🎼🎼Come guess me this riddle, what beats pipes and fiddle What's hotter than mustard and milder than cream What best wets your whistle, what's clearer than crystal What's sweeter than honey and stronger than steam🎼🎼 Couldn't resist. This tune lives rent free in my head and the mere mention of the Irish brings it forth. ☺☺
I've been very lucky to get my hands on several of these since release and at MSRP. Of course, I shared with friends, but I am holding onto one bottle. It is just so good. Not just my favorite spot, but one of my fave whiskeys period. Glad you finally got to review it. Now, try to get your hands on the Gold Spot. I scored one last month and it might be better than Blue. I'll have to do a side-by-side to decide for myself. PS - the Jameson Pot Still you mentioned, I've heard on good word that it has only been released in Ireland. However, I'm sure that it will eventually make its way across the sea. Exciting times for Irish Whiskey.
Green spot, Blue spot, Yellow spot, Red spot, and Gold spot all from them. You guys should do an episode tasting them all back to back and pick your favorite or the top two in your opinions!
Good to see the review, was starting to wonder if it had been forgotten! I'm absolutely happy to have found it (bought two, kept one). That being said, my favorite "spot" is still the Chateau Leoville Barton (Bordeaux finished) Green Spot. Amazed the wax seal stayed stuck to the bottle!
You guys were like Costco to me, meaning I remembering entering to Costco only to buy milk and tortillas that’s it! Then $300.00 dollars later... We’ll from one bottle Jameson that I had as a gift like 3 years ago, Then one fine day I started watching your reviews like 6 months ago, then... $1,300.00 dollars later! Now Islay whisky is my favorite Bruichladdich Port Charlotte is my number one. Anyhow ‘I be back’ I’m going to get my Blue Spot 😊
Younger CS whisk(e)ys often benefit from a drop of water. Pushes it into balance. I wish Blue Spot and Gold Spot were available in the Netherlands. Would buy it in a heartbeat, but currently I'm just limited to scalpers and I refuse to take part in that part of our scene
Yellow is my favorite especially when price is considered. That said this is an absolutely wonderful dram and If you can afford it I recommend treating yourself to it this Christmas or Birthday.
It’s not whiskey, but would love to see you guys do do some Armagnac reviews. I have found a lot of whiskey drinkers really enjoy some of the 20-40 year Armagnac and they can be found fairly inexpensive given their age. 👍
The blue spot is a good dram. But when i run out i wont be running out to grab another instantly. The red spot on the other hand. . . Thats got the divine permanent spot in my cabinet.
May I just say I had the pleasure of drinking Mitch's truckload of whiskey at the La Quinta last year, and in fact road the elevator down to the lobby with him and a luggage cart overflowing with boxes. Thanks Mitch, you got Me the whiskey!!!!!!
Thank you both for another good review. Personally I would say Irish whiskey is my all time favorite but I really do like Scotch also & I'm trying to find Bourbons I like I have very few however it's been hard to. 🥃
This chanel has almost bankrupt me. I didnt drink whisky 2 years ago. Have you tried four roses single barrel, bullet, buffalo trace. If you like a bit more spice Eagle rare is nice to. Being irish I like irish whiskey, but those have been the whiskeys I keep going back too.
@@brianoailpin6844 Don't waste a lot of money on bottles of whiskey just to try. If you're going to sample multiple varieties buy it by the glass or a shot size if they have it that's what I do. I'm a dual citizen of the US and Ireland do you live there. I've tried them ones you mentioned I don't like them. So far the only Bourbons I really like Pappy and Rip Van Winkle, Weller 12, some Bookers and I'll even put Angels Envy in that category but I don't like any other MGPs
Jameson Single Pot Still was released about a month ago. Most sites are sold out. It reminds me of John’s Lane a bit. A bit higher abv but still definitely tastes like Jameson. It’s 46% so it’s a nice ABV
I think it’s the nicest Jameson on the market. That includes the bow lane and 18 year. It’s very inoffensive and tastes like classic Jameson, just without the ethanol
If you guys can, try getting some port wine casks and mature some whiskey or bourbon in them. I've tried with an edition of the famous grouse a decade ago and it was pretty good
I have not yet seen blue in the wild, heck I haven't come across red spot in the wild. My usual Irish Pub only has green and yellow on hand :( But I'm curious about this one now.
It’s Been here. I got one a few months after it was released but it’s very hard to come by especially at retail. I had one opportunity to buy it and it was more than I wanted to spend but I don’t regret it.
It might not be that you aren’t good and you might need to really take your time with it and a notebook. I have run into people who really aren’t good at giving notes until they sit down for 30 minutes with a notebook and really write it down and take things slow.
Did tasting session with all the spots (before the gold spot was released) and the Blue one was a big disapointment, especially for its price tag. Love the review guys!
I scored batch 2 earlier this year. Definitely worthwhile. Batch 3 should be coming out soon. Don’t know it’ll be in my budget after big Bunnahabhain 12 CS ‘21 & ‘22, and Bruichladdich Port Charlotte SC scores. Oh, how do you feel about Balcones being sold to the chillfilter empire?
Been looking for this since y'all had it on awhile ago. Haven't seen a single bottle at total wine. He said they get 2-3 bottles in and they go by the afternoon.
Heyyyyyy, y’all can get blue spot in Tejas??? I can’t get no yellow spot, red spot n def not blue. On a serious note. How about giving us the lowdown on Gold spot. Daniel; your palate is much more advanced than mine but I get the same notes you state. Cheers from central Virginia!
Perks of living In Louisville is everyone is too busy with bourbon to pay attention to Irish. Always get to snag a couple of Midleton limited releases at retail.
Grabbed a Gold spot and Blue spot when I was in Colorado last month. Immediately put Blue spot on my top shelf. It was so so good. If people are interesting on pricing, got it for $134.99.
First we have Daniel all bandaged for the wound on his arm. Now we hear something about his leg. The Heck kinda shenanigans are going on there?!? Is The Banana trying to take Daniel out of the picture to fully mooch the spot?!
Shame on your liquor store ....its been re-released here in Ireland 85 euro a bottle and whiskey is more expensive in Ireland due to taxes compared to the US. Beautiful whiskey all the same ...
Question... Is "YELLOW SPOT" made by the same people who make green and blue spot... and if so, when are you going to be reviewing it! PS... Rex, your powers of moochiness are weining and you are becoming a true dude... that is all ;D
Yessir. All the Spot whiskeys made at the Midleton Distillery on license by Mitchell & Son, the original whiskey merchants that created it in the early 1900s.
It’s sad that Guinness and Jameson is owned by Diageo. These two brands are Irelands most iconic beverages. But they are owned by a non-Irish company!😞🇮🇪
Diageo do not own Jameson. It is owned by the French conglomerate Perno Ricard. But yes it's sad no longer in Irish ownership but on the other hand the previous owners didn't have the ability to grow the business any further, so there is a positive in there.
