Now, THIS is the way a person should learn the fiddle by using this camera angle. Very few videos are like this.. I commend you on doing this. Makes me want to get me another fiddle and try again.
Really good version of this song, you're a great teacher thanks, I think I've got it now. Some are asking what is the difference between a violin and a fiddle...let's go back in history. It's the same instrument, but set up differently (metal strings and fine tuners for a fiddle, catgut strings for a violin). The common folk in each country known for fiddling wanted to play and couldn't afford? maybe to take lessons, or didn't have access to proper instruction, so they took shortcuts and developed their own style and music. I'm still mystified about how each person reacts to learning, some do well with notes and others like myself prefer to learn "by ear", or to memorize what they hear. I admit I am limited by teaching myself and learning by observation. Position is so important, yet some fiddlers do it all wrong and still produce beautiful music. And I see some playing violin perfectly, but with no soul. So many questions I have...so many ways there are, but true music should make you laugh or cry, to have great emotion. Before there were written notes...there were and still are, the singing of the birds and the whales and every created being. And now I understand the cells in our bodies sing their very own song...L' Chaim, to Life!
you can pick up a decent one for like 40-50 bucks delivered to your door now adays off Ebay. check it out, i did and im having a great time learning this stuff.
@frmertd Yeah but it is harder to learn watching a video. You can barely tell which string his fingers are on. If you don't know the 4 strings right off you'll probably get confused.
@taylorsloan89 What is the difference between the fiddle and the violin? If he's using a fiddle which I guess he is then it has the same strings as the violin e, a, d and g.
@amsbindi1 It's wasn't that easy for me to get. You can't tell what string his fingers are on. I don't think he even reviewed the strings in the beginning of his video so for people who know nothing about it just wouldn't get it (probably) unless you're super smart which I admit I'm not that smart. I'm a little on the slow side.
"Let's start the lesson by learning the pointless tag at the end," said no violin teacher ever. I get that you're trying to sell lessons, but tricking people into viewing this by letting them think it might actually be useful is kind of shitty.
