Ehhh... I don't think so, it's full of stereotypes and him saying "they should've casted a non-white voice actor for jewel bc jewel is brazilian" was a yikes for me. I mean, we are so diverse in skin colors and culture, we have all different types of people in here, not every Brazilian is tan
@@JonahWho that's okay, we have people form everywhere here and from all colors ( you know cause of colonization and stuff ) the state I live, São Paulo, even has a neighborhood that's centered in ansian (mostly Japanese) culture because of how much Asian people there's in here. Anyways Brazilian culture is veryyy diverse and beautiful, and that's amazing represented in Rio, that's why we all love it. Sorry for the long text~
The 2 weird fish from Ice Age 2 and Rudy is better than that bird ass dino imo Edit : Just know their name is Cretaceous and Maelstrom, I can finally stop calling them alligator and fish
The 6th movie: ‘The adventures of buck wild’ and coming soon to Disney+ only is the new most unnecessary movie in the series. The animation and rendering is so $h*t, it looks like a tv series more than a movie.
One thing I like in Rio is how they didn't make Blu incompetent. Because it would be easy to make him completely loser who Jewel has to constantly save and teach about living and partying, and who suddenly gets badass in the emotional climax of the third act. But no, he isn't useless, he isn't burden (beside the no flying thing of course) and he has quite a few moments. Like the time where he climbed on top of the arbor with Jewel or how he mimicked dog's barking to scare off a cat at the smugglers. But possibly most important the dance off scene. Where in more generic movie you would expect Jewel to be the one to initiate the dance with Blu, instead it's the other way around. I like it. It makes it more believable as to why she fell for him.
And another thing that I hated about Rio two, is that blue, and his kids were way to human. Using earbuds and phones, birds don't even have proper ears, then somehow blue can eat breath mints. I'm sure that would poison him in some sort of way. Like seriously. Also, I love the idea of being in Jewel's perspective. I wish they did that.
To be fair Blue acting like a human probably has a lot to do with the fact that he was raised by a human his whole life instead of his natural habitat, And even in the first movie there were things he did that were very human Brushing his teeth (even though birds have no teeth), typing on a computer, reading and he even drank hot chocolate, though I do agree that the sequel should have been more about Jewel and their kids instead of him trying to with jewel’s father’s approval.
Schaffrillas Productions finally made the Blue Sky ranked video!...... Wait a minute... [Update] Schaffrillas Productions just made a Blue Sky video, we did it.
Second this! I remember loving everything about the movie.... but didn't like or care about the actual movie. Like the ideas, the imagination the world building etc etc I remember getting so into and looking up as much as I could online, while refusing to watch the actual movie a second time cause .. it was slow and I didn't really care about the characters.
I know, I loved this movie as a kid and the concept was amazing, with a few more hours and more development this could have been amazing. Also the dog is the best character in the movie and I do not take criticism.
@@nyanmew170 SOMEONE GET ON WRITING AN EPIC BOOK SERIES NOW Uh- hm- kinda awkward saying that since they used an adjective as the title, but you know what I mean-
if you like the concepts you should watch Arthur and the Invisibles, it's the same but with more lore and more heartfelt moments, and it has Snoop Dog as a hilarious side character
I understand that he didn’t like the franchise, but the first ice age movie was genuinely good and thought us a great message, wasn’t it getting involving a reward?
