Ive been tracking these amps for awhile now because the concept is so good. The reason I havent jumped in is because I dont want an amp that isnt a Class A tube amp. If I wanted that... I could go get a high end modeler like an Axe FX, Helix, Kemper, etc.. I understand the idea of miniaturizing the great big heads from back in the day, but if a tube isnt creating the tone, then there is bound to be a loss in the transition to a modeled or analog circuit being the creator of that tone. I can sit all day and watch various amp makers do sound demos about how their product is indistinguishable from a tube amp. The problem as I see it is that they always miss the mark. Always. ..and the compromise is too great in my opinion. What I would love to see from this particular product is more integration/involvement of the tube/s into the actual creation of the tone.... both on the preamp side and on the power amp side. If that takes 2 tubes, then great. Let it use 2 tubes. Then and only then will I seriously consider making one of these my every day "go to" amp. I think that this concept is probably one of the best things to come along for guitarists since Leo was designing amps back in the 50's. I just dont think it's quite there yet. You asked for feedback, so there it is. : ) Thanks

Kris, what is the model of that telecaster?some kind of custom shop? have seen it in other videos and you always pull off nice cleans and a good modern rock tone. what kind of pickups is in it? And the Amp1 is just amazing, have been playing with it for a few weeks and it is so versatile, portable and covers such a wide range of musical genres. I just can't be bothered with tube amps anymore. this will be my go to for a long time.
@SuperEklund
@SuperEklund 5 лет назад
On a side note A week ago i compared it to a ´72 JMP 50watt superlead, it had the one wire mod installed. I couldn't tell the difference, and even if there is a difference, it would be lost when the drummers starts playing. It felt good when i walked out with my whole rig in a gig bag and a ported Zilla 1x12. ;)

Every time i hear it i get a little bit closer to justifying the custom shop prices. Its one of the best sounding guitars i have seen/heard. Thomas certainly has made a good sounding product, one of my favourite things about it after the sounds is that it has all the nice modern tech features but still kept it "analog". I have purchased and sold so many Products with a display and its so distracting going trough menus to find a sound instead of turning it on and start playing.

There's an anecdote from the area of the second industrial revolution...: to prove their advanced state, France or England ( I don't know it sure...) proudly sent the thinnest iron wire of that times to Germany. Gergmany answered...: they sent that wire back them...but that was pierced longwise...! :)) I think Thomas Blug has done something similar. :)) Grat!!!!

@SuperEklund
@SuperEklund 5 лет назад
Yes, i have one and you will not be disappointed by late at night low volume tones. Go get it ;) But i should mention that i have 2 different cabs, one closed back 2x12 with g12h 70:anniversary and that really needs volume to get the bass response in the cabinet going, and then i have a ported 1x12 with a creamback speaker and that is amazing for getting the big bottom end that fills the room, if you are a bedroom player get a ported cab :)

Also, you can use the power soak configuration with a MIDI controller or the remote 1. It will solve all your problems
@volv
@volv 5 лет назад
@@SteveRayMorse It's a shame power soak is not controllable through the main unit itself though. Not sure if the AMP1 alone is going to be good enough for bedroom use. Remote1 is quite expensive considering I would use it for power soak only.
@SuperEklund
@SuperEklund 5 лет назад
I am considering buying the remote1 just to expand on the preset functions, but it is not necessary at all to get good tones on low volume. Amp1 has a really good master volume and "power section volume" you can drive the power section and not loose headroom while still back down the channel volume to get desired "bedroom" tones I have found in the past with different powersoaks or voltage reduction devices that they take away the headroom, so your left with low volume with a lot of gain and no dynamics. This is not the case with this circuit design. It really is swiss army knife equally suited for the @home noodler and gigging musician.
@SteveRayMorse
@SteveRayMorse 5 лет назад
@@volv agree. But you can get good tones without It at low levels too. I did buy remote 1 for the preset expansion and not even use power soak.

If you want a tube amp, get a tube amp. If you want an imitation of a tube amp, then by all means go for that. Listen from 2:47 and just hear how when he switches to the emulation, it loses all body and weight. For the size it is great, but is by no means the real thing. Kind of dishonest of him to pitch it as no compromise 1to1 kind of technology when their is clearly a drop-off in tone.
@samuelguymer4358
@samuelguymer4358 5 лет назад
It's a tiny difference in EQ not in tone or character. Having AB'd an amp1 against mesa, marshalls and fenders extensively i'd rather use an amp1 anyday than the digital Kemper junk because amp1 is a real tube amp.

Have you played a big Marshall valve amp before? There is a particular character to the attack that you just don't get with transistor amps which tend to be more immediate and crisp response. To create the same kind of dynamics in a small hybrid unit like the BluG Amp1 is very impressive indeed.

@ThomannsGuitarsBasses
@ThomannsGuitarsBasses 5 лет назад
That's actually an interesting idea. How would you image it? One preamp and then two FX loops for stereo effects, so one for each 50W power amps? //Kris
@Javier-qk7ms
@Javier-qk7ms 5 лет назад
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses Exactly, one preamp and to stereo poweramps, each 50 watt, Send-L, Send-R, Return-L, Return-R. If the power amps are calss D as he claims then they can be internally sharing the same ground connection which should solve the problem of ground loops among two different discrete amps. I know that cause I have used my Stealth Power amp in stereo with absolutely no ground loops and I use a single tube based preamp AMT SS-20. The cool thing about the SS class D power section is, unlike real tube amps, you can use only one side for mono operation and the side you are not using will not get damaged, a real tube amp with output transformers that does not have a load will blow. The SS Class D won't. So a stereo Amp1 could be used 50 watts for mono gigs and 50-50 watts for stereo gigs. Edit: Or look at the Stealth Power Amp, I can safely use one side of the stereo for a small gig, two stereo sides for a big stereo gig or a mono bridged output for bit mono gigs. Edit 2: And it does not have to be 50-50, maybe 30-30 or something like that. 60 watts in mono bridged or 30+30 in stereo can be already quite loud, assuming his power section can deliver as advertise.
