See I was also on that side until he pointed out something. The Noel Noa “Lose 3-4” and Kuon about to “Lose 3-4” but getting yelled at for it was actually eye opening since it proved inconsistencies within the show. I’m not saying it has to be like Ao Ashi but I’m saying that’s not even something that is “anime-like”. Someone having values like Ego should have and then flipping it doesn’t make sense. The concept of "Ego" isn't focused on the concept of being selfish in matches, but rather one's it is how a player's mindset, and Isagi as the MC is the best example of this, he actively helps out his teammates, but those are means to end which is his own development. He actively improves because if his ego, he WANTS to become the number 1 striker through any means necessary, and he doesn't do it by being selfish, he does it by learning from his teammates, contributing to team attacks and defense, playmaking, teaming up. He actively has to change his thinking at any problem and improves, and all his achievements are what feeds his ego. They covered the whole selfishness thing with Barou during the second selection, where he won't pass because of his pride. The whole speech Ego gave at the start of the series is 1. A way to get the characters riled up and 2. A way to get the audience hooked on a never before seen concept. Not EVERY player in the series is a ball hogger There's also that complaint about weapons and awakenings being unrealistic because "that's not how soccer works irl" which is a fair arguement, but that kinda doesn't make sense coming from you considering you have a video glazing kuroko no basket lmao

Before watching the video: Blue Lock is innately a critique of Japanese collectivist thinking and a preach towards the originality of the individual. I might give the video a watch later but 99% of criticism towards this masterpiece I see boils down to braindead takes that take things too literally with very little understanding of nuance. This show has some of the best character writing, development, creativity, planned out storytelling and symbolism I've seen in a Shonen series, with the characters being love letters to individual soccer players and their talents.

I dont think u understand the point of blue lock, its more so about cultivating the ego of individuals and focus more on individual skill, rather than to focus more on teamwork. An easy phrase to think about is before helping others you must first help yourself. Individualism matters the most in soccer, more than a team. Theres even an interview of a European coach saying exactly that. If u have mid players working together in perfect unity, they would still get outclassed by a team that has 1 or maybe 2 outstanding players and shakey team. Its because the best players can destroy a team and creat new possibilities. Like he says 1 player can change the game and force the creation of new strategies to mark them. When barous team starts working together its because barou scored that they can work together. Its because of 1 player, it gave the team a framework and strategy to score goals because he already did it once. Thats what creating 1 from 0 means in egos talk. Also blue lock does question ego, and the ideas brought into it at times, suggesting its philosophy is not the end all be all. As blue lock continues, you see it does become about teamwork but ultimately its still about how your individualism enhances your team and that can only be achieved through cultivating your own ego and desire to be better than your not only your opponents, but your own teammates. Which makes the first selection necessary. If you understand that, then you can compete in high level soccer. Because being part of a team isn't all fun and games you are competing with each other for higher salaries, a better career and to be on the starting 11. All the selections are steps to cultivating a person. The first selection is to see your ego and how you would Naturally fall into a team, will u be the one to get goals? Play defense? Compromise? Be a passer? How does your ego naturally fit into a team? The 2nd selection is about how skilled are you in your 1v1s obviously because soccer is about 1v1s and as the 2nd selection goes on, its about how the ego that you cultivated in the first selection clashes and mixes with your teammates egos to get a win and score goals. Because its less people adapting to each others playstyle is much more do or die than in a team of 11 where u might jot need to be the one to do that. I dont wann spoil the next parts, but you see its a natural progression really to find your ego, cultivate it, test it in combination with a variety of players and see how you will become part of a starting 11. It focuses first on just the striker position because technically its the most important position. However it does focus in on what it means to be a team. Its just blue locks philosophy is a perfect team revolves around a few best individuals, unlike a team like japans which revolves around making sure everyone is trying hard to make up for the fact that they dont have an outstanding otherworldly level player. That was the criticizism. Because again ego believes a team is built around 1 or 2 outstanding players, not really good team tactics. And its a debate that coaches will have with each other too.

