Strolling Through Life so far I’m buying both! I love the Clean Cult All Purpose cleaner for my wood furniture and granite countertops, but I found it didn’t have the same power in my bathroom, so I’m gonna try Blueland’s bathroom cleaner. I have Blueland’s mirror cleaner, but I’m not entirely sold on it yet. My mirrors look a bit cloudy. ^_^;;;
Athenia Awesome! That’s great that you found a good combo of the two! That’s a bummer!! I’ve noticed that the less mirror cleaner I use, the better. If I use too much it can get streaky for me. Thanks for watching!
Actually, both. I’m curious about the tablets that Blue Land has but I’ve seen multiple reviews about the acrylic bottles breaking so I bought the Blue Land foaming soap, which comes in a glass bottle. Love it. Then I became curious about Clean cult, so I’ve also ordered their all purpose cleaner and their laundry tablets. I haven’t gotten my CC order yet but if I like them, I’ll probably try the whole bundle.
I love the reviews thank you I was all set to buy a blue land kit and I never heard of clean cult so thank you for opening my eyes to that. Also is there any data out there that talks about how well they disinfect? With 2 active kids that put their hands on everything I’m also concerned about how well they actually clean as well as reducing waste. Thank you!
555ArkIce Im glad this was helpful! I think Blueland has a blogpost about it on their website. But they aren’t anti-bacterial cleaners. You could email them to see if they have studies!
For me its Blueland, hands down. I use the Grove because I already had them and didn't see the need to buy more bottles so I can't detested to their bottles quality but I love their products and the concept. I believe that is the more sustainable direction and hope they can keep improving their line.
Malita Jones I think it is better to send it back so it can be recycled rather than it go to the landfill. It’s not perfect, but I do think it’s better than it getting thrown out 😊
There’s a lot of debate on recycling and if it’s worth it, especially with China not accepting our plastic anymore... I think shipping the container twice (to me and back) is incentive for me to go with blueland refills... packaging wise it seems like they have clean cult beat. Plus recycling or not... bluelands carbon footprint has to be much smaller. Just wish they would switch to a tempered glass bottle option!
@@tonya104 there is absolutely no debate if recycling is worth it, some of the practices may not be optimal due to an attempt to get more people recycling but that doesn't mean recycling isn't worth it. That means better practices and education still need to be developed for the system to run more effectively.
Really great review! After watching this, I’m going to buy glass bottles (maybe from cleancult) and stick to blueland refills. It seems that tablets/concentrate will have less impact on carbon footprint for shipping, less packaging waste, and cheaper.
tonya104 Thanks! I’m glad it was helpful! Yes, the cleancult bottles are great quality! Blueland’s tablets definitely have a smaller carbon footprint, so it’s a great choice. 😊 If you end up trying them out, I’d love to hear what you think!
So odd that Blueland bottles are so cheap because the foaming hand wash bottles are fantastic thick glass! One thing about Cleancut - they heavily use coconut oil, which is an allergen, so if you’re allergic or sensitive, be aware.
Yeah, unfortunately the acrylic bottles are great in theory. But I’ve had a lot of people tell me theirs have cracked, too. I would’ve loved for them to be glass like the hand soap bottle or for them to be in aluminum. And yes, that’s definitely important to note!
Hey, thanks for the review. Just wanted to throw my two cents. Been using blueland for about a year- and it's true. The bottles break. We've been through three bottles so far and we are NOT rough with them. The glue just doesn't hold up and eventually the bottles WILL break. Love the product otherwise and they'll replace them for free but getting tired of having to go through the effort. Seems like an easy problem to fix. We're going to try blueland tablets in the cleancult bottles and see how it goes.
Thanks so much for this review! I'm trying to move my family into a more zero waste lifestyle and i really appreciate when other people give there opinions :)
Having tried both, I would agree with you - Cleancult takes the cake! Personally, I like that their cleaning formulas are richer and that you don't have to use as much. Although Blueland's tablets come in more sustainable compostable packets, it's just too watered down for me. Literally. Respect for both companies, though!