I don't think any ice age movie is "really" good, even the first one. Some things are nice, like some nice subbed lines, the buddy road movie in ice age 1 (specially many and Diego, I like how they finally complete each other) , I still can't believe how fun Buck is compare to this plenty annoying side character (every other in fact, but sid's grandmother tackles are mostly fun and very well dosed.) overall ice age 1 is a poor version of Shrek that why it's still okay (except sid truly suck as a donkey+ character) , and the story for the other 4 is bullshit, and Many becoming with time a giant asshole trigger me. Also, this poop jokes omg they rly saw shrek without getting the point with the ogre style. Scrat is fkin useless and annoying and I'm skipping every frame he's appearing. Elly and Many love story is shit so. Then Diego love story suck. Then sid love story omg I don't want to talk about this pls just watch the first (and maybe the 3, just skip to 30 min to enjoy "crazy funny Buck's wild adventure the movie" ,there is nothing more interresting)
As a Brazilian girl, I agree with everything you've said. For us, this movie is an almost perfect (or perfect) representation of our country. Some voices are Brazilian people, like Carlinhos Brow, and yes, there are white people here (I laughed a lot when you said that xD), actually, most are a mixture. I am happy to see someone from another part of the world admire a film so important to Brazilians. Fun fact: We get very angry when someone says they saw Rio in a language other than Portuguese, as the language matches perfectly and there are jokes in the dubbing that only we can understand, we are people like that- I hope my English was good, and great video!
@@Fairygroveyt Well, there are several, I like one from Rio 2 (the movie is bad, but there are moments that dubbing saves), in which the dog says that in the Amazon, mosquitoes suck the blood of people with straws, which is very real. here in Brazil, sadly- Or in the first movie, in which Rafael calls his wife "Minha Manga Rosa", I don't know what it's like in English, but in Portuguese Rafael's "accent" makes everything amazing. Most of the jokes are dubbing, so it's hard to describe, but for us, the essence is completely different because it describes things in our daily lives
Fun fact about The Peanuts Movie: Everyone's actors were switched out due to them getting too old for the roles with the exceptions of Snoopy and Woodstock. Their actor, Bill Melendez, who also directed almost all of the Peanuts specials, passed away a few years prior to the films release. So they used archives of his voice as the characters to voice them. Also every actor in the movie is a child except for 3 of them, one being Melendez.
@@Disassociated24 Yeah I posted it first, that guy just copy pasted my entire comment. I didn't care enough to call him on it cause it's not a big deal. Kinda sucks but eh what can you do
I completely agree with your point that Rio 2 would have been better if Jewel was the protagonist over Blu. They could have her feel torn between what she imagines reuniting with her family should be like Vs what it actually ends up like. She could be feeling stifled by her kids and husband's adoption of human technology, but when she gets to the jungle again, she realises she isn't the hardcore naturalist she once was. Blu's awkwardness with her family could be more of a comedic subplot as opposed to the main emotional crux of the movie. It could have been great.
For the record, the person that plays the Scottish bull in Ferdinand is David Tennant, who played the Doctor in this really popular British show "Doctor Who". It doesn't make the joke funny, but Tennant is actually a good actor. It's the just implementation of humor in the movie that's the issue, not him.
i love him as scrooge mcduck, but good lord does his voice coming out of a bull feel w r o n g? even if it wasn’t a spanish setting, any bull emitting the voice of david tennant just,, doesn’t feel correct? maybe it’s just that specific character design tho...wild.
@@WafflesX3XD True, it does sound kind of odd. And you're probably right about it being partially due to the mediocre character design. Scrooge McDuck deserves better
I'm Scottish and I find that Scottish characters in film are usually pretty awful, but I like some of the slang he uses in Ferdinand. It's pretty authentic at some bits.
I cannot actually believe Jonah doesn't even recognize David Tennant. What kind of internet dweller doesn't recognize David Tennant? But yeah he's a great actor. Shame he ended up in such a worthless role.
