shepard. I had to put myself in front of his dog who was trying to get around me and at my dog. I happen to carry a walking/hiking stick that has a steel circular tip on the end laced with "shark like" points. I told them man straight out you either leash you dog or it's going to get jabbed. He knew i was serious and finally leashed his dog. However, the point is it shouldn't have to come to that. And more people need to be respectful of others that have smaller dogs etc...Their is no doubt if his dog had lunged at my dog i would have struck it with my pole in it's head or eye. And that wouldn't have been a pretty outcome. I will do ANYTHING to defend my companion. As i know he's not big enough to handle it himself.
Most def! Im not that patient. I have a 6yr old pit, i have him well trained. He knows not to be aggressive and tries to avoid conflict. Sadly there are a lot of dog owners like this guy in the video that doesn't correct their dog's behavior and thats when my dog gets bothered and tells their dog to stop. Again if owner dont control their dog the first time and if their dog continues to show aggression towards my dog i definitely will say something.
Some people don't know how to conduct THEMSELVES properly in a dog park. If that blue heeler is mauled the owner would have been yelling and screaming. More like the blue heeler owner should get a good "talking" to by other owners in the park.
Oh my goodness! You've updated! I honestly enjoy watching your videos because they are very informative about dog behavior and very entertaining to watch as well. I love Canela and your other dogs. Honestly, people can be so irresponsible when it comes to properly training and teaching their dogs what not to do. Keep up the good work.
ive seen a few videos so far, but i think the hate comments are because "intact" male dogs do cause other dogs to have bigger problems than they otherwise would have. even a "decently" trained dog can become a mess when pushed into feeling uncomfortable/threatened by a dog donning cajones. Because many of these videos feature an un-nuetered ronin in a dog park with dogs who are more likely to have a problem with him (whether hes a good boy or not most of the times), People have a problem. im fairly neutral on the matter. i do enjoy the insight and breakdown of the behavior, but i also see what might be a pattern. there are more like to be issues because ronin is intact. I wont say "dont take him to dogparks" because that's cruel. but at the same time...when your channel's thrives off of these kinds of conflicts and breaking them down, it make you wonder....
Orange guy at 4:30 looked more intrigued by the camera but didn't like how ronin immediately got in his face? The orange dog for sure could of just came over to try and assert himself too, but when he walked away after the minor confrontation I feel like he didn't *want* an issue perhaps. I notice ronin is extremely pushy and maybe thats because he's a confident dog, but I do really like how the owner is aware of this and actually checks his dog
Alternative title : Belgian Malinois teacher Blue Heeler some long-overdue lessons in civility. Alternative alternative title : Introduction to World Politics - Canine version
my dog is way to dominant and strong to be at a dog park, not to mention he's never been "chill" with another dog before. he's a pitbull lab mix so like I said, he's really strong
And good for you for knowing his behavior & not taking him where he could become reactive. Wish more owners would pay more attention to their dogs mannerisms/behavior.
Heeler mix kept on pushing - mistaking amiability for weakness. Ronin, finally reacts - I aint your bitch - lol. I doubt the Heeler would try it again. No big deal, just dogs learning their place in the hierarchy. No (dog) feelings hurt.
I dont know if that dog has any heeler in him, but he definitely has markings of Catahoula Leopard Dog, and his curled up tail is like a Spitz breed, a Husky, etc, not a heeler tail.. Heelers markings and coloring are very different from the gray base Catahoula's have.
@user-lx3th5on8l No it's not. They have about 10 toes on each paw to be able to grab onto the slippery rocks they have to traverse to get to the Puffins, and they are much smaller with different markings and fur.
Great observations. We can all learn from their behavior. We have a 3 year old Golden and a 6 month Healer/Beagle mix. Both great and loving dogs. The Golden is about done playing games though and has had to put Healer in her place many times. They still love to play together, do everything together but Healer gets so very excited doing anything at all.
I can't stand incompetent dog owners like that who bring their dogs to the park, their dog instigates a fight and they DO NOTHING TO STOP THE BEHAVIOR. I think you did the right thing, I also let my Malinois correct other dogs when they do things like this. Good for Ronin for sticking up for himself, that Blue Heeler learned the hard way.
i'm not sure where you stand on dog training methods but to me this just proves that humans cant use that "i have to dominate my dog with brute force and pin him down for him to respect me" type of training. with dogs there are so many subtle signs of communications! so many combinations of warnings and expressions of mood before getting physical. all humans can really do is escalate to like level 3 communication with dogs and stand over them or get physical too fast in the dog world, we would be typical "dog park bullies" in their minds. this helped me see it all together now. imagine being a dog and not seeing any "proper" warning signs from your owner and then being "nipped" out of nowhere or full-on hit/ pushed. the dog is left confused and insecure! Thank you for these videos. extremely eye opening and changes dog ownership in my mind.
