Got one of these from a long time family friend along with 2 Electrolux tanks, needed a full service and is in need of an overhaul but works great, I also own 2 newer Convertible machines, a model 1076 and a model of the same body style but with a brown hood and cream vinyl bag, they mainly sit in ignominy because I have no time to devote to them, the model 1076 is missing the headlight cover and has signs of use but is otherwise immaculate while the garden variety brown and cream convertible has had a rough life and probably needs a new fan given the noise it makes, shoved back in the corner is a mint condition Heritage II Turbo with the full attachment set, can't bring myself to run it because it's so clean, lots of interesting machines though I'm looking for a way to advertise them for sale to other collectors, some as parts machines or projects, others as turnkey machines, also have a tub of misc parts from estate cleanouts where the vacuum was gone but everything else was still present
Still use a newer "Type A bag" version. Tough, simple and amazingly effective. Low suction but great air moment and carpet grooming. I have several other vacuums and am always amazed when I use the Hoover for a while how fast it fills the bag with dirt. I don't quite understand since my 2 other uprights have greater suction/more powerful motors. BTW Hoover Hepa type A (now getting hard to find) leaves the outer bag always clean and helps performance.
Suction and power mean nothing compared to design and use. A 4 cylinder In a Mazda makes an miata go quick but a v8 in a cadillac Deville from the 70s is gonna be harder to get going though
