I have a N130 with Pd creative power supply, and an Eversolo A6 ME with Pd Creative power supply. Whilst the ESS dac chips definately offer more detail, space and precision, the warmth and the musicality of the N130 still has it's place in my system. Overall I'd say the N130 is a more musical and honest sounding machine. The Eversolo can be a lot of fun but when I just want a more laid back presentation with a bit more " realism" about it, I'll go back to my Node. I'd imagine some of the Xtra people are hearing on the Node X is similar. Is it better than the N130 though, that's the question, or is it just different. More detail doesn't always mean better. It can mean less musical or more harsh.
I Upgraded from Bluesound Node N130 to Node X and from internal dac sound was worse than old! Very poor signal quality from new rca outputs...Coaxial output so so... Don't waste your money. Buy old n130 instead or Eversolo DMP-A6:)
Thanks for sharing your experience! I’ve always preferred the sound of Burr Brown DAC’s over Sabre but have several times been bitten by the upgrade bug, often resulting in disappointment.
ROCK ON! :)
