Color grading is subjective and takes time to learn, one must be patient and learn nonetheless. You can save a lot of money and headaches buying other people’s formula for grading. I’m not knocking Juan now, because he’s great at what he does. But, he took the time to learn. I implore everyone to take the time in this crisis and learn how to color correct and grade 😀
Wow! My biggest problem with the default Rec709 is that it reduces dynamic range by 2 stops on the Pocket 4k and 6k, and you end up blowing the highlights. But THIS, this looks phenomenal. How did he achieve this much dynamic range with his power lut? This is the one everyone should use. Would love to see it with the Pocket 6k. Great video
@@Jsfilmz I mean seriously, it looks so much like an Alexa with fantastic skin tones and highlights preservation, that it makes the Pocket 4k and 6k a fantastic purchase. So glad you made this video. Cheers
@@leebrandt33 hahaah yea man i freaked out when i saw it on his page cos i knew he was great. I think hes still going to be working on future versions.
@@Jsfilmz I kept telling people that the Pocket 4k and 6k have PLENTY of dynamic range. Now they'll be able to see. I'm shooting a movie later this year, all inside a dark dinner with daylight coming from the windows. This look might help
ive been following juan since 2018, and dude when a few days ago he released this I was SO intrigued. Thank you so much bro for showing us how it works, since it looks like a great investment
The PowerGrade looks great! I've been using Matteo Bertolli's Buttery LUTs on my BMPCC4K as a base for almost all of my video work (you can see on y channel if you would like) but having the flexibility in a PowerGrade sounds even more enticing. Definitely have to check this out. Would you really need to buy the LUT if you buy the PowerGrade? Couldn't you just export the grade as a LUT and save yourself 10 bucks and have the ability to adjust it for your project if you want to install on your camera?
@@Weareclairvoyance i have 6k , however there was 2 option while creating lut , 33 point cube and 65 point cube. which one did u prefer? also do you shoot at 800 iso now ?
@@Jsfilmz my BMPCC 4K will be here tomorrow, so I am viewing and re-viewing your tutorials, and it hit me...have I ever said thanks for all you have done and continue to do? appreciate you so much, bro! Because of your due-diligence, I feel like I'm skipping a lot of sweat-equitiy and jumping right into the beauty of this camera. And listening closely I found our point of commonality..." it's just something about (insert expletive here) that I have loved (and coveted) for years.
Hi Jsfilmz, first of all forgive my english, i'm french. i follow your tutorials very often and was very interested by this one. I buy the power grade Bmpcc 4k and try it. But the result is just horrible... have you install some special settings in the color management ? i shoot in Bmraw... Thank's for your video and maybe your answer. Regards. Lionel
Hi, how can i send you the clip that i try to apply the power grade ? have you an email or something like that ? Thank you in advance. Best regards. Lionel
@@Jsfilmz Yes. That 'Summer Blockbuster Look' episode made him a Hero of Color Grading for the DSLR shooters. You made me remember him after long 4/5 years and I just visited his website a few minutes ago. He is still the best on the internet.
This was a really informative video keep up the good work but can you please make video like this for canon if possible because arri plus canon would would also be at a different level
mate so i was experimenting with the powergrade , he suggest setting tint to +15 if you have uriv filter for 6k . which i have . but there is a tint node in powergrade but also we have classic colortemp tint exposure setting in camera raw menu. which one i should use to setting up tint. idk if there is a reason for tint node ?
hey bro the tint node in the node tree adds the arri alexa tint to the footage if i remember right. change the tint similar to how i change it on this video. Above all, trust ur eyes when it comes to adding or removing tint. go with what looks right. dont stick to a number. hope this helps
So did you start to shoot 800 iso now and give up from native iso ? or you still shoot with 400 disable first node ? or shoot 400 and use grade as it is ? :)
@@zweiche get some dynamic range but the distribution is different 800 will give u slightly more in the highlights. Also 800 is native for arri alexa so if u want it to look the closest use 800.
