@@rahusband yep.. your windows need to be 100% functional. . Problem with your windows any of them it won't work at all. Window motors also as they sense the if the window is shut or open. Then you need to get it on a machine and have it all reset as the alignment will also be out due to opening manually and will give of error codes on ecu. Boot wont work until windows work and roof is folding again. I did this fix on myself. Again 100% window issue
Thank you for your video. Have you encountered a situation where the bowden cables fail to release the deck? Passenger side appears to have worked but driver side cable does not release the latch, despite being fully extended. Thanks again!
@@jdcarsek1557 Hey no problem. Thanks for the reply. My guess is that the stuck release and soft top closing failure are the same problem. Time to pull some panels.
Mate I ysed your guide to.get my failed roof back up 2010 model M3 auto. Which I was very grateful for however. Now my boot will not open, any top tips or helpful hints gratefully accepted. Rgds Andy
I'm sure if the roof is non operational The boot switch is deactivated The fault in the roof has to be repaired in order to reinstate all switch functions
Thanks for the vid mate, really helped!! HOWEVER, I manually put my roof down because my driver side window did not work (so wouldn't go down) I put it back up manually and now it keeps beeping saying the roof is not secure. Do you know how to fix this!!?? Thanks
@@keagangough3475 The alien key used in the vid Use this to release the roof Lift the rear of the roof Pull the 2 release in the boot Lift the rear of the roof Lift the cover panel Put the roof into the compartment And close the cover If the boot won't open You'll need to dismantle the rear seats
We did have this problem And the only way we did it was to dismantle the rear seat and pull off the boot panel which exposed the emergency release cable inside Terrible design I know That's how we got the boot open When the boot switch was inoperable
Why do you have to use the cable to open the trunk? Can you just use the key fob to do it if you have the fob? I'm just trying to fix something and want to manually open the convertible hatch, but can use the fob to open the trunk, right?
I have a problem with a car I'm working on, maybe you can help. I have a 2013 BMW 128i that I am trying to replace the rear shocks on. Need to open the boot to get to the upper shock mounts. I can get the top to go down, no codes in roof module or any other top related codes anywhere else. I opened the trunk and pulled the two release cables, but then shut the trunk. Now the trunk won't open, again no trunk related codes. I have to get the trunk open to do anything with this. When I look at the upper back seat to try to get into the trunk through the inside all I see is the container bag for the conv top. Any ideas how I can open this trunk?? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I have a customers trunk half disassembled, with everything from their trunk inside the car and can't open the trunk to put it all back together.
Hi, my roof was going down but the rear shelf didn't go down before the canopy closed, so the canopy is closed and shelf is on the outside, so it won't automatically open or close and I can get into the boot because the rear shelf isn't inside the car! Any ideas?? Cheers
Need to remove the rear seats Pull the boot cover off from inside the boot cavity You'll see the emergency release pull wire Pull it The boot will open