I don't care that it's weird there's a Highland cow in Spain, I'm just happy David Tennant got to act with his own accent for the first time in his entire career almost. Also I appreciate David Tennant, his audio book narrations of the how to train your dragon books were a staple of my childhood, in helping me sleep, and I'm glad that he's now got things like good omens so he's not soley known as the tenth doctor
It’s even better that he got to even play a httyd character. Although he’s not the best character, he’s still included & able to use his own accent. He has maybe 1 line in the movies but he’s more featured in the shows 😁
The first four Ice Age movies stuck with me as a kid, the fourth one being my least favourite but still being given credit for at least being given a reason to exist. The second one for me would've been my favourite because of how genuine it felt in the second act with Ray Ramono and Queen Latifah carrying their characters in the conversations they'd have.
same!! the whole flood thing in ice age 2 feels like a genuine threat throughout the film (like there’s actual stakes), the dynamic between ellie and manny is also beautiful
I'm glad someone agrees with me that Rio is a masterpiece. I truly think it does everything you want for an animated movie and deserves so much more credit. And like you said Blu is a fantastic protagonist that I can relate to in a lot of ways. Not having courage to do something and not knowing what to say when talking to other people. I think Jesse Eisenberg plays the role perfectly and really gives life to the character. And Nigel is a great antagonist that is a true threat to Blu and Jewel. The love story manages to not feel forced and gives them genuine reasons to fall for each other. And I'm glad that they showed that even though Blu can't fly he is very clever and finds ways to move around. They could have just made him an idiot but they showed how intelligent he was even though he has social problems. Like you said Blue really admires Jewel for her abilities and how strong she is while she does notice the little things Blue does and how caring he is. They had great chemistry and feel like a realistic relationship between two birds that have very different personalities. I know I get way to excited for talking about an animated kids movie about birds but for being what it is it is very good. All of the side characters work for me and the human characters are great as well. And I genuinely get super sad when Blu is watching them fly after getting unchained because it was then he realized how much he was missing out on and how he was going to have to go back to Linda. A lot of the time when the two main characters fight and split up it feels forced but it doesn't at all in this movie. Both had fair points and it makes that much sadder. Every time I see this movie it makes me want to visit Rio de Janeiro when I get older. Them make it seem so beautiful and fun to be there. And my favorite part of the movie is the final scene when they fall out of the plane. It is so heartwarming seeing Blu face his fears and save the girl he loves. And the lines before they kiss are so great and really puts Blu on another level. Anyways I genuinely love everything about Rio and I think it should be the gold standard for animated movies.
Something i really liked from Nigel in Rio was that he works as an evil parallel to Blu, because both of them are domesticated birds who are good at using human tools and both were haunted by a traumatizing event from their past: Blu fell from his nest as a chick and got captured by smugglers creating his fear to fly and Nigel was kicked out from his TV show and replaced by a pretty parrot creating his hate towards pretty birds, but despite having similar skills and both having traumas their personalities are so different. Blu is really akward and clumsy but is also nice and friendly like when he met Jewel he was trying to be nice with her despite her temperament, while Nigel is more confident and open but he is violent and phsycotic and when he met Jewel he tried to kill her, also there's the parallel that when Blu was flightless Nigel was great at flying, but when Blu finally learns to fly Nigel ends up losing all his feathers becoming flightless. And there is another reason why the second one sucked to me because there wasn't more parallels between the protagonist and the villain, i'm sorry for repeating "Rio 2 is shit" but i really hated that sequel for so many reasons.
As a Brazilian, I really don't know why but hearing this guy saying stuff about Brazil is making me laugh hard, seriously Idk why, he's not saying anything wrong, offensive, or missing the point, but seeing a non-brazilian talking about such especific things about Brazil feels like hearing what would be an alien's description of The earth....... so fricking hilarious, great video tbh
I thought you might like to know: the reason one of the bulls in Ferdinand is Scottish is because they're a Highland Cow, a breed that originates from Scotland known for having shaggy light-brown fur. Of course, kids have no idea about that, and adults wouldn't really find the accent that funny, so it's all unfunny the same.
And I think the horses are supposed to be Lipizzaner horses, which are this super fancy breed of horses that belonged to the Habsburg royal family which once upon a time ruled both Austria and Spain, so it makes *somewhat* more sense to have them in this movie, but it's also a really deep cut reference that doesn't really pay off even if you get it.