So I bypassed the blueland bottles mostly bc we have ones at home already and also bc I didn't have faith they'd hold up quality wise for a prolonged period of time (thanks for confirming my hunch). We'll be trying clean cult next but mostly for the bottles and the comparison experience. Tbh, while my county accepts cartons through curbside recycling, I'm not convinced they're actually recycled (maybe I should take the time to see if any of our recycling facilities do tours 🤔). I'm almost hoping to not love clean cult bc I just feel their line would be better if they transitioned to a closed loop refill system of aluminum bottles. You have larger scale companies such as Plaine Products and small Etsy businesses that are doing it so it's definitely do-able. It's like they're soooo close to being zero waste yet far enough away to make me feel I'd still choose blue land instead since sustainability is my top priority.
Giannina Alarcon That was smart to bypass the bottles! A recycling tour would actually be very interesting! If Cleancult has there refills in aluminum bottles, they’d be perfect! The compostable wrapper from Blueland is better, sustainably speaking. I’d love to hear your thoughts of Cleancult when you try them! 😊
I just found your channel. I’m happy I did. I also had blue land bottles break and leak. From sales and such I purchased 3 sets or 9 bottles since 2019. Here it is February 2022 and I have 2. I also purchased the glass cottages from The Grove. I really didn’t care for the cleaner. I’ve only had the the grove for less than 2 months. Now the sprayer only sprays when it wants too. I will try the clean cult bottles. Thanks for your help!
Hello! Yay! So glad to have you here! 🎉 That's a bummer to hear. Unfortunately, I've heard a lot of people with similar experiences. Thanks for sharing what happened with Grove, too. I haven't tried their bottles but that's good to know. Yes, if you end up trying Cleancult, let me know! I hope you can find something that works for ya! Thanks for watching! 😊
Great comparison! Currently using Blueland after seeing them on shark tank love the affordability. Thinking of maybe trying some clean cult products. Could you do a video comparing the dropps and clean cult laundry and dish? I’m curious to see what would be better
I love that blueland uses tablets for everything. It's also a big reason why they can sell their product for so cheap! It is SO much lighter than shipping liquid product or concentrates.
Emma Albrecht The tablets are super convenient! They save space and are definitely easier to ship. Plus, that means there are less carbon emissions in shipping. 😊💚🌏
I'd love to see a video on comparing zero waste dish soap options. All of them seem super expensive. The volume is either too low to justify so you're paying a ridiculous amount per ounce or shipping adds so much to the cost it also becomes unjustified. And do solid versions clean as good? Do they waste more water?
I like the hand soap from cleancult better. My son goes through soap so fast that I’m having him use the blueland since the refills are cheaper. He says it smells like apple juice, ha. I still use bluelands glass + mirror and bathroom spray for those areas. I prefer clean cult spray to use on my wood dining table.
Samantha Ross It sounds like the mix of the two are a great fit for you! I definitely like the Cleancult hand soap more as well! Haha that’s pretty funny that he smells apple juice with the Blueland soap! Thanks for watching!! 😊
P.s. I've seen multiple reviews saying people weren't overly rough with the Blueland bottles and they cracked or broke all sorts of ways on them too...even though they promote their bottle as being more sustainable in the long run.
nice review. I really like the blue and foaming soap. Blue land now has dish soap, or I should say powder, and dish washer tablets. You should do another comparison between blue land and clean cult with the dish stuff. 😁
In one of your videos you stated that the Cleancult was not the best pkg because not all regions had a method to recycle the tetrapak. But they take them back and do the recycling for you. So they are making sure that their pkgs do not end up in landfill.
