Watch this clip and many others from this period and earlier. The level of intelligent conversation and the way the presenters are so good and eloquent when they speak to the young audience. I was lucky to be young in the seventies and eighties. We have sadly gone backwards in a lot of ways. Just watch the presenters of CBBC and listen to how they speak and the subject matter. No wonder our kids are so Ill informed and dim witted nowadays...
I was a boy in the 70s and 80s so you are absolutely right. I so miss those times. And I have to say that the cub scout uniform they wore then is a lot smarter than what they were today.
I loved Sarah. On Blue Peter and Going Live. I loved Blue Peter, Crackerjack, Grange Hill, Ivor the Engine, Paddington, Newsround, Bagpuss, Willow the Wisp.
Yes she's gorgeous....that goes without saying....but isn't she a lovely person too. Can't say that about every TV personality. I always remember how she stuck up for the blue peter stamp design that was criticised by some pretentious idiot for being too childish in execution! Was it Brian Sewell having a hissy fit one wonders?
@@thefurrybastard1964 I had the privilege to meet her way back when I was 9, when she did a public appearance and she was delightful, I had a crush on her and she gave me a big hug. Made time to sign autographs for everyone.
If you can't believe it's already your last show, there was no need to only serve 3 years, was there? Shorter than any pre-1978 presenter, and keeping up the new trend since then for only lasting for short times.
In her defence she was approached by Chris Bellinger to join his team on Saturday Superstore. It was a show she was born for and she spent the next 10 years on Saturday mornings cementing her place in the hearts of an entire generation.
She's not a cool person, she is preventing any old TOTP episodes from being broadcast that feature her late husband Mike Smith, ....those TOTP episodes belong to the public and deserved to be aired, Mike Smith and now Sarah Greene are refusing to sign the licence extension to allow those episodes to be broadcast, they are part of our popular culture, drop your ego Sarah...
So you want her to go against the express wishes of her deceased husband? I'm pretty sure she'd love to see those episodes too, and remember Mike in his prime, but he made his feelings clear.
@@pipoo1 those totp episodes don't belong to Mike Smith, they belong to the public that paid their licence fees and the artists who appeared on the show, not some two bit radio presenter, Mike Smith shouldn't dictate that those shows are never aired, even less so since he's died...Sarah Greene should do the honourable thing...
@@sensiblename295 no they were made by the BBC which is a public owned broadcaster, and the musical artists own the songs, it's not up to Mike Smith's estate to prevent the public watching old episodes, the public license payer paid mike smiths wages....they weren't intended to never be repeated....Mike smiths selfish attitude has prevented the public watching the artists perform...
