BMW 1250 RT Fuel Door Problems Won't Open 

I have had issues with my 2023. I have used the key Fob close to it and it worked for me. Also make sure you have your bags unlocked. Also have you re-read your manual, and or stopped at your dealer and ask them to open it for you. I know, I know, I did and they showed me the two steps above and it has worked ever since.

i think it’s because you stopped the engine with the red button on the right. you d better stop engine with the central button

Hello there! :) Another idea, beyond what has been mentioned, I personally always refuel with the center stand in place ;)

if it happens when you are far from home - screwdriver under seat , loosen two front hex screws on cap , it will open

Stop the enfgine with the central button, then it will work. Strange logic, but it works.

Central locking is engauge because the ignition is still on. Also, when closing the cap, always lift the opening tab as you close or you can knock it out of adjustment by slamming the cap to latch it.

I’ve had that issue several times on my 2019 1250 Rt. I just turned the ignition on, then turned it off again. Problem solved.

I had this same problem with my 17 R1200GSA but it only ever occurred at one particular station on two separate occasions. On one trip I just moved to a different station and on a second, I used the supplied tools to remove the front section of the fuel ring so I could manually open the fuel door.

So frustrating I'm selling mine. $30K bike and piece of garbage gas cap. Works intermittently. Widespread problem with no fix. Took it to the dealer and it worked for them and then didn't work 3 times after that and then, magically, it worked. I've read everything, followed instructions, still rarely works as designed.

thats why i dont want that stuppid automattic lock

several thoughts... maybe when its cold things move a tad and put some side pressure on the locking pin? others would be to take a piece of emery to the pin and smooth it out. test to see if its the cold put it up in the garage and run the heater near it for 10 minutes or so and see if it still gives you issues

Mine is doing the same thing.

It's never a good idea to fill up when a tanker is at the station: it can stir up debris in the grd tanks. I don't think this is your central lock system. Its the pin on the tank ring. My 2019 R1250RT has not had this issue, but I have seen another video on here explaining the problem if you search it.I believe a tiny bit of lube on that pin fixed the issue. If not go back to the dealer. Its such a great bike though, Stay safe!

Central locking?

Never go keyless. I had a bike for 2 years and had nothing but problems. Sold it and went back to a key.

First time was after 30 seconds had past. Second time was within the 30 seconds
