Thinking the exact same thing. Can do another 3-4 years with my current car and switch to this. The problem with buying new is that the depreciation on a new car is just.... painful.
@@forza223bowe5 yes but then you have to settle with what you're able to find on the market. But if you buy it new you can choose every spec of the car the way you want it.
@@mark4tesla not if you drive at normal speeds and look after it. They usually go wrong when people drive them like they have stolen them then when they get old and sold second hand someone else has to put up with the wear and tear previous reckless owners have caused this is why people think they are unreliable
9:45 to 9:58 Well , who said that most children are stuck on mobiles and iPads in a car. Also isn't it stereotypical to say that kids just see the outside view? Also what do you think is meant by older kids? As a 13 year old the only things I do in a car is 1) see the road ahead( and the other cars) 2) the rev meter 3) the speedometer 4) the gear stick
I’m 16, can’t drive, can’t buy a car, I don’t even live in the UK, and yet here I am, watching all the carwow videos just because of how entertaining they are. 😂😂
@@henrypark4356 Why are you saying this? no one asked and no one didn't know but what you said its also wrong lol. X drive has different uses and most of the x drive cars are not Haldex like VAG so no it isn't front wheel drive with power to the rear when slip is detected on the 3 series
The Kruxed you don’t have to be such a dickhead about it lol and he did not say it was FWD, he’s trying to say that it’s an AWD car but how much power is out where varies on the current conditions of driving therefore it can be driven like a RWD car
Had a Merc for 11 years. C180 (2012 facelift and a great car), C200 (wouldn't start when I went shopping one day - 6 weeks after buying it) and the C220d (replacement of the C200, this one left me stranded on the side of the highway with NO warning). Abandoned Mercedes-Benz and hubby got us The 3. I've never had this much fun in a car. I LOVE IT!
It’s a great update to the 3, the styling is so much better than the previous couple of gems, and it’s bristling with tech, but I’m really struggling with the offset pedals on longer trips. I find the right seat bolster squab really digs into my thigh if I have my foot on the accelerator.
have you got used to the offset pedals yet? I've had a 2nd hand G20 since last 6 months and even 10 mins of driving is triggering strain/pain in lower right back above bum and on the right ankle. No such issues on my VW Touran or while road cycling for 2-3 hours or running 5K. So I am fit but 10 mins on this car is triggering mentioned strain/pain; I am at the highest set position after multiple tweaks and its the best I've been able to get to with relatively least discomfort. I am 171.5 cms tall. If things finally worked for you, let me know what adjustments you made with seating etc.
I'd like to join in here. Bought a 320d xdrive 2 months ago for the daily commute. It's a LHD. The transmission tunnel is so wide both legs are twisted to the left causing pain I've never had before. Whole right leg is in bits: hamstring, butt, knee is all twisted. This isn't normal. And is never mentioned on car reviews, only on bmw forums. It's a huge issue. More than likely will have to sell car again. What a literal pain in the ass.
so this was probably filmed a little while ago but the Apple carplay thing is no longer true. it is no longer subscription based. if the car has it, it is included forever at no extra cost anymore.
Just picked up the F30 second hand at an amazing price. Well kept by the original owner. Love the performance of the car. Looking forward to driving the G20 one day.
@@stefanmoraru9544 i got mine used from BMW and been driving for about 18 months. Touch wood no issues. I would say be careful with liquids in the boot especially on the left side as thats where the control modules are for the radio antenna and speakers. Battery is also under the boot floor with these cars so keep a bootliner or shallow storage box for any paint or water bottles. Its my first BMW, love it.
Tomasz I never said it shouldn’t , I just implied that lauding it as “ the best feature” is depressing - when it is just a plug. This is a car that has thousands of engineering developments to improve the driving experience and the best feature is ...a plug.
Audi’s have it also. Makes more sense really as they will have Adaptors for you. Minus the iPhone, macs, iPads etc all use it and as we know android devices have already adopted this.
Mat struggling to lift the boot floor to get at the battery is one of the reasons I love his reviews. It reassures me: It's not just me who struggles with stuff which should be so basic. E.g. when the instructions say, "Simply rotate this or unclasp that..." and it's anything but "simple."
Carlos Lago said the same thing about the BMW M2 (which I imagine would be the same as the rest of the 2 series). Mat has also said that of several Mercedes cars and I feel like I always get twisted in my Mercedes.
Bmw have forgot how to make right hand drive manual cars. They can’t even stop the steering gromet used to plug unused steering column hole from letting water in
You want at least the first Hi-fi package for decent stereo. The noise insulation is good in the 3-series, as long as you don't get one with the runflat tyres. Oh and forgot to mention the aircondition blower is a bit loud at middle or higher setting, unlike in the 5-series. If you keep it at auto, put it to second lowest fanspeed, then it's quiet.
This review is SPOT ON! I have this car in the same spec except it’s black in colour and it’s absolutely incredible. Definitely an accurate and fair review of this car. It’s easily the best all rounder and certainly best in class!