Yes! They now have a recycling program for their cartons. You can send them back and recycle them for you. When I first posted about them, they didn’t have a recycling program. But, now they do! 😊👍
Strolling Through Life I’m sure the water to tab ratio is somewhere or I can just look at how much water the blueland bottles hold and figure out how to make it work. Thank you!
Scie Copeland Definitely! I haven’t tried it, but it could probably work. The Cleancult bottles are a bit smaller than Blueland’s. I might have to try it out myself! 😊
So the main reason why I opted to use Cleancult was for the bottle issue with Blueland. And to be honest with you, I saw WAY too many reviews online stating this issue. Adding more waste. Sorry, but not sorry. Honestly, I am not a HUGE fan of Cleancult, which is why I chose to pick up Supernatural also. They have Glass bottles a lot like Cleancult but they are frosted, the ingredients come in these vials and there are WAY more surface cleaner options than CleanCult. I also like that they don't ship the bottles with the ingredients already filled inside of it. I had one of my bottles from CleanCult completely burst upon arrival. Super annoyed by that. I really loved the idea that Blueland is behind, I just wish they would change their bottles. LIke it's a EASY FIX folks! I think I really didn't like the Cleancult because of the overpowering smells. I'm just not a fan of them. If they came with unscented and you could add your own essential oils, I'd love that! Cleaning wise, it was alright. Like you said, it does get a little more "filmy" on the surface if you go "hard". But like I said, check out Supernatural. They have counters + granite, glass + mirrors, Bath + tile, Wood + Floors, as well as a stainless steel set. They always have 30% off sales too! Great review!
Candis C The Blueland bottles are disappointing. I’ve actually been looking into Supernatural! Hopefully I’ll be able to try them out! Thanks for the suggestion!😊
I just received my Blueland package last week and I was disappointed that the bottles were not glass because I thought they all were not just the hand soap. I also encountered a leaky bottle. Didn’t realize it was leaking until I went to use it and saw a water puddle on my counter.
My Blueland bottle cracked the exact same way. Contacted their customer service and they were very nice and agreed to ship a new bottle for free along with my refill purchase, but I declined and decided to just use another spray bottle I have lying around.
Tried clean cult. The laundry tabs were not my fav. Even had a problem with them not dissolving fully. The all purpose cleaner was so strong, citrus scent, it make me cough. (Maybe that is just my sensitive situation.) And the all purpose left a very oily residue on my counter tops and I didn't over spray. I believe they are coconut based so that makes sense.
Grand Paczki That’s a bummer that you had some problems with them! I know the citrus scent isn’t for everyone. Yes, they are coconut based so they are a bit thicker of a consistency. Thanks for sharing your experience! I know it’ll help some other people when deciding!
I had trouble with oiliness for the all purpose cleaner until I watered it down 50/50. No more issues with that now and the solution goes further. Hope that helps if you are trying to use it up!
I don’t care for the Blueland glass cleaner after having used it for some time. The glass cleaner seems to clean well enough but within a day or two have to be redone. Also won’t re-buy the Blueland laundry tabs as they do not dissolve in cold water. But I love the foaming soap.
Thanks for sharing your experience! That’s a bummer the glass cleaner isn working for you. Blueland’s hand soap is nice to have! Thanks for watching the video!! 😊
Hi! Thanks for your review of this. It looks like the cleancult "milk carton" bottles are plastic lined, right? If so, it seems like blueland might win on this category. Thanks!
awlurie Hi! Of course! That’s correct. Cartons are typically made of paper, aluminum, and plastic. So, they aren’t the perfect option in terms of zero waste. Blueland does win on that front with their compostable wrappers. 😊
Blue land should sell packs of the tablets vrs just individual packs. Also if you say they are so watered down could you add less water or add two tabs?
I like hearing someone else's perspective on kleencult. Sorry for spelling. I don't mean any disrespect on this & this next point u may be working on it, is that the sound isn't quite matching when your speaking. I do love your videom
Thanks for the review! Just started my journey to be more eco-friendly at home but was confused with the many brands available online. I’ve also seen many ads from “Gelo Clean” refillable hand soap pods lately. Have you heard of it? Any thoughts? The price is cheaper than Blueland per fl oz.
