Today (Aug. 14th, 2015) is my dog "Midnight's" 1st birthday, so I thought I'd share this video of the first 30 days raising her. Happy Birthday, Midnight :)
My girlfriend suggested that I get a dog. She had a cattle dog so I went to the SPCA, and they had a year old blue merl heeler. I was driving a truck cross country at the time, and would frequently fun into people who were absolutely fanatical about heelers. As time progressed I soon discovered that I was also becoming a fanatic for heelers. Buddy died a little over a year ago. I had him nine years. I still miss him terribly, but I decided to get another one. He was a miniature heeler, and I wanted another one that size. I ended up getting two, and the female just dropped a litter of five so I'm really a fanatic for heelers now...
I have a heeler called Shadow, we are on the beach most days. She always used to rest on my feet like that when she was a pup, often when I was doing the dishes or cooking. Love this vid. Shadow is five now
jonnycabo :) I got a boy and his name is Archer... and now I am waiting on the arrival of a girl (red heeler) we are naming Arrow. About 3 weeks till she's ready to go. Thank you for your video! It definitely is the best heeler video out there.
this brought tears to my eyes! I've had cattle dogs for years both as working dogs and friends. Your video summed up the amazing relationship you can have with these dogs and the last shot of her sleeping on your foot says it all! I've a young red girl at the moment and she is a handful but a live at the beach and she loves the surf and the guys with the boards are so good with her and let her get on for a ride. I want her to learn to surf and SUP with me. Her name is Sheila (a good Aussie name ) and I know her and Midnight would love to go beach crazy together! Stay well and keep loving your girl, you will never have a closer friend, xxx
I had a bluey mixed with lab, but didn't know it initially, he looked kind of brindle and later merle ..Even the vet was not sure at first since he escaped the pound and just followed me in the park. He was named "Hercules Houdini the Wonderdog" and he earned every one of his names. Hercules for his fearlessness, Houdini for his crazy ability to escape from anywhere if he chose to, and Wonderdog after I trained him to find stuff by scent...and got my keys out of a snowbank..What a dog!
Midnight is so good and so well trained. Her attributes and personality make me just want to reach through the screen and hug her! Also good quality on the video, I always get bored when theres no music :)
This is awesome!!! I’m looking soon to get myself a female cattle dog for the reason of them being so loyal and obedient to one person, their owner. These dogs are so great
OK, this is my favorite video on this breed on the Internet so far. I just picked up a gorgeous seven week old mail a week ago, and he's gorgeous, supersmart, doesn't even need a leash, well worth the 16 hour round-trip drive into Kentucky to get him, and this really inspired me and all of the great things I'm going to do with this dog! So thank you!
Hey David - congratulations on your new sidekick! These dogs love to work, so have a blast teaching your pup new tricks/commands! Thanks for the comment:)
I thought I might leave a comment considering how many times I have watched this... Not kidding I have watched this at least 20+ times because I'm excited about getting a blue heeler myself in the future
They’re the best. Keep him/her active and with you everywhere you go. Keep them social as much as possible since the beginning... ...and keep them challenged - they like to work:)
Haa, that's very kind of you to say... My girl (Midnight) is what makes it it good - she truly is the best dog anyone could ask for;) Thank you for watching and liking it!
Had a bluey when I was little. His name was Jack. Mum got diagnosed with cancer when I was 6 and I know it sounds stupid but that dog was there for me and I reckon I was raised by him. I remember he used to feel like the biggest dog in the world, sadly he passed away from cancer when I was 10. Rest In Peace jacky boy ❤️
This made me want to go and get my two dream dogs... a white Swiss Shepherd boy named Bailey and a Blue Heeler girl named Bonnie.. But I have to wait, anyways.. great video, loved it!
so cute and so jealous. I wish i could have a blue heeler dog- my dream dog- but im getting i different dog i dont want. Hopefully my wish will come true someday. Good luck with midnight.
Really loved this, my Australian Cattle Dog Croydon died July 3, but I just got a new puppy also a Aust Cattle Dog named Rex and he looks so much like Midnight at the moment. I live in Australia great scenery where you are in Mexico Annie
Aloha Jonny, How are you & Midnight doing? What has she been up to lately? When you have a chance, we would love seeing her! Happy New Year's Blessings!
I just got my first blue heeler ever. 2 days with him and I can already see how loyal and attentive he is. how have your experiences been? my puppy is 9/10 weeks old.
Aloha Jonny, Happy Belated 1st Birthday to Midnight. Hope you are enjoying your little loveeee. We recently loss our 16 yr old dog whom we raised since he was 8 weeks old. Seeing Midnight reminds us of him very much. Do you have anymore videos to share of midnight? If not, please make more. The beautiful beach reminds us of our surfing days. Much Aloha :0)
Hi Linda! Midnight has been practicing her surfing so she'll be getting her own surfboard soon, haa! Once I do I'll post a surf video of her - stay tuned! And thanks for watch...Midnight appreciates it ;)
Good luck, man. You'll need it, because it only gets worse. After one year, they leave toys alone and start dismantling furniture. Pile of poop by the road? They're in it. Deliveryman? He must die. Cold? That's because they stole your blanket. We've got two, a red and a blue, and love 'em.
She turns 3 in about 3 weeks.. ..still loves her toys (rubber duck & frisbee). Doesn't roll around in poop...has never touched the furniture...and we live in Los Cabos, Mexico so she's never cold, haa! As for the deliveryman - she's on guard, no doubt about that!
She's with me all the time so it didn't take long for her to learn things. To walk beside me and pay attention to where I'm going happened pretty much over night. They're bright dogs by nature and love to be challenged and learn commands:)
Never met another animal named Midnight - this is a first! As for Midnight's favourite toys - it's her frisbee. It's made from a heavy fabric material (like kevlar)...she gets it when we walk to the park or golf course where she can run in open space...I throw it until she's exhausted....when we get home it gets taken away and put in the garage. I've always found it's best to drain their energy in the morning with a run...and then again in the evening before dinner...this way when they're at home they don't feel the need for a toy to keep them pre-occupied...they're happy just hanging out by your feed. When I'm not home I keep the sliding door open so she can hear, smell, and see people, birds, cats walking by;)
I could never control my blue heeler puppy sharvarna she likes to run every where and go crazy I cen not catch her so she is strictly on a leash I took her in car down town at night no one around lucky because she got out of car as I did at post office and ran around every where on street she was very naughty I'm still trying to control her like that but she's good dog in every other way and is a RU-vid star too
Omg my heeler arms the same way looks the same way so how old os you blueheeler she looks around three months my is 2 moths its a girl her name is jazzy or jasmine