Can’t even cap. In high school, I saw Rio in theaters like 3 times and dragged all my friends to “trust me” and see it and they all loved it too. Straight GOAT
when i watched rio for the first time it was during a earthquake and we had to leave in the middle of the movie to stay safe (luckily nothing had actually been damaged)
Rio hits so hard for me because I grew up in Rio De Janeiro and I think it represents rio very well. The movie has a great calm and party vibe, the side characters are very likeable and do a good job at representing the people that live in Rio. I don't think the movie would be the same if it didn't take place in Rio with the variety of locations. Also one detail I like is how when blu meets characters sometimes they start speaking in Portuguese but then speak English when they find out he's not from Rio.
People done even realize how the humans make Nigel more threatening. The human villains are scared of Nigel. Nigel took out a security guard with no sweat. That added to his character. I feel like every scene in the movies adds to all of the characters.
honestly this did feel like a schaffrillas video lol. similar script styles, similar editing techniques, etc. I feel like there could be a more distinctive personality here, instead of taking so much influence from other channels.
@@jclkaytwo well, our editing might be similar because we both just use stock images and meme clips to enhance points, and the scripts might be similar just because we're both talking about movies. But i have my own ideas and my own personality.

Rio 2 is one of the only movies my family had on DVD, so when we go on long car trips, we watch this movie for like 3 times on loop. I’m forced to watch cuz my siblings only like this movie and bc they don’t do stupid DVD’s anymore it’s really hard to find better movies. Help
Blue sky was definitely a major part of my childhood growing up, and it will forever be a tragedy that Disney had to freaking close their doors like that .
As a parrot owner who had a Galah cockatoo and a Red Fronted macaw, I adore Rio. It really shows a lot of the emotions I feel as a bird owner. Many People cant understand how I get so attached to my birds, and why I didnt just get a cat or a dog, but birds are just special and different. Despite them waking me up first thing in the morning and being destructive, I couldnt imagine my life without them.
My favorite part of the movie was the very beginning with just Blue and his owner. Some of the ways they animated him moving and the little bird mannerisms are so cute.
I always loved the fact tht Nigel is a cockatoo and not even one of the species that looks evil like the palm cockatoo. Such a unique choice of species for a bird villain
I’d like to say that Nigel being alive in the second movie is NOT a plot hole because at the ending of the first movie after the closing song, Nigel walks out of foliage and is all naked without feathers.
I think the Peanuts Movie has the best transition from 2D to 3D animation I've ever seen. The models don't give off an uncanny feeling like the Lorax or Horton Hears a Who, and the fact that it's animated on twos adds a lot.
@@k-leb4671 each frame lasts for twice as long, so the characters look to be moving at 12 fps instead of the usual 24 fps. Spider verse is another excellent example
@@hillefoozy ah OK. I've never heard anyone refer to it as anything less simple than "animated at 12 frames per second" or "animated at half the normal frames per second.
Okay the animation of hortain and lorax haven't aged super well but the grinch 2018 looks amazing as a transition from 2d to 3d with it's lighting, colors and fur.
My ranking #10: Ice Age Collision Course #9: Ice Age The Meltdown #8: Ice Age Continental Drift #7: Rio 2 #6: Robots #5: Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaur #4: Ice Age #3: Horton Hears a Who #2: The Peanuts Movie #1: Rio Haven’t seen Epic, Ferdinand, or Spies in Disguise
While the scottish bull in ferdinand was a stupid idea. The reason he was Scottish was because he is a Scottish Highlander, a type of cow. They really did not need to add him.
Fun fact: Before Rio 2 was released, a graphic novel of Rio named "Snakes alive" came out and despite having some flaws, it still having a better plot than the horrendous sequel we got
fun fact about robots the song used for the chop shop scene (Underground by tom waits) was actually added somewhat close to the end of production because the director heard the song and really wanted to add it its also my favourite part of the movie just so good
I think the title of Epic was a play on the term “Epic” as a size. The character went tiny, in comparison the world looks “Epic”. The term Epic isn’t always used this way but if you use “Epic” as an adjective in scribblenauts, the item becomes large.
