The BMPCC4K is an amazing purchase even after being 5 years on the market. Your entry into cinematography could not be easier !!!
In this video i compare the 2 with a A and B sample test , nothing fancy straigh image comparison and a few words about the system and why you should consider getting it even after all this time.

The biggest give away for me was the stabilization. Panasonic are quite spot on with their stabilization (from a former GH5; now Sony shooter).

Pocket 4k with speed booster absolutely destroys the s5iix. I have both, just bought the 4k a month ago for a fashion campaign b cam to my 6k pro. Got it with the intention of running vintage lenses. Had no idea the 12 bit 4k raw would be so amazing. Just bought the pd movie lidar for it. I honestly can’t believe how good it is

Ad sharpness in post. Create a blank last node, click the blur sharpness, click the sharp tab, change from .50 to .47. Left click the node, go to color space, click LAB, then disable channel 2 and 3. You’re welcome

This last year I moved from the original micro cinema to the s5. The raw footage clips you’ve posted here could almost have been from a comparison of those two cameras! When I saw the A-B it was so obvious!! They are very different, but for me, I feel the s5 is way more versatile but also more work in post/colour grading to get the image where I want it. Even the menu system on the micro cinema camera was easier to navigate than the S5…

I own the Lumix S5iix and had no interest in BM cameras until the 6kFF came out. I purchased it because it was L-mount and I can share my lenses, I already had v-mount batteries because the battery life on the 6kff is really bad, and finally because it has a 1.6 anamorphic de-squeeze factor which perfectly matches my set of Sirui anamorphic cine lens set. I shoot in open gate and it's a fantastic image. I also already had a bunch of CFExpress cards but I mostly capture to SSD. I wish it had a dedicated TC port but for the price it's pretty good. One annoying thing is that it can't keep time. I always have a battery on it and always charged but if I don't turn it on every couple of days then it can be off by days or months. I researched and found this is a common problem with BM cameras but how hard is it to put a crystal system in there to keep the time.

So for an S5iix owner would you recommend buying the 6kFF blackmagic?
@rickseigh460
@rickseigh460 7 месяцев назад
@@RodericAlonzo Well it all depends. I decided to sell mine. I was going to keep it to only do Anamorphic but that's a pretty expensive niche. I didn't really like the plastic build quality, the fact that it can't hold the time, no timecode, bad battery life. Decided to pray on the new S1H mark II.
@RodericAlonzo
@RodericAlonzo 7 месяцев назад
@@rickseigh460 Thanks for that. I can appreciate anamorphics but for me it was more about braw and the OLPF. I know you can get braw with the panasonic but the cost of blackmagic video assist is too high for me. (For an external recorder)
@rickseigh460
@rickseigh460 7 месяцев назад
@@RodericAlonzo It's very usable and I hope that they provide firmware updates as the noise level above 800 ISO is pretty bad. It's supposed to have dual ISO but the higher ISO didn't look good. I'm using the BM 5" video assist on the Lumix S5iix so doing Blackmagic raw to the new Samsung T9. Had dropped frames today at Q0 so not happy with that. I'll lower the data rate and test a little more.

@@lightleaked that company doesn’t do much slouching. They’re lowering the barrier to enter in the world of creating real cinema.

I would recommend getting bmpcc 4k only if you can't afford something better. Updates are good and all, but I see lack of information and buzz for this camera online. If you get it now, you WILL feel left behind, because most of the people have moved on to bmpcc 6k or other brands with bigger sensors. bmpcc4k is great, I have no plans to replace it soon, but S5IIX would be a better overall choice for someone looking for a new camera.

Just shot a $15k brand video with the p4k. 12 bit 4k raw is insane.

@@mostunicorn750 for a pocket 4k leaves you a lot of room for buying things that matter like lighting and lenses, even sound. People who feel left behind would probably do better shooting in an iPhone tbh

@@hhankx At my place, a new bmpcc 4k costs 1380 Eur. Then you NEED to buy some battery solution, probably a rig to hold an SSD + screen. Maybe a follow focus, a speedbooster, because it's cheaper to use your old lenses than buying a set of new 4/3 lenses... It's not a problem for pros, but for most people it's a bit too much. Buying a gimbal is also a challenge because of the form factor. If you rig it up, it's great, but cameras like S5IIx just make it so much simpler, mobile and efficient. And you can even take photos :) That's why I would recommend it for beginners, enthusiasts, people who film events, or want to be on the go, etc. I feel Bmpcc is for more "serious" work, like short films, studio work, commercials and so on.

Also, no offense - this is a terrible video sample of both cameras. The cam B blacks are nowhere near zero. Did you even try to color grade?
@lightleaked
@lightleaked 7 месяцев назад
😅 love the honesty mate, yeah the samples are terrible and garbage and are pure 709 conversion for lumix and " video(same as 709) " on BMD 4k, straight out of camera , so no color grading , i think it would defeat the purpose. This is pure braw 4K DCI against 6K Prores 422 HQ.

You didn’t set these cameras up correctly. I have the Pocket 4k, Cinema 6k and Panasonic S1 and they are much closer than you examples. Some of your frames look horrible and non of them should.

@@lightleaked You know that there are many other videos on yt shoot on S5IIx, and rarely does it look as bad as in your video. Is the monitor you are using calibrated, because something is definitely wrong. S5IIx has a 10-bit recording and color grading can certainly be done better, but if you don't have a good monitor, it will turn out disastrously, like yours. It is also possible that you have set some setting on the S5IIx incorrectly and it affects the shots to look bad, so I recommend resetting the device to factory settings, maybe you will get a better result.

from the beginning, camera a is visibly softer, but when in one of the hand-held shots camera a was shaking and camera b was not, the suspicions became 100% certain 😂😂😂 your content is very very nice, good and helpful 👌🤌💪💪💪
