This was my favorite song during the Spring/Summer of 1970. 9th grade was coming to an end and summer was ahead. Listening to music as a 14 year old back then was fun as there were plenty of good tunes around. Something about this song’s words made me think it was about the Mutiny On The Bounty. Anyway this song, that time, and the music and events of that time really did sail off into history-but live on in our minds…
Anyone that has heard the entire LP will tell you these guys were not a one hit wonder band. This was a tremendously talented group that got overshadowed by this one tune which was just a glimpse to how great they really were. I used to play this in one old band back in my high school daze in the 70s. Such a great record which still holds it's ground and was their first LP.from 69..
Not the cover on the LP i have which i got in the early 70s but still the same fantastic record all the way through. Tim look up the whole LP ,if this was the only cut you have heard you are in for a real surprise. This record is hot as hell..
This songs been running through my head. I attribute the meaning to the present transition we can be making now: Calling everyone to ride along to another shore, we can laugh our life away and be FREE once more. Mystery Ship 🏞🌈💛⚓
Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay Rolled off of their ship, and here's what they had to say "We're callin' everyone to ride along to another shore We can laugh our lives away and be free once more" But no one heard them callin', no one came at all 'Cause they were too busy watchin' those old raindrops fall As a storm was blowin' out on the peaceful sea Seventy-three men sailed off to history Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship On your way to a world that others might have missed Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay Rolled off of their ship, and here's what they had to say "We're callin' everyone to ride along to another shore We can laugh our lives away and be free once more" But no one heard them callin', no one came at all 'Cause they were too busy watchin' those old raindrops fall As a storm was blowin' out on the peaceful sea Seventy-three men sailed off to history Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