This video was awesome, excellently editing, awesome scripting, and true care. I have a massive personal connection to this studio as there one of the reasons I wanna do wha to wanna do when I get older, I’m even working on my own Blue Sky ranking rn, this is awesome, while I have some different opinions (especially with Horton) it was all very respectful, also fun fact, the reason Chris MelaDevilMan was apart of the old Blue Sky Movies is because he used to head Fox Animation, and played a big roll in the early ice age and letting Blue Sky exist all together, overall… this video is fantastic and more people need to see it.
MAYBE I’m super nostalgic and MAYBE my humor is absolutely broken, but I was cracking up when you were just talking about the mayor getting the root canal and having a floppy arm afterwards. That’s the scene I remember most from the film because it made me laugh so much as a kid. Sometimes you’ve got to remember who the actual audience for the film is and also that having something people will remember and think about years later, even if it’s stupid, gives it at least some good movie points. I still have inside jokes with my brother from Horton Hears a Who to this day.
I'm also super nostalgic and yeah that scene still makes me laugh really hard, when he started talking about it negatively I was cracking up too bc it's such a dumb scene but it's comedy gold !!
Yes Lmao I liked it as a kid. More than I liked the lorax. And I liked that the kangaroo villain lady voiced by carol burnett got redeemed in the end. I did not feel the same way about the onceler guy I tell you.
I saw an eliminated scene of Rio 2 that probably would have changed the climax of the story. The scene happens after the disaster of the birds' soccer, and Blu and Jewel start to converse. Blu had told her that he doesn't feel comfortable in the Amazon, that it's not for him, but Jewel takes it the wrong way and tells him that if it bothered him so much, he should go back to Rio alone. And that's when Blu tells him a phrase that, personally, I would have liked to have been in the movie: "I always thought I was the only one for you. Now I see I was your only option" It gave me courage that they made Blu look like the culprit of everything, when the real bad guys were Jewel and her father (specially him). He just wanted to see his wife happy, even if it meant changing for her, but Jewel was scum towards him. It was very sad to see how Jewel went from being a great character, to an ungrateful one.
I saw Rio 2 as a kid and I remember hating every new character and how unfairly Blu was treated. I was hoping Blu would leave and let the loggers teach that tribe a lesson. At that age I thought was stupid or sexist for thinking that. On rewatch I guess ten year old me was right. That’s why a year later I loved the Peanuts movie after watching it in cinema. Because it ended with the girl respecting Charlie for his motivations as someone who cares for her and other people. That is what Jewel’s character arc should have been in Rio 2. I mean she forgives Blu in the end. “For what?”, “what did he do?”, not succeed in being like her tribe. I sure hope Rio 3 has a better ending even if it’s a divorce.
@@ghostmcghost3768 Ikr I was so confused when he said that the Captain Underpants' movie looked bad I was like "What- it lowkey looks as good if not better than the books wot-"
It's not an absolutely terrible movie (bar the ending music number), and honestly, it's Dr. Seuss. It doesn't need to be a cinematic masterpiece. If it was theatrical and dramatic, it wouldn't be a Dr. Seuss story
I love Robots. Great character design, cinematic as all fuck, great voice acting, decent writing. Oh the music was good too, that song when we're introduced to the weird underground furnace place was absolutely awesome. Also David Tennant is awesome, thought definitely not Spanish. Good list, good video
I actually love Rio now! I don't really remember much about it other than the opening, when baby Blue was about to fly for the first time and then the incredible trauma of his whole bird village being captured by smugglers and falling to the ground from his nest. Rio is a very heartwarming movie about healing, overcoming trauma and moving on.
Well hey both captain underpants and peanuts look 100 times better than that ugly looking spiderverse with it's ugly looking colors unless if it's night or if there's flashing lights.
