Trapper always finds something to howl at when we go for hikes so I put some clips together for a video. Look for him on instagram: @trapperthecoonhound #hound
When I picture a hound baying, it's usually not anywhere near this adorable. It's such a deep, melancholic, and forlorn sound from such a cute and obviously happy source. Those ears...those ears are just *sooooo* floppy.
I love his singing, gorgeous dog. In his element, tail wagging, side eyeing to see if youre paying attention to his alerted scent hes homed in on lol i absolutely love the bray of the coonhound. 😊
Wow! What a beautiful, soulful, mellow singing voice he has… the Kenny Rogers of hound dogs! Some of us can only dream of having a bluetick for a canine companion, so thank you for sharing these clips.
This is a beautiful dog 😊😊😊..My coonhound doesn't hunt because I don't..shes just my best friend and sweet baby... During walks though she can pick up a scent even underground... I love watching it when she does that... Her nose going back-and-forth on the ground while she tugs on the leash... It is so cool watching that instinct... I want to let her go sometime but I'm afraid she won't come back lol... I know she would absolutely love it... She is a great dog in every single way except that she bolts and I'm scared she will get hurt... I love these dogs so much
I feel the same way about my dog. She's a beagle and a great dog. I love watching her hunting instinct take over but I don't hunt either and wish she could go...even if it were just once. But I'm also scared that I might lose her. I think as long as we walk our hounds and let them sniff each area at least a little, they will be happy.
Not many would run off alone, especially house pets. We have a coonhound that does pretty well off leash, his recall is fairly good but he is very curious of everything and has to check some things or people out before coming back. Rabbits , squirrels, birds and deer are his favourite things to chase but he realizes when he's lost them and gives up.
@@codykutny2532 I don't know, Coonhounds are very scent motivated and will track a long ways. My old boy uses to escape the back yard to track, run out in the road, etc. Sure, he could find his way back, but he'd still go off on adventures with the beagle next door and the basset hound across the street (yes, this is a real thing that would happen. Three scent hounds living close to each other are trouble lol).
We have a Bluetick Coonhound that comes into our doggy daycare! He's the sweetest fella you ever did meet, and so well-mannered, I don't think there's a single other dog in our group that has a problem with him. He bays at the other dogs to get them to play with him lol. He especially likes playing with the little ones! Im always wary of letting the hound dogs near the tiny dogs, because I worry about their prey drive, but our Sammy has proven himself to be a wonderful buddy to all dogs great and small. His best friend is my coworker's Chihuahua--Sammy ducks his head low, and Big Boss jumps all over him. He keeps this mouth so soft, and they even play chase together! Sometimes BB even chases other dogs away from Sammy so he can play with him 😆 Sammy has put a real soft spot in my heart for blueticks ❤️
I miss this music! I grew up with coin hounds. I always had a walker, my brother black and tan , mom had a red bone, and dad a walker and black and tan. We would go hunting with my cousins and friends Sacramento river at night and forestill
What a great Dog, he is a big Beauty ;) his Voice is Music for my Ears!!! And his Ears are so so so flopp flopp flipp :) A big Hug to this Beauty, stay healthy and have Fun!!! Sorry for my bad English but i hope you understand :) i love this singing! In Germany we have no Coonhounds :(
Just for future reference if a hound shakes his head alot after barking he has what they call ear mites which are easily to get rid of with medicine from vet
Actually he is neutered. I got him through a rescue that did it shortly before I got him. I wish I got him intact though because he’s one of the best dogs I’ve ever met, has a drive like no other hunting dog I’ve been around.
@@ThatDudeVinny see if he will tree a squirrel, if he will tree a squirrel he will tree a raccoon. Box trap a raccoon and let him bay it in the trap. Then tie back the dog and let the raccoon go and have a 5 minute head start. I bet your dog opens on track and trees it.
There’s not any breeders in my area either. I got lucky and found him through a local animal rescue. Check your shelters, a lot of hounds from the south get shipped up for adoption.