I can see why BL looks quite unrealistic from real life football (cause it is, especially from how the current arc is going) but just because an anime sport is not being true to sport doesn’t make it a bad anime. The subgenre BL is part of is what makes it different from other sports anime (like Ao Ashi or Haikyuu) First of, Japan’s current ideology about football sucks. Instead of prioritizing individual strikers to become the center of their team, they care more about tactics. Most other teams in European clubs or nationalities are usually centered around one striker. Even if said striker works more as a team player, that striker is the core. That’s why Ego is presenting a completely new ideology, which will make Japan’s football compete with the rest of the world. It definitely has its faults, but the objective is the important thing. A similar situation also happens in Ao Ashi. 2nd, formulas are not Kekkai Genken/supernatural thing. It’s essentially a way for strikers to make goals at a high-rate. Now, in real life, you can’t do the same formula a hundred times in a match, because then the opponent has already figured it out how to counter it. But a specific formula is what makes a striker capable of scoring goals at a higher rate than usual. There are real life players who have specific placements to score at a reasonable. Even the main character of Ao Ashi has a bird eye’s view, which is the same thing as Isagi. Does that mean Ashito has superpowers? No. 3rd, the way all 5 teams work are in different ways, but they are centered about one (or more) guy scoring goals. Barou’s team has him, Niko’s team had Okawa, the twins scored for themselves and Team V was centered around 3 strikers. Unlike Team Z, the other teams were capable of providing an actual team comp because that player(s) just happened to be better than the rest of the team. Team Z’s problem is that they were desperate after their first loss, so their strategy had to work in a different way. 4th. The way you find contradictions for every argument is plain annoying. Not every idea is immune to “contradictions” you provide. You said that what Kuon did is contradictory is Ego’s philosophy, but it only works in a vacuum. Or what Isagi said to Niko. Isagi did the same thing twice before, but he was able to “move on” from they way he played football to become a striker. That’s why he criticized Niko after the match. Let’s not forget that Niko also did the same thing as Isagi and was able to pass the 1st stage. All in all, you are most likely overhating on this, simply because it is not as realistic to football as Ao Ashi, or even sports like Haikyuu. But that’s not a negative to the show’s writing.

I don't want to be a hater, but I think this video was made by someone who didn't really understand "Blue Lock". It seems like you're frustrated because it's popular. I will be brief because explaining all the points of disagreement would take too long. So I'm going to address the main aspects that annoyed me. The aim of "Blue Lock" is to show future generations of the Japanese team that football is not only about teamwork, but also about individual abilities. Even if you work as a team, if you're a mediocre striker and you find yourself facing a defender like Antonio Rüdiger or Kyle Walker, you're going to get outplayed. Let's take the example of Mitoma: he knows how to play as a team and has a pretty nice arsenal, but what makes him formidable is his dribbling which terrorizes Premier League defenses. This autonomy contrasts with the 2018 Japanese team, which was considered passive by the author. Think about Ego's morality and expand on why his explanations of tag are wrong. The second goal of Blue Lock is to teach these concepts in a fun way. Yes, football in Blue Lock looks like a system of powers, that's normal, it's a manga and BL doesn't want to be 100% realistic. It is designed to be eye-catching just like kuruko basket. Analyzes player actions and "powers" in detail to attract casual readers. The awakening in Blue Lock is inspired by reality (do some research on flow to understand), just like the flow which will be introduced in season 2. The "weapons" system is there to be fun and not only to attract casuals. The first selection aims to allow attackers to find a "recipe for scoring", to know how to use it and above all to know how to score in all situations. For example, Bachira's weapon is dribbling, and he must learn to score whatever the situation and not play tricks like we all do in the playground. Also, why didn't you analyze Baro's importance in the team? Do you realize that the team revolves around him, that he is the playmaker and that no one is at his level? This is why the Baro team plays as a team. In short, I advise you to watch the second part of the season more objectively. Yes, "Blue Lock" has flaws, it's not a "Haikyuu!!" or an "Ao Ashi", but stop disrespecting a work just because you don't like it.