Other than the Horton slander, this was probably the one part of this video where I *seriously* disagreed with Jonah. I thought the style was absolutely perfect for the movie and aesthetically very nice.
@@Brendan.C well, spiderverse's backgrounds look great and completely 2d but the 3d models stick out like a sore thumb and the main charecters are designed creepily realistic like one of those motion capture movies like the polar express and cristmas carol 2009 unless if it's spider pig, spider detective, spider anime and the villain. Heck, mitchells vs the machines looks better since the the models fit better and are better designed. I would say spiderverse animation-wise is on the level of earwig snd the witch.
Lmao I love the ranking man! Honestly I was probably one of those kids that loved watching Horton hears a who and tbh in my opinion the first ice age was the best out of all of them! I understand why rio was your first it's a great film! Gud content!!!
Ice age : A MASTAPEICE Ice age: the meltdown: decent Ice age dawn of the dinosaurs: A good movie Ice age Continental drift: good Ice age Collision course: We do not speak about this one
I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates Rio. This could be nostalgia talking, but it's still one of my favorite movies. Blu and Jewel's relationship is my favorite part of the movie by far. The main thing I enjoyed about Rio 2 was the moments it had with them together as a couple. Maybe I'm over-exaggerating, but I really do love this movie.
50:25 Ngl. That was a really good Kronk impression. This coming from a chick who can't even remotely get close to a Kronk voice, though, so take that as you will on how easily impressed I am with people being able to come anywhere close to mimicking Patrick Warburton's deep-ass voice. Lol. I also 1000% agree that Rio is the best Blue Sky movie. It's always been one of my favorite childhood movies. Hell. As a kid, I had a damn crush on the suave Nico. Everyone always talks about how sexy Disney made Kovu, but Nico's RIGHT THERE!! Lol. (Also side note, I dated a Brazilian long distance once. Dude was whiter than me and my "sun shines on my legs and casts a reflection on the car seat in front of me" ass.) ALSO ALSO I wanna point out a really cute, satisfying and clever quote and its reprise from Rio! When Linda and Blu first meet, Linda reassures him that "(she)'ll take care of (him)." and then at the end of the movie, when Linda, Blu, Tulio and Jewel are all reunited, Tulio echos that very same quote as he picks Jewel up to nurse her back to health! That is some beautiful attention to detail that they REALLY DIDN'T have to do so close to the end of their script! It just speaks to how much the writers _cared_ about what they were writing.
@@k-leb4671 welp, i don't know the exact categories and terms but basically there are different styles of music that are grouped in the samba umbrella, the one with the strong and constant beat of drums like this one in my comment is one type, the one I think most outsiders associate with samba the most is that one with soft melodies is another kind and also known as bossa nova
as a brazilian I am so happy and honored to see people from other countries appreciate our culture through this beautiful movie that is Rio. so glad I found your channel : ) we need more people talking about the masterpiece this movie is (let's just forget the sequel ever existed shall we?!) and also you just reminded me of the movie Epic, I remember watching it in the theater when I was younger and let me tell ya, it's a complete mess lol
I watched Rio like twice, MANY years ago. And I stepped out watching the movie for like 20 minutes and still remember it more than watching Rio 2 twice barely two years ago.
Don't worry Jonah, Schaffrillas might have finally put out his ranking but (spoilers) he didn't have Rio at its rightful spot as you did (and neither did he gush about it for 10 minutes straight that had me jumping in excitement), so I accept your ranking as the Canon(TM) Every Blue Sky Movie Ranked
Hey love the video man. Rio was honestly an experience to me the first time I watched. Really good characters, pacing and colours. Brazil looks so good. Epic is also one of my favourites, but it's your video at the end of the day, and I respect that.
