James, another excellent video, thanks. Just curious where you see a QBase Ref fitting in with the PS-550/1250, re the former's primary earth outlet. If you had both in a system, would you still plug say a C-3900 into this, given it may be the main benefactor of the clean p/s? Or swap for a QB8 (16A, with QWave/QSine) to just feed the PS?

An isolation transformer is not a regenerator, two different methods trying to do the same thing. Isolation transformers are not good for if need a lot of power.

Great video! Amazing that the PC-550 can make such a difference. I know that you paired it with the E700 and were at about 75% of the PC-550’s capacity. Do you think that 550 can adequately handle the E800 and an Esoteric streamer? Did you notice any differences between the PC-550 and its predecessor the PC-530 other than the meter? Thanks!

GM ☕️from Toronto. I find this to be an interesting 🧐 piece. However,I’d only consider something like this ONCE you’ve maxed the room and system performance as possible… Only then will “guiding the lily” yield and audible improvements . Have a great day.

I live in regret. I worked in a radio station. They had an Sp10. 2 in fact. They asked if I wanted them. I didnt wantthem at the time. It seemed too heavy to cart back to my car. I think they go for a bit now.

How did you connect center channel to the integrated amp with only left and right speakers outs?

Recent review by Accuphase dealer in Canada claimed that 4000 has better detail than 5000. Likely due to AANC distortion lowering feature on 4000. Sucks for 5000 owners who paid much more.

Great amps that last for decades but what is a real surprise is how good their digital sources sound.I have never heard an Accuphase CD player or DAC that does not sound natural,open and unstrained.Even the really old ones.And that is not easy to achieve with digital.With the vast majority of digital you know you are listening to digital even though it can be good in a digital sort of way.With Accuphase you do not get that sort of sound -you just get the music.Whatever their approach is I believe they have the secret recipe that almost no other company has.At least not consistently like Accuphase.

Usually manufactures of Audio racks make some claim as to their technology leading to good sound. Is there anything special about the engineering?

I don't know a lot about these things, but as I see it you can't just connect it to ANY HOME THEATRE RECEIVER like you say. I watched several videos before this one and they all said the receiver must have pre-amp. Now when you said "any receiver" you made my day... until 5 minutes later when you did exactly what all the others did: you connected the 2ch system to the PRE-AMP connection of the receiver, which a lot of them don't have. I have a Denon AVR-S970H, not a bank breaking monster but still a recent receiver with 8K and Dolby Atmos... Well, it does NOT have pre-amp. So while still a useful video for others, I just watched a useless video with an unnecessary explanation of your layout and a summary of your expensive gear, all for nothing as I can't install it that way.

Hi there, Subsonic filter and MC loading control works with AD-60 ONLY and only? Maybe did you check if e.g, AD-50 preamp works with these new E-700 feature?

Separated preamp and power amp cost more because is better, PERIOD. It is more flexible when you want to upgrade and in case of damage you can replace it. Another point is that you can get the best from different brands including preamps that are streamers with lots of other inputs as well. Thanks.

The obsession with the shorting plates between the tweeter input terminals and the bass input terminals has reached alarming proportions! The manufacturers of speakers know full well that the material these are made from is as equal to the job of conducting the current between the terminals as the printed circuit board tracks that are found on the crossovers inside the loudspeakers. The idea that replacing these short pieces of metal with cable, however 'good' quality it may be (and usually a good bit longer!) is absurd. Surely if this where true, then it would matter whether one plugs into the top or bottom set of terminals, as, when plugged into the top ones the shorting plate only carries the bass signal to the woofer filter, and conversely, when plugged into the bottom set of terminals the shorting plates only carries the treble component to the tweeter filter. On the subject of the crossover filters, the method of biamping suggested is pointless, as the signal to the tweeters and woofers still has to pass through the crossover filters in each path. The only really valid biamp system is that in which the output from the preamp is fed through an electronic crossover which divides the treble component from the bass and feeds it straight to the drive units. BTW, the idea of using two dissimilar amps for bass and treble in your 'passive' biamping system means that gain must be controllable on one of the amplifiers to be able to balance the outputs of treble to bass. Whether it's worth splitting the bass and treble at the amplifier end (biwire) or at the speaker terminals (conventional single wired) I don't have an opinion.....I'm just fascinated by the number of videos made by, and watched, by people who haven't a clue how speaker crossovers work!!!

I started separating preamp and amp in the early 80’s then to mono amps in early 2000. Will never go back to an integrated amp and stereo amps. But that’s me, it doesn’t mean it has to be the same for everybody.

Two quality network switches with SFP ports will do the same for $200. - get a 48 port Switch and space out your cables 300mm instead of 30mm - use one network switch for your home network and connect your switch (dedicated for audio) to the main switch with FIBER Also, a quality multi-rail power supply you can not fit in this small box.
@yannj6693
@yannj6693 Месяц назад
You can also try to disassemble all the internal wifi antennas and of course disable all wifi functions. This in addition to a good power supply, the digital signal gains in quality. Reading the comments the dithering is not known to everyone...

Speaker switches are one more thing to introduce noise into the system. Generally speaking they are not made very well (certainly not to the same quality as hifi equipment), and in my experience they just ruin the sound from both devices.