That's why I don't go to dog parks. Too many around in one place when not on leashes is a bad idea. They can gang up quickly, particularly when they are raised by irresponsible owners. Some people use their dogs as an extension of their bullying behavior. If they behaved constantly like that in public, like they did back in my HS, they know they could get arrested. So, get a dog to do it for your entertainment.
Seriously mate, gotta start reprimanding people more man. You keep talking about the confidence of your dogs and having them stand up for themselfs. I understand that it doesnt tend to help, but personally still if no one ever says anything about it. Nothing can change, but if people complain to them EVERY DAY, if they keep getting negativity from others around them about it. It may. To many people tend not to say anything, which inreturn means sometimes this happens mutliple times a day and no one says anything. You dont have to get angry and start screaming and shouting. But reminding someone that their behavior is not okay and not acceptable as a dog owner, that should certainly be more of a thing.
The fact you interjected after Ronin stood his ground, shows the owner type you are (a good one), where as Heeler mix owner just stood on by and didn't even seem remotely bothered.
When a owner doesn’t correct their dog at the park and their dog is clearly the problem. They probably need help learning how to correctly identify what behaviors to look out in order to correct the dog before it engages in inappropriate behavior’s. Maybe try to help him out next time and teach him. Even though he may give off a bad vibe, some people are only mean because they have no friends.
This is why I never liked dog parks, because for all the good it does for the dogs to play, there is always one idiot who brings a dog that doesn't know how to play nice, lets the dog get too pushy and then act surprised when a fight happens.
I don't think that's what's really going on. People simply don't understand dog behavior. They think the dogs are just playing around and then all of a sudden they start fighting. I've been around dogs all my life and I learned a lot of things I never knew just by watching some of these RU-vid channels the last few months.
I want my 5 month old cockapoo to get familiar with other dogs but just watching this video makes me so nervous. Ronin is such a good playful boy and still get's into scuffles. Not to mention, he's a pretty big boy and dogs still test him, lol.
I wouldn't recommend to socialize your pup with dogs from strangers. Ask around for a stable dog with with a balanced demenor and socialize your pup with those. It's better he has a few positive experiences than a bad one. People can't read their dog and don't care if their dog behaves bad. It's especially dangerous if you have a small dog.
@Crystal F if you're nervous your dog will be nervous. Also, I'd caution you with your dogo being very young. Instincts to "protect him, pick him up" etc would be normal but could lead to disaster at a dog park. Check your community, you may find puppy play groups. Smaller, supervised play time with same age pups 🐕🐾💙
Perhaps the best and most safe way to socialize a puppy (or any dog) is just desensitizing them to every day stuff! Teaching a young pup to just peacefully co-exist with/near people and other dogs and is just so handy and can prevent many cases of reactivity:) And, just like the other comments said, avoid dog parks and find someone with a stable, tolerant dog and watch the interactions very closely!
@emily sayswords Thank you. I'm trying to teach him how to calm himself down when he sees new people and other pets now. He's such a friendly little nugget and wants to run up and kiss everyone, but of course, not everyone likes that. I'm kind of nervous taking such a big part that makes him so loveable away, but he for sure needs to be desensitized lol 😆 😅
People really saying ''Dont take this dog to a dog park then'' How about you sit down your ass at home and google some Information about Dog language and besides what you have to know. Clearly all of you have no experience at all. I hope you guys don't own a dog , poor animal. If there is someone who shouldnt be outside its you people judging without knowing or understanding whats going on. Jeez.. let it rain braincells pls.
Your paragraph was worded horribly but I can understand where you’re coming from. Why dog trainers say, “don’t take your dogs to a dog park” is that dogs get attacked violently by other dogs or maybe even killed because they aren’t trained at all. No matter how much research you do on dogs body behavior, it won’t prevent your dog from being attacked at a dog park. Point blank period.
Ronin being Belgian Malinois could have very well ended that heeler mix, had he bit him. And it was only a matter of time, before he stood up for himself. And that Heeler's owner must have either been blind of dumb.
You are perfect handler with pup. Most ordinary dog owners don't understand a mally is top dog always. Mine is rescue Akita 130# I wouldn't put against a mally, granted his bite is much more powerful. Belgium malinois is a top dog, I former gsd all my 50 years life.