Bought my first 3 series a few weeks back and havent looked back since. Once this one has run its course i'll defo be in the market for a newer version.
Got my BMW 330i G20 now for 3 weeks. its absolutely fantastic. The suspension on comfort mode just floats over bumps, but in sporty mode it really feels like an proper M car. although it doesnt have an M engine. And for anyone wondering, yes i've drove an M car on track. Im coming from an BMW 330i (E90 2005) this is my second car, also first one with an automatic and the gearbox just floats thru gears and shifts perfect when you want it to shift. i've got the luxury line version almost full option. Such a pleasure to drive.
@@arnoldkwenda4678 Really the only thing holding the 5 series back is that it's a big car and for practicality smaller is better, but I'd still agree with you.
@@Chabobox1 your right, living in the uk with such an m5 would be a nightmare and having a smaller car such as a 3 series makes it more worth the money
@@Chabobox1 thing is loving with the m5 would be a pain in the UK but living with the 5 series wouldnt be that bad, the touring could be very useful too

Year 0: Best Car in Germany, Switzerland, UK and Australia Year 1: $0 (Repairs) Year 2: $0 (Repairs) Year 3: $0 (Repairs) Etc.. Aka Tesla Model 3 - I’m 2 years into ownership and have yet to spend a dime for repairs.
@@asadbekokhunjanov5255 Is that in the UK? If so my objection to buying one of these will disappear. Waze is such a good system that not being able to run unless you change to an Ios device means I wont buy one of these despite how impressive they seem
Idk how well that “I’m tired” feature would work, but it’s quite clever. Though it might be more useful if it directed you to the nearest coffee shop or just said “WELL PULL THE HELL OVER, THEN.”
@@AlexanderGeorge yeah but in overall German cars are great to drive and you have much fun driving them. But nowadays all new cars aren't very reliable because they have much electronics
8:16 BMW 3 series cars have had this feature forever and its literally one of my favorite thing about these cars. It adds a little bit of side support which is just great!
Hi Mat, you mentioned the USB Type-C in the back, I think you would like to know that there is something called "Power Delivery" it is actually a feature that allowing the charging port to "communicate" with the device you're charging and understand the exact voltage and ampere it requires. Without Power Delivery and USB Type-C (USB-A to USB-C won't work) you won't be able to charge new laptops such as the new Macbooks or any new laptop that comes with USB Type-C port. It is actually means that BMW took the charging capabilities one step further and I admire them for that!! BTW, it also allows for extremely quick charging time of new smartphones and the new Canon Mirorless cameras :)
@@ryadhasanahmed5443 neighbour parks his on the road near my house. Got to see it every day and still can't believe how the traditional carmakers are making such hideous adaptations to legacy designs 🤢🤢🤢
When the plastic water pump and thermostat isn't enough trouble for owners, bmw adds a new surprise mechanic feature which auto opens the grill to spice up the reliability once the warranties ends.
The pedals are a little bit to the right because you are supposed to use one foot for both (the right one) and them being off center to the right makes it easier to do so
Got one last month it’s awesome best car I’ve owned. Brand new 43 grand got it for 26 with 5 thousand miles on the clock. M sport pro pack, comfort pack and x drive. Knocked the dealer down 700 pound over the phone.

So I suppose if it gets stolen u can locate it.
I’ve had an M340i for about 4 months now and I’m still in shock about how much better it is than my F30 335i in every possible way. My only gripe is that my passenger (right, in the US) side door speaker just started rattling like crazy at any volume when the music is even slightly bass-y. I’m hoping I can either find a DIY for it, or have a dealership 😱 find a fix for me.
Great review.. I want one oh so bad BuT waiting to see what the New M3 looks like (always wanted an M3). Keep up the great work, your reviews are stella!
why do people keep on saying the bmw 3 series copied the lexus IS's tail lights, they didn't bmw had those on the 3 series before the IS did. because the current 3 series was made in 2018, the IS came in 2022, so don't say that bmw copied lexus when they clearly didn't.
He complained because *nobody* has C to C cables with their phone charger 🙄 "Future-Proofing" is a bonus, not a hindrance... This is "Present-Faffing" 😜
Most of the carwow community won't like my take.... Here is the US the new G20 M340i is pushing ~$68k - $70k USD with a well optioned model. You can get a G70 3.3T Prestige/Advanced for ~$42k USD... Yes in absolute comparison the M340i is the superior auto; however when you account for the price gap the G70 is head and shoulder's above.
I bought a 2019 330 a month ago. I really like the vehicle but my complaints are, the auto off is WAY to aggressive so I turn i toff when the car goes on. The gesture control is pretty much tech for the sake of tech and a useless way to get it done when there are more efficient ways that work all the time. Swirl your finger to turn up or down the radio... or maybe use the damn buttons on the steering wheel.. or knob by your knee.