I’m not gonna lie, Jim Carrey’s performance as Horton was mostly really compelling! Like, he really sold me in the emotional moments this character had! And I thought Jim Carrey was only good at comedy! 🤣😹😂🎭🐘
Rio was literally my first legitimate favorite movie when I was in the teens. I was such a fanboy of the movie that I _kinda_ forced my relatives to watch Rio 2 together with me on the cinemas...sadly I was blinded by my fanboyness that I didn't see anything wrong with it. Now looking back, specifically since I've mostly moved on from my Rio fandom days, I completely relate with how you appreciate the first movie, much like I did back in the day. Thank you so much for this.
man, a couple weeks ago i was watching Rio for the first time after a few years, and in the middle of the movie I felt the urge to text my friend, I said that if Rio was a Disney movie it would be way more wildly loved. In my opinion, Rio is in the same level as Beauty and The Beast, Frozen or Tangled.
I always get "Epic" confused with "Strange Magic" cause they have kind of a similar setting and art direction. Maybe because I've only seen each movie once
This video is extremely underrated god damn Nice work! Although ranking all the Ice Age movies right next to each other was definitely a surprise, to me at least 1 and 3 stick out as being far better quality wise than the other ones lol.
I love Rio 1, I loved it as a little kid and somehow still love it and how well it aged. The characters are great and so are the villains. When Carlos the Tuscan said “ “flying is not what you think up there, it’s what you feel in here”, I felt it in my chest and is one of my favorite movie quotes ever!
Hi! This is my first time coming across your channel and I originally thought it was a Schaffrillas video too, but I'm so glad I stayed for the whole video! I remember watching Rio when it came out on DVD ages ago and I instantly loved it! This movie made my love for birds grow and even make me go through a bird obsession phase in my pre-teen years, which there are still remnants of to this day as I'm looking around my room. Birds are one of my favorite animals and I have a deep passion and fascination for them, mostly originating from this movie! The scenery of Rio was beautiful and I have always wanted to go to Rio de Janeiro just to see those stunning views and beautiful birds ever since. This is my favorite BlueSky Movie and I completely agree with your other top 3 spots being Spies in Disguise and The Peanuts Movie, both of which I love a lot too! It truly made me smile and feel nostalgic when you talked about all the great things that Rio had! I'm truly glad that someone else saw its greatness too! At the beginning of the video, I was like why did you put Rio 2 so low, but upon hearing your opinions truly brought out the realization in me that the only reason why I loved it was because of those awesome songs and scenery! At the beginning of Rio 2 on New Year's Eve "What is Love" was truly such a banger of a song for me and I still listen to it today! I can clearly remember being amazed at the beautiful dance sequence and scenery in "Beautiful Creatures" too! It was magical for me and it's my favorite scene of that movie alongside the first scene! I appreciated the fact that it was actually based on an endangered macaw species and I'm glad to hear that they're doing better! Also, when I saw that there was a supposed Rio 3 coming out that was mentioned in your video, I was pretty shocked, 1. It comes out on my birthday and 2. It comes out the year after I graduate High School. If this does actually happen, I'd definitely go watch it since it meant so much to me as a little girl! I hope your channel will become greatly successful like Schaffrillas's has and I'll definitely come back to watch your other videos in the future! You make great content and I seriously think you will go far! -Gia :)
thought this was a schaffrillas video but was pleasantly surprised lol. but anyways, rio holds a very special place in my heart and just hearing someone talk about it in such a positive light made me so happy :) great video man
I always felt bad for Blu in Rio 2 because it seems like torture porn to him, so in this case I'm always sticking to the first Rio movie. PARTY SAMBA FOREVER
Great video! I was actually expecting Ice Age 5 to be dead last, but it's actually nice to see a more varied kind of list for once; especially one that doesn't praise the hell out of the first Ice Age movie (yeah, that one's kinda overrated ngl). That being said, I wholeheartedly disagree with Blue Sky's Horton Hears a Who being worse than Illumination's Lorax. I won't argue about your points against Horton failing as a feature film, but at least that movie has the smallest iota of *respect* for the source material's core message, even if it was a way simpler one (people are people no matter how small); and it's carried through all the way until the end. Whereas Illumination's Lorax left a far worse stain on the original novel's entire moral, from the clever hiding of the Once-Ler's portrayal (by giving him a face), to the idea of corporate toxicity being an *unconsciously* evil act (by making an evil CEO who straight-up *wants* to destroy the environment to make money; the mf even STATES it out loud with the "let it die" bullshit), to even the ambiguous ending suggesting that it's up to you to make a change (with the whole big-scale climax that flat-out tells you that you don't have to do anything cause someone else will come in and do it for you). Not to mention the use of the Lorax's face on the advertisement of a gas car but that's another can of worms. EDIT: By the way, just followed you on LB. ;)
plus what I hate about it too was the potential of it because there was another script for the Lorax that was darker and more alike with the source material like there was a song released that was part of the other script called biggering and it is AMAZING and if that song was like the whole movie then I would have loved this movie like crazy.