"Manga Characters dont need special moves to be cool" its cool if u like sports manga more that are realistic and dont have this "Powers" but this mangaka obviously does like the idea. U also dont have to be an expert about the topic when writing a story about it. Especially when it obviously not meant to be realistic. That should be clear the moment u see the Blue lock Facility and think about the fact that they later use holograms as goalkeeper. Its a Sport SHONEN Manga so its meant to mainly appeal teenage boys . Also i think u completlely missed the point with Ego judging Kuon even tho he is the top scorer. Yes in terms of the ranking goals might be the only thing that matters but remember that Kuon wants to create the best striker and Kuon didnt score a hattrick because he was the best, no he scored them because the enemy team let him as part of that scummy deal. Or the point about "Players dont just reproduce Goals". Yeah youre right that they dont just reproduce them but its more about finding what situation ur most likely to score a goal and try to get urself in that situation. Ofc that is impossible to always reproduce but this is still a show to entertain people and not be super serious. Thats why u saying "the Casuals" ist dumbest part of this video. This isnt about showing how real football works . Its about fxcking being entertaining. If u want realistic Football then watch real matches or a documentary. Or even other animes that are more on the realitic side. This one is clearly not meant to like that. Thinking that he really usues mainly real quotes is dumb if u think about the fact that in BL the best player in the World is a made up Character that doesnt exist, so mentioning those actually real players more likely fan service for Football fans so that they can be eexcited about names they know being mentioned. So to Summarize: This show isnt meant to be realistic and represent real Football. Its meant to be an Entertaining Sports Shonen Manga/Anime thats about football but with the main focus on selfimprovement and exciting matches. He teaches team work and a lot read the manga infact in the last arc of the anime and for most of the manga....the most important thing which he makes clear every single time is improvising and chemical reactions were players will play irregularly but still coordinated even without planning which is far better

the mangaka could not have chosen a worse sport as the setting for their critique on Japanese collectivism. Soccer a sport with one of the highest amounts of players per team with multiple positions and roles. something like doubles tennis, relays, Volley ball, or hockey could have worked better but nope picked the sport with 11 guys on each team chasing a ball around nearly two acres of land. Yugioh of all things took pot shots at this mentality and ironically that's a 1v1 game most of the time.

The difference is that all the other soccer anime teach people how soccer is played. Blue Lock teaches how soccer is won. You don't win by playing great and having fun and by passing a million times. You win by scoring goals. What mentality do you need to be able to score goals? What mentality pushes you to be the best at deciding games? What do you need to be able to win? That's what Blue Lock teaches you.
@vainqueurhero8823
@vainqueurhero8823 2 месяца назад
Wrong!!! You don’t win games by scoring the most goals, you win by having a balanced team, and it’s was proven that defence wins you more titles than offense like the legendary manager Jose Maurinho said. Blue lock philosophy is flawed and is targeted towards casuals with 1 dimensional view of Football/soccer.
@sirbenedict2519
@sirbenedict2519 2 месяца назад
@@vainqueurhero8823 its focused in on one position and what it takes to be the best at that position. The team that scores the most wins the most games. Sorry, that's sports. Mourinho's teams are defend-and-counter teams. He builds strong defenses that do not let teams score goals easily, then stacks his tactics to attack swiftly and decisively once they take possession. Look at his Chelsea teams in 2005 and 2006 or his Inter team in 2010. Or, better example, his 2012 Real Madrid team that scored the most goals that year and had the best attack in La Liga and in Europe. Didier Drogba, Diego Milito and Samuel Eto'o, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. The attackers all had the correct ego, they wanted the ball and they wanted to score goals. To do so, they got the ball to their attackers and let them work. Mourinho is the best example of a manager whose philosophy aligns well with Blue Lock's philosophy.
@vainqueurhero8823
@vainqueurhero8823 2 месяца назад
@@sirbenedict2519 absolutely not. I still don’t understand why people say ego instead of ambition/mentality, it’s so cringe. Because striker have mentality, but my point still stands, you can’t say only scoring goals wins you games when there’s other positions in the field. That’s my problem with Blue lock and other football animes or even media in general, they have a strong bias that makes people think the striker position is everything, reducing all the importance of the other positions. Again, Blue lock philosophy is flawed and I hate it. Because tell me, did Real Madrid wins the champions league in 2012 when they broke the record of in la liga,the answer is no. There’s more to the game than the offence and there’s situation you can’t score goals,so you have to adapt to win games, but blue lock doesn’t teach that.

