I love all things Blur, and the britpop tongue-in-cheek thing really spoke to me as a pre-teen, but when they made 13 they made magic that will last forever. Such beauty and filth, perfectly hand in hand. They probably all felt really fucking shitty during that era, but luckily all their hardship spawned a masterpiece of an album, that set a high bar for the new millenium in rock music. A band at the peak of their creativity!
The outro to "Beetlebum" never fails to give me chills and make me cry. I feel inspired to pick up a guitar after watching Graham play. This final minute of the song is truly remarkable. Such a wondrous thing of difficult, raw, gritty beauty. A wail of pain, a cry of agony, a scream of desperation. I'm so grateful this tune exists!
