This is the reality for many attempting to change drive shaft. Nut is difficult to remove. Well done for not glossing over this.

Good video and job done patiently even with usual difficulty in this sort of jobs.I have just replaced both rear driveshafts on my E90 BMW due to abs fault.First I was thinking to replace the abs rings only to save over cost of replacing both driveshafts but I didn’t buy the rings until seeing the condition of the area on driveshaft’s where the ring is situated. So this was only possible when the shafts are out.The end lock nut on O/s/r looked pretty rusty so I knew I will face difficulty in removing it.I am always patient carrying difficult jobs so I plan it carefully and don’t rush.A day before I sprayed wd40 on both nuts.Next day I heated the nut on o/s for about five minutes with a blow torch. Then supported the socket and six inch extension on a stand.Connect long breaker bar and almost stand on the end to exert my whole weight. At the beginning it looked the breaker bar would snap but I carried on thinking if it breaks so be it.To my surprise the nut cracked open with a bang.Rest was not to bad and I managed to get both shafts out.On the n/s it was more work disconnecting exhaust to get the shaft out.In the end upon examining the shafts there was so much rust under the rings that it made sense to replace the shafts altogether. Thanks for reading.By the way the only concern I have is that when knocking the shafts out of the hubs the ideal method is a puller tool or a copper punch to avoid damage to the shaft end.

What shafts did you put in oem?

I did not replace with genuine BMW part as this was too expensive but I used new shafts from other manufacture r which was much cheaper and to this day I never had any problems!