I think ego is pushing solo play because that is what japanese players are lacking in he knows team play is important but thats what they have already been shown and are great at so he is pushing being great by yourself because thats what they need to improve and his point was they have a decent team but missing a star player striker so he isn't trying to beat other teams that have 11 great players with 1 the japanese team already has 10 great player's he trying to fill the last spot that they are lacking in

You really went for my favorite manga like that, whatever opinions are opinions, and this video is good The tag was just a demo on how far he is willing to go to mold other players, no matter the sacrifices, like a fascist state making its people scared for control. Either way ego really thinks he can create another striker without the loses But the weapons explaination you made is kinda just you being a little judgy, their “powers” are just skills they honed, and isagi’s is supposed to be is IQ, but it isn’t really explained the best imo until the second explanation. The thing ego tries to teach is what ego can provide to your game, thinking solely for what you want can create with what weapons you have at your disposal. Furthermore, with said ego and weapons you can create “formulas” or just habits/tactics they can use to give a clear path towards those goals. The awakening gimmick is just them thinking about what they are doing wrong and how something can change.

Do you even realize how massively popular Blue Lock is and what it has contributed to the sports world? Real-life football clubs like Inter Milan and Liverpool have collaborated with Blue Lock, and the Japanese national team wore Blue Lock-inspired jerseys. Surely, these prestigious teams wouldn't promote something they believed insulted football.

I lost track of the amount of times you either ignorantly forgot information covered in the manga or just outright LIED. I have no way of knowing which it was, but you were factually wrong about a ton of points you levied against Blue Lock. Really doesn't help you provide ZERO citations, sources, etc to back up any of your points while complaining about Ego not providing examples either. Hypocritical much? EDIT: Apologies for missing the pinned comment. Thanks for providing at least a few citations, however there were plenty other points that could use a source backing them. I highly suggest putting your emotions aside next time you analyze a piece of media, because I got the feeling this video was emotionally charged instead of an objective analysis.

Fascism is a political/government idea not a sport philosophy. You can say blue lock has elements of fascism but that is comeptely reductive. Second Blue Lock prorirotizes the INDIVIDUAL(Ego) over the Team in terms of striking. That idea alone completely sets it apart from fascism. It would be more accurate to relate Blue Lock to Objectivism(and that would also be reductive). Third. I like your videos. As a massive football fan, I think this one is very flawed because you have a too deep analytical view of blue lock, feeling very flat when we hear your arguments, especially since I feel like you like the sport, but you’re not passionate about it. I watched football anime all my life , and I don’t like blue lock,but I reliazed it was not because of the message of the anime but the image it gives to soccer/football. I wish shows like captain tsubasa and Ao ashi were mainstream because they have a better foundation in their message. It seems like you understand the anime, but you’re trying too much to compare it to real life and I think that not how you should view it. I think you should view as batttle shonen with soccer as a side quest. I personally think Blue lock is not close to the best sport mangas( Slam dunk, Kuroko, haikyuu) and as a football/soccer fan, it piss me off to think there’s not anime in my sport category which equals the best ones in quality.

@@YumesukeSutashika I personally think you could have used another subject if you done more research of football anime of the past and media perspective of soccer/football, because you see the problem does not come from blue block, but a strong bias towards strikers, reducing the role of other positions( that takes away the fundamental of the sport). That what I meant by passion of the game, there’s a more important issue in Blue lock than it narration.
