I'm still waiting for the part where you say "Only joking, OFC I didn't fold the AQ on the QQ67 board, I called and let him value own himself with KQ/QJ/QT etc and snapped him off on the river." Is that in the next Vlog? :/
@aislephive

On one hand that AQ fold was really bad.. on the other I respect the hell out of Brad for including it in here. Shows he has a ton of integrity and isn't afraid to show when he makes a bad mistake.

Not sure what the letter says but that King of Spades card is just taped in there. I believe the other side is a blown up image of the King of Spades so that cares is just a reference. The other side is a King of Spades but blown up to a point where it's art.

The AQ fold might seem bad, but it wouldn't have seemed bad if the other guy had a boat...
@abermen
@abermen 5 лет назад
Not really. Pretty unlikely the guy has a boat there. A player as loose as Brad is describing almost certainly wouldn't limp with 66 or 77 pre. Only possibility is that he has Q6 or Q7 which is pretty unlikely considering there's only one other Q in the deck, and if he's got the fourth Q why would he just call a tiny bet on the flop then reraise huge on the turn, the line makes no sense. You gotta call or shove there and if he's got you it's just not your day.

I've been following Brad for years and love the guy. I never comment on youtube, and don't think I ever have but I ran to my computer due to this fold. Somehow I've never seen this vlog but am ASTONISHED at his fold at 17:59. I feel like Brad has improved as a player and wouldn't fold this today, he's a pro but he's not playing against pros lol. In a 2/5 game no matter where I was or who the raiser was I would never fold this... it's fun to watch some old Brad Owen vlogs and see how he's developed as a player because I don't think he'd ever fold this today. Brad I'd be honoured if a comment you would still fold this today, two years later? For me, in a 2/5 game, there's just no way!

Made a bad read. Hadn't seen him 3-bet post flop as a bluff. Saw him play other bad holdings like 95o preflop so couldn't take Q7 or Q6 out of his range. I saw his hand, made adjustments, and got him several times after by calling light. I think it's important to show the worst hands I play.

Brad love the vlogs. I know you might regret the fold anyways but I think villain can raise worse Qx in that AQ hand. On the Q6 hand I love the call-down. In my opinion, after he 3-bet pre, there are literally 3 hands in his range that should triple barrel that runout. Bet/check/bet is a better line for him since he should be checking his whole range on the middle card pairing turn (you have AT-T8 suited in your range). If he has AA or KK he is terrified of that shitty runout so he does not rep overpairs (also AA and KK does not expect action from Qx on this river, so it should never bet). So he reps three combinations of hands: TsTh, 9h9c, and QsQh. So if you put AT LEAST 2 bluff combos in his range, the call is mathematically correct. Doug Polk might have folded turn or river since he knows his range is protected by all of his Tx he can have in that spot, but I really think Doug would "deviate from GTO" and make this call-down vs such a massive punter. I know I would :) great vids keep em coming. Hope to meet you and play some day when I'm 21 :))))))

I love your strategy of 3-betting depolarized in position, because of how rare 4-bets are in these games. I may adopt a similar strategy myself, it seems pretty great for a lot of situations. Online we usually flat 98s type hands because getting 4-bet sucks. But live it makes sense to mostly 3bet and sometimes flat.

Last hand seems like a solid call down. His preflop action looks capped but probably isn't, he will have AA and KK possibly because he doesn't want to miss value by jamming. But you can probably remove 99-QQ which as played are the only hands you're worried about. With these pre flop assumptions and his post flop play we can eliminate AA and KK too. By the river the only value I can see him having is exactly 9T. And this guy who you say bluffs a lot I definitely like how you played the hand aside from the questionable preflop open and 3b flat ;)

DUUUUDEEE nooooo 😭 my exact thoughts as you start to describe folding vs our “QJ of diamonds” friend. You ARE at the top of your range. He isn’t playing 66 this way anyway. Forget that stuff about being stuck on the night ect, you only get so many nutted hands especially vs villains we know are more than capable of spewing. I guess you just have to jam. Putting him on Q8+, 77 for value and hearts as bluffs so maybe just jam turn. But oh man A9o
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
Yeah :/ it was very bad. I don't think he does it for value with worse hands. Q7 and Q6 are also possible. Especially when you co sided the hand he had with Q3 that I go over next. I had seen him call preflop with 95o and various other garbage. Hadn't seen him make ridiculous plays by that point postflop. I got him several times after though.

