I’ve alway loved watching feather footed chickens run around but I can never seem to stop predators from getting to them. My Road Island Reds are doing great though. Really pretty and great layers. My oldest one is about 4 now.
I love those chickens, my cousin has a lot of chickens and she has 4 silkies and their all white, they look so cute with their feathers going down to their feet
They aren't very good layers, but they make great pets. You may get 50 a year if you're lucky. Often Silkies will get bullied by bossier hens, but I have occasionally had ones that are the top of the pecking order too.
Ive got 10 hens brahmas-cochins-silkies no one bothers my silkies, Ive got 3 silkie hens and 1 silkie rooster he's not even a bad rooster has never gone after me :)
It's feathers. With most feathers, they have microscopic hooks that zip together the filaments, making the feathers smooth, but silkies have been bred to not have that.
Bangkok Nikita I suggest you get some you will love them I have a few. Just to let you know they love to eat corn but the natural one, they also love bananas and watermelon. they are super cute.
