I’ve heard about people putting these in cars, like a Hillman Imp. I bet you could put the bigger engines in a Volkswagen Type 1 or something like a Ford Pop, if you can find a good transmission for it.
I am sorry to say but I have 3 K's in my garage and it scared me to see how you build this beautiful engine together. Nowhere you use anti seize on the (correct me if I am wrong) baumarkt bolt threads, a shit load of silicon but not on the junctions of different engine parts when you install the covers.....there will be oil leaks! the rubber seals do not need any other sealant! then the main bearing seal: How do you know that one is correct ie 0.5 mm out of the engine, you may lock up the oil drain behind it and oil leaks are programmed. There is a tool to lock the engine for turning when you have to torque the Hexnut of the clutchplate to 140Nm, loosen it and retighten it to 100Nm...I haven't see you doing this (same for alternator bolt). When you want to help the viewers, please do it right and according BMW, clymers or Haynes manual....other than this I like any video about k bikes engines. Oh, before you start the engine....fill up the oilfilter first!!!! as you haven't use any assembly lube, this way your engine does not spin a minute to fill up the oil filter first and then lube the engine! just an advise ;-) Lg, Frank
Hey Frank, first of all thanks for your feedback :) As I mentioned in my first episode I am not a professional two wheel mechanic. It's the first time I work on a K so let's say rookie lvl, prepare for more mistakes during the build xD I have to admit this was a very challenging part so I appreciate every useful advise I get! Not every step was visible in the video or timelapse. I did torque the clutch properly with the correct specs, I just had no tool to lock the engine in an easy way so thats why it looks a bit strange. I am not sure about the main shaft sealer, I guess I have to wait until I start the engine for the first time. No matter how the story ends, at least it will be entertaining for the audience, either everything is tight and happy or the engine is leaking on every corner and I'm sad. However I will fill up the filter before hitting the start button, thanks for the tip ;-) Best regards, Patrick
