August 8 - The drumline begins their warm up with "Flam Jam", while warming up for Finals in Indianapolis, IN. Go see them and others live! Get your tickets at www.dci.org/tic... / drumcorpstube / drumcorpstube
@@tiyenin do you mean play the drum set? It's so that the drumline can have a metronome without actually having to use one because a drumset sounds cooler.
@@tiyenin He is the percussion head. He is a professional drummer, and this is just his thing. He has been in the activity a very long time, he was a drummer at BD and then taught there after marching, until he ended up at BC. Definitely not a selfish thing.. that's just something unique that he does for his drumline. He played the set at BD as well when he was teaching
MysticFlame hahahahahahaha how many dirty rolls and poor technique can you handle when watching middle school lines? This is the best remedy for that, by far
After the basses finished that first split opener and joined in with the flam jam, it sounded so sick. It was like the line was missing something then boom the bass hits in and everythings complete.
@@averybondeson3322 I'm pretty sure there is tension on the bass drum: if there wasn't, it wouldn't be able to vibrate or be played in general. (Have you ever hit a non-tensioned drum? It kills the momentum from the stick/mallet and probably damages the head. It's like hitting a pillow with a stick, but not quite as bounceless.) Not sure about the head fighting against the mallet, but that doesn't make sense either.
Pay attention to the way they interact with each other. Take note of how each player seems to build off of the other in what they’re playing to make a full and complex beat. Also take note of eye contact and fluid hand motion. Drum set is also nice touch.
+Alex Gaeckle Yeah, absolutely. First year not teaching since 2010, only 3rd summer in 12 years not marching or teaching. Good year to be a spectator though!
+asdf072xxp Eh.. Humans make mistakes. Metronomes keep perfect tempo. Not saying I prefer a met but saying that it makes you a shitty musician is kind of stupid.
WOW! Y’all men got down! Reminds me of 99’’ when I used to play. We were very crisp and coordinated like this. Y’all fellas rocked it out! Nice to see this. I appreciate you posting.
Wow... such a talented group of percussionists. Between the stick work and staying on beat with the drum set... it's just amazing. These guys have a bond like no other for sure. It would be hard for me to believe they just picked random drumline guys and threw them in the mix. The coordination between them is just amazing. Simply amazing, I'd love to hear some of their cadences.
Stupediously tight, as for that slow beat :O. Never mind a warm up, this was some of the best drumming I've heard. Coingratulations to the boys on being seriously good at what they do.
Bro I miss these days!!!!! I miss being out there preforming in the lot or anywhere!!! I wasn't in DCI but man I tried!!! The strokes of center tenor is amazing!!!!
Dang this is such a good exercise for creativity. Something like this needs to be played in every drumline. Creativity/flow can be sorely lacking when you age out even though you can throw down some sick chops.
It still amazes me how they are all playing different things and at some point they come together. Currently, my high school is writing something similar.
I love how dci works! Center 7 (almost) age out on snares then end snare becomes center 3 this is why I love it most of the time but it is sad for them to go especially Rue nanni nah on quads
I don't know a lot about corps stuff but loved marching bass back in high school. Would someone enlighten me and tell me what the little chains with the little circles are around all their necks? I'm assuming those are medals. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I figured the few that have a lot of them on their neck are "veteran" members that have marched multiple years, I guess..?