One quick question Did the QJ guy rebuy after shipping it with Jhigh?? AQ hand: I don't know what the correct answer here but I wouldn't be folding on the turn based on a read. I would kind of look at my range as you initially tried to. So I think this is a shove plus you still have outs. Cooler time. Q6 diamond: well I can't say I like the opening with that hand just because it can't make str8s good pairs but flushes also it doesn't play well post flop and doesn't play well multi way. Another factor is that you can't really bluff a maniac. Last factor to consider is a 3 bet from any other player which will force you to probably fold pre. Especially if someone else 3-bets and the BB guy calls you will be about to play a big pot OOP against the initial (except if initial is SB) and a maniac in the hand. Your raw and realised equity's are decreasing dramatically in my opinion. As played all the stars aligned great call. In general I would tighten up my preflop range and increase my sizing to maybe 55 so that I can have better chances for a HU match up with the weaker player. Oh and when he 3-bets I maybe prefer a small 4-bet so you can take the lead on the hand and if you hit Q go to showdown easier. If he shoves well you probably fold but you will get him eventually there is no need for Q6. Those kind were of my points around these two controversial hands. Hope you liked. Thanks! Keep up the good work Brad

On the Kc10c vs Q3 vs Ac2c hand where the rec pushed 1.67K, Jeff called his last 800 all in and you folded. Any consideration given to calling because you think you beat the rec player? Calling him would have created a side pot of 1734 basically making your all a free roll on the chance you beat Jeff

On the lay down where your friend Jeff wins the monster pot, aren’t you getting a ‘free’ call since you’d win back ~$820 from the rec player if youre fairly sure you’re ahead of him? You lose $850 to Jeff, but get $820 back so you’re free rolling in hopes Jeff has JTclubs? Curious of your thoughts Brad

Brad, had you called the river bet in the KcTc big hand you would have broken even on that river bet because you had the rec player beat. You would have lost $850 to Jeff but you would have won the $1,600 side pot which basically meant break even on the last bet. Having said that, it was an obvious and correct fold. I wonder if Jeff would have snapped called if he had had $3K left in from of him (instead of $850) having to worry about you behind him as well.

Not being funny but guys that are mocking the fold here with AQ, I play literally tens of thousands of hands at microstakes online poker and I have mostly called in spots like that and bled money as they almost always have it in them spots. I know this is live and you see so fewer hands compared to online and possibily dare I say, players mix it up more and dont play "face up", but this is genuinly a tough spot. He is repping massive strength and it made me want to throw up at the tough spot Brad was put in. Without live reads and history of player etc, nobody can say too much. Online they almost always have a boat in that spot.... Well my hand history shows that time and again, lol

On the KT club hand did you think the rec player had you? Because you were basically free rolling Jeff to call the Rec's all in.

I know the feeling of making a really nitty fold because you have fought your way back to even and don't want to lose it all back in one hand. Then you see that you folded the best hand and it's a really sickening feeling. Good learning experience though.

i have to agree that it's a bad fold. in most instances.. your first instinct about a player is right. "so folding is the right move because that was my initial instinct... right?"... no. Your initial instinct about that player was remembering that he was a loose aggressive player. the fact that you remembered him for that last QJ shove should always be a factor in it. i'm sure he knew who you were, too. i'm sure he saw that vlog. information based on what you give out on any particular hand is also made known to the people you play against. with that in mind. more often than not.. he makes that move knowing that he can get you to fold unless you have a full house or better. it was up to you to remember that he can do that and that your initial encounter with him is more often the way he really plays. so yeah.. i think you have to call or shove more often than not because of how he's perceived. i don't think he push shoves with basically the nuts against you in any case aside from the river. he wants to try to milk you as much as he can because he's loose aggressive. edit: although.. i will say.. the fact that you knew that you could get in the right state of mind to tell yourself, "we can get in to a better spot and do it in a safer manner" is what makes you a great player. i just feel like, in that particular moment, for that particular hand with your previous information known.. it's a good spot to get it. but, your diligence is what makes you a great player

Hi Brad... I know I am late to the party... recently found your blog.. I have a question... in the hand Kc10c.. where you friend had the better flush draw... did you feel the rec player had the goods? if not ... it would have made more sense to call... if you felt you were beating the rec player... you were only risking $30 ... you guys had your friend covered by 620 and you had the rec player covered by 210... so in the end as long as you beat him your stack would have been 1890 ... so you only lose 30... but if you would have been beating your friend ...it would have been crushing to watch him count all those chips... just curious what your thought process was... not saying you were wrong,. just would like to know if I missed any angles I should consider,

Hi Brad thanks for the great vlog! But i have a question relates to your AdQc hand, thanks to answer :) Your pot size shove is +EV, ok, and yes you blocks the nuts, and you are at the bottom, nice, etc.But are you aware that you make him fold just a very little part of his range; his bottom range here is very narrow , something like 40 combos :AJo, KQo, type hands? So, i like your shove but it's very high variance since he can call you much of the time. What do you think ?

Hahaha, Very entertaining as always. I can't believe you didn't know about Saskatchewan, but Australia, fake, name doesn't even make sense and to try to make it real with a "boomerang" that's just a crooked stick, geez no wonder Cosmo is embarrassed. Great lay down with the flush. Nice win. Wish you could upload more often but quality takes time, it's not like you're putting out a 3 part vlog looking for a box of hats. (Sorry T......)

The question wasn’t was it a good call. The questions was it a good bet on him. I’ve played many like him they bet big on any sign of weakness. They are very difficult. Good call. Should of been all in on the turn imo
