In todays video I will be ripping out the old, crusty nasty carpet in my BMW 2002!
I keep referring to the carpet as floors... its just what we've been saying so don't come for me for talking it that lol.
ALSO I do swear a lot... I didn't realize how much until I started to edit this video, next video I will definitely be working on that!
Be sure to follow long my journey of restoring this BMW 2002! (:

Out standing. You guys are on the same mission. Exactly as me. ❤ I also just acquired 2 BMW 2002'S, 71 and a 74. Both barn finds.

It was a good idea to get the carpets out and the sound deadening material removed. Often cars like yours are stored outdoors and if there is any way for water to get in it will. The carpets then act as a sponge and hold water and since there is no way for that water to dry out it starts rotting the metal underneath. Now that you have all of that carpet out if you can keep all the windows and doors shut the interior will have a chance to dry out. Then you really need to look the whole car over and figure out the worst rust spots and try to get some protection on them so they don't get any worse. Floor pans are usually the worst spots for rust. You can probably cut ou the spare tire tub and weld a new one in. You also want to look for rust around the front and rear windshields. And if the car will be stored outdoors while you work on it you might want to get some kind of plastic tarp to cover it up when it rains. Nothing fancy just some plastic and some weights to hold it down to the ground.

One tip (a little late at this point): when ripping out old carpet, headliner, etc. where a dust mask. You never know what molds are dust particles you'll be disrupting. Gloves and eye protection would also be a good idea. Looks good though.

Later that night I literally thought to myself …. Wow I’m so stupid why didn’t I wear a mask 😂

@@KellyBuilds well unfortunately I speak from experience; I got seriously sick one time rummaging through an old house and kicking up molds and dust. I enjoy your RU-vid channel by the way. Can't wait to see how eveything comes out with the Beemer and the hot road truck.

You are definitely not alone in the talking to yourself area, very much guilty of that myself. I love how you use the roadster pick up to rip off bumpers and as a power source ( even though the battery was low).✌️😁

HA! Im laughing only because I just finished refreshing the interior of my '75 bmw. POR15 everything still solid, then new heater box, welded new passenger side floor pan, weld-patched rust on transmission tunnel, new carpet, seats, steering wheel. feel free to ask me anything, advice, etc. Im not a prof, but I think I did an excellent job

Thanks, I'm also fixing up a 2002. It would be great if you could improve the audio. Spoken is too low / music too loud.

Great series! I have a 1600 and I am very much a novice when it comes to working on cars so it’s good to see others who are on the same page as me and not master mechanics 🧰 😄 One bit of critique would be just keep consistent with your video audio sound. sometimes it’s super quiet and sometimes it’s suuuuper loud! Keep the videos coming though, I have subscribed 😄👍
