Keep up the good work! Make sure you get rid of ALL the RUST From that floor and rails, or youll just be throwing good Money after bad! - Are you going to get it Acid bath Dipped once you got the rust cut out and the structure sured up? (Acid bath would be a well worth while investment to make sure the rust is TOTALLY GONE! THEN you can anti-rust it once all welded up and itll last another 50+ years!) OOps hit wrong button--hey, I'm an old fart trying to pretend I know something. anyway, 8-10 foot diameter and that's where pieces will fly if disc shatters. You do not want to be in the way. that face shield not guaranteed protection and what about rest of your body. Need to always be beside that imaginary 8-10 foot disc not in line with it. Stick to straight cuts, curves bind disc and can shatter. Want to know how I learned this? I was lucky, I wasn't in line with disc

Hey Kelly getting a kick out of seeing your project. Hate to be armchair expert but I spent 45 years welding and fitting before I retired and you have every right to be scared of that grinder. Safety pretty big deal where I worked and those cutoff discs were a major concern to the point of being forbidden on some sites, especially up north in the tar sands. But anywhere you get tired of the job want out just take guard off and make sure safety people see you --- fired on spot and you're out of there. Those discs are brittle, they break easily, and no warning or time to get out of way. You won't know it broke until no more cut. Imagine that little disc is actually 8-10 feet diameter,

Aaarrw! a little fire won't hurt anyone. You only panic when the flames knock your face shield off. Or your shirts on fire. I'd be using a air hack saw. They are quieter and easier to use. So easy to hand on to.

Grinder are scary when you first start using them. Even every single bloke feels the same, I don’t care what any of them say. So we’ll done giving it a go. They do become easy tho
