Definitely like the add-on/take-off option with the rail extensions. I went with Zacuto because the rods line up so much better and there's a direct connect versus using a "bridge" or adapter piece in between. Sometimes vibrations, especially from car mounts, can start to loosen things up.
@joenicklo
@joenicklo 3 года назад
You're right about the vibrations for sure. I'd like to move towards a unified baseplate system, such as the bright tangerine left field plates.

Hey, great video. Helps a lot especially us new BMPCC owners! So, I also have the Atomos V and I noticed you have 2 cables listed to power it from the battery. Which one do you recommend?
@joenicklo
@joenicklo 4 года назад
Hi lance glad you enjoyed the video. I listed two cables for two price points. I suggest the Atomos brand cable since it has the locking screw that will prevent it from accidentally coming unplugged. This is really important if you’re recording to the the ninja V (not something you’d do for the BMPCC).

First time on this channel, very nice video. I have a very similar. Which cable to you use to power the ninja V when connected to your V-mount? Thanks

Hey Pierre, thanks for stopping by. Check the link in the description for the cable I use. I included the Atomos brand cable but I've also included a much cheaper alternative with the Alvin's cables version. The Atomos version has a nice locking screw that prevents the cable from accidently coming unplugged, just like the wall outlet cable that comes w/ the Ninja V.

Bro, I could be totally wrong on this but I'm confident enough to type it. I'm pretty sure a hot shoe is one that communicates with the camera and a cold shoe is one that doesn't. The BMPCC doesn't have a hot shoe and it looks like the cage you're using doesn't either. Otherwise, great video.

The big problem with any rig system is if you are the one pulling focus and not a 1st AC, then the focus wheel system is a nightmare given that you then only have ONE hand providing the main point of contact instead of being two hands. So other than a focus side handle, there really is no other way in that scenario at least.
@joenicklo
@joenicklo Год назад
Agreed, but if you're filming solo...what else can you do?
@RavikantRai21490

@joenicklo
@joenicklo 4 года назад
Lee, I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I've found that both the Ninja V and the Shinobi look different than what I'm seeing on the P4K and even the P6K camera displays. That's DOES concern me, however I tend to use the monitors for their exposure tools. In the end, you can't trick a waveform monitor or a vectorscope, or focus peaking for that matter. Hope this helps!

This is a superb setup. Do you use the 14.8V on the P-Tap of the battery brick then straight to the 12V DC jack in the BMPCC4K? Or 8v from battery to a dummy battery? Last question; what’s safer for the camera - currently I am using a 14.8V P-Tap then straight to my BMPCC6K’s 12V DC jack (No LP-E6 batteries stuck inside the camera). The camera’s battery icon states that it’s receiving 15V. Will that damage the BMPCC 4K or 6K? Thanks!
@joenicklo
@joenicklo 3 года назад
I never use a dummy battery, I use the power port on the side of the camera and run into a D-Tap splitter, which is plugged into my V-Mount battery. How is Tilta mini follow focus when using it on 200 degree focus ring of the lens?

Sorry, I don't really understand the question.

Driven Films I mean the follow focus is so small. I am not sure it is suitable for using long focus throw lens like 200 - 270 degree.

Warathanut S. Yes, that’s true. I haven’t used it in a bigger lens and probably wouldn’t. For the lenses I use, it works.

A 98Wh battery will only power the camera for 3-4 hours? I've heard people say that it will last the entire day. I'm saving up for a V-Loc battery, but should I instead go for something like a 150Wh or 195Wh?

So I couldn’t total it all up since prices have changed but including everything including the microphones, monitor, SSD....it’s around $2500 USD. This does not include the lens or the speedbooster. This may seem crazy considering the camera is only $1300 (or $2000 for a 6K) but I owned a lot of this stuff prior to buying the pocket 4K and also use it on other setups with higher end cameras.

Was waiting on this one. I film on a sigma 18-35mm. I was using it to film this video so it couldn’t be on the rig. Is that real enough or do I need a Cooke lens to justify the use of a matte box? ;)