Elaine Chow Of course! There are definitely a lot of brands to choose from. I haven’t heard of them! I’ll definitely have to look them up! Thanks for the suggestion! 😊
Do the Cleancult foaming hand soap bottles seem like they would hold up better if dropped? I have 2 boys, and a husband, so concerned about broken glass! I like that the Cleancult bottles have a silicone coating, so thought that may be more durable?
Robin Otto The Cleancult hand soap bottle is not a foaming soap pump. But I do like Cleancult’s bottle more (and it does seem like a higher quality). The silicone cover makes it less slippery on countertops. 😊 The only bummer is that Cleancult doesn’t have a foaming hand soap bottle, just a regular pump. So if you used Blueland’s refills in the Cleancult bottle, it wouldn’t be foamy. Hope that helps!
I had to replace my forever bottles from blue land like 3 times each. I finally.just quit ordering from them and used my own bottles and their cleaner tabs. NOT A FAN OF BLUELAND
hey!👋🏻 I saw your comment on Cathrin Mannings video and decided to pop by and check your channel out! Great content! Keep it up! It inspires me to see others crushing it!❤️
does anyone know if the dish soap ingredients for both company are clean I know clean cult is plant based and safe to go back into the environment but I couldn't figure out if blueland ingredients are safe and non toxic
I believe they are! Blueland has a Cradle to Cradle certification, which is a great way to check if the ingredients of products are safe/ non-toxic! You can always send them an email to get an answer from them directly. 😊 But Cradle to Cradle is a great non-profit that looks out for the safety of consumer products.
I keep reading about the bottles being a problem but mine are fine lol. I’ve had it for awhile, no cracks no leaks, so idk if people are too rough with it or not, but the bottles were never an issue for me, but to each their own!
I haven’t had great experiences with their bottles. Unfortunately, I wasn’t rough with them so I’m hoping it was just the batch I got. But that’s awesome that you’ve had no problems! The tablets are great!
Has anyone found a bottle that is the appropriate size to work with blueland tablets? Would like to try these products since the refill package is compostable; however, don't want to buy a plastic bottle that will break.
I appreciate your honest review. I am a big fan of yours, but I’m not a fan of your review of “sponsored” products. In your Cleancult video you sound like a salesman for the company. Please stay true to being an independent reviewer. You have so much value to your followers when your reviews are unbiased. Thank you
Carol Nelson Thanks so much for your support! I’m sorry you feel that I was a salesperson. I thought it was very similarly structured to my other review videos, so I apologize that you thought it was sales-like. I only take on sponsorships with brands that I fully enjoy and believe in or else you wouldn’t see the sponsored video (and I turn down a lot). As a small creator who is trying to make this a full-time job, sponsored content helps me get closer to my goal. I love cleancult! I do tell brands that I partner with that I will be completely honest in my reviews. If I didn’t like the products, I wouldn’t do sponsorships with them. If you have suggestions on how to approach sponsorships, please let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’d like to see from sponsored content. 😊 Thanks again for valuing my reviews and videos!! 💛🌏
For anyone who needs to know. It takes a million years for glass to decompose, whereas it takes 450 years for plastic to decompose...I think I’d rather stick to plastic over glass.
You are right, but I would add that plastics not only leech toxic chemicals into our waterways but also are made from oil, which is unsustainable. If/when glass is recycled it is easier to reuse and better for the environment, but also uses fossil fuels to be produced. Best thing in my opinion is to find recycled glass to use for bottles. there is no one size fits all solution, but many factors to take into account.
Cleancult seem richer and thicker? There are saponified oils in the carton, of course it is. That doesn't mean it will clean any better or worse. Way to allow manufacturing tricks to sway your opinion.