Totally agree here. The Lorax movie makes me sick. I remember going to the cinema to watch it as a kid (or tween?), and learning that very day that maybe kids movies can be terrible and I should actually think about what I'm watching critically instead of just flagrantly watching whatever kids movie passes my eye. I grew up several years that day. Horton Hears a Who actually had some charm to it. Also, the soundtrack is godly.
Most of the actual story is honestly just a "three characters learn to like eachother" as standard as it gets, and Sid and Manny are just diet Shrek and Donkey (with Sid being absolutely useless for the overall plot); but I'll admit Diego's character arc is actually really compelling and elevates the movie a bit. In hindsight I wouldn't call it THAT overrated since it doesn't get THAT much love overall compared to movies like Toy Story and Shrek, but it's still a fine movie.
I really like Rio in my language....which is Portuguese, but its European Portuguese, so we understand Brazil Portuguese, so we actually asked Brazilian actors to play the Brazilian characters, and I love that so much
It's really shitty how instead of Disney using the acquiring of Blue Sky as a business opportunity and making some joint company projects they instead shut the studio down. I grew up with Blue Sky and loved a lot of their films 🎥 so seeing them go kinda rubs me the wrong way. *R.I.P Blue Sky we'll miss you* ❤️🥲
Even before they purchased 20CS for free. I’ve blamed The Walt Disney Company about as much as I blamed 20th Century Studios for the milking of the Ice Age franchise since around 2012 with A Mammothy Christmas and Continental Drift! And then it just got worse in 2016 with The Great Eggs-capable and then came more and more Ice Age (starting with the franchise being a hexalogy with Adventures of Buck Wild) even after the franchise’s six-year hiatus in the late 2010s!!!!!!!
Jonah Who’s Perspective Rio 1 is an underrated gem Rio 2 is a cinematic disaster Spies In Disguise is Cinema Peanuts is an amazing adaptation I Don’t care about Ice Age Epic is painfully average Horton Hears A Who is a terrible adaptation Ferdinand is on the verge of greatness Robots is comedy gold Scaffrillas’s Perspective I don’t care about any of this Except BIGWELD!!!
Rio is such a great movie. It's story was so incredibly good, and it was actually funny. It is such an Iconic movie and it's one of the most well liked movies in the Blue Sky lineup. Plus, they captured the environments perfectly! They represented Brazil perfectly, and the representation of my home state Minnesota is unmatched in any other film. Despite it's short time in the film, they really captured winter in Minnesota perfectly. The snow coating the ground, old main street buildings being repurposed, and just the atmosphere of the scene. It all fits towns in Minnesota perfectly. And yes, we generally are nice people, but we can also be extremely rude when antagonized.
Excellent ranking, dude! Much like everyone else, I thought this was a Schaffrillas Productions video, but yours is still really good! I loved how you described each and every movie! 👌😊🧐😂😂😂
This is genuinely one of the best movie reviews I’ve ever seen, with all the analyses on the different aspects of the movies and the conclusion which I possibly got emotional over- You earned a subscriber and I think you deserve way more :DD
