Burrows was also lead singer in the songs "love grows where my Rosemary goes" by Edison Lighthouse, "my baby loves lovin" By White Plains, "Gimme Dat Ding" by the Pipkins and "United we Stand" by the Brotherhood of man. The songs Beach Baby, Love Grows , and My Baby Loves Lovin were all released at the same time, so it is no wonder he didn't have time to appear live. Burrows was in essence a five - time one hit wonder
Tony Burrows was the lead singer. There was demand for a live band, and Burrows wasn't interested, so a band was put together for live performances, although they did not perform on the record. It was comprised of Del John - lead vocals, Robin Shaw-Bass, Eddie Richards - Drums, Clive Barrett-Keyboards, and Spencer James-guitar. James went on to become lead singer of the Searchers, where he remains today. He also released 4 solo albums.
This song got very brief AM Radio airplay on the heels of "Beach Baby" being a hit.. which is why I know this version by First Class, and prefer it over the other 2 versions..
When we were children we played in your backyard And we pretended whenever times were hard We built a house up in a tree And dreamed of how our lives would be But now the tree has died So gotta say to you Jenny, Jenny, dreams are ten a penny Leave them in the lost and found Jenny, Jenny, dreams are ten a penny Get your feet back on the ground You dreamed of heroes riding across the sea In shining armor but all you had was me All the time you never knew All I could do was dream of you And still I do today So gotta say to you Jenny, Jenny, dreams are ten a penny Leave them in the lost and found Jenny, Jenny, dreams are ten a penny Get your feet back on the ground Jenny, Jenny, dreams are ten a penny Leave them in the lost and found Jenny, Jenny, dreams are ten a penny Get your feet back on the ground
