I can't imagine how well this engine must perform! I drove a G31 530d xDrive for two weeks on vacation and it was packed to the roof and still performed so well! It was so quick, we even had a surfdesk on the roof! Still outperformed every 4 cylinder diesel for sure! 5 series is just the best for travelling in comfort and still have the dynamic capabilities to have some fun on country roads. Love it!

For ppl wondering it has 400 horsepower (294 kilowatts) at 4,400 rpm and a massive peak torque of 560 pound-feet (760 Newton-meters) available from 2,000 rpm, the motor is giving the 5 Series some serious capabilities
TheEryk but they dont sound as good as petrol 😕 and run and smell like burning oil.. great fuel efficent but those explosions from a petrol engine and bangs on tunnels and downshifts.. u dont get this on a diesel 😜

It’s not BMW logic it’s fucking commies in EU. They are banning large engines. 50d is killed as well - I am picking up mine 550d G31 tomorrow and it’s one of the last ones - you can’t order it anymore...
The way you keep steering wheel at +200 km/h is crazy not to say stupid. I hope I'm not around you are filming it in the future. Beside this it is a very, very good review.
5 Series Touring is nice but I put the A6 Avant on my buy list in the next 2 years (hopefully sooner), I checked them both in detail, the more spacious cabin of A6 and the more modern interior influenced the decision. But the 5 Series Touring is a great car for sure. Great review of the M550d xDrive, nice color indeed.
AutoTopNL does the 530d sounds as the same in sport mode? Is there also the speaker sound? However, the car in the video is absolutely perfectly specced and runs like a rocket! I love the G31 and the next week I will go to pick up my new 530d xDrive msport G31 meditteranean blue! Can’t wait
Great vid! Shame BMW didn't engineer a Euro 6d compliant version of their M67D44 4.4 V8 diesel as a 50d instead! :( 295 kW / 400 PS and 900 Nm (or more!) with ease.
That's why I love diesel, it's so torquy! Even if it's not so powerful, the force that a good diesel has just from the low rpm is just an amazing sensation. I got a little old engine copared to this one, but im still young and it's actually enough for me. 2.2HDI 170hp, 370n.m at 1500rpm. Not as good as this BMW, but, PSA, and 2008.. 🙄
@@Mr11ESSE111 there is bi turbo engine and two turbos that spin main turbines its not that complicated... 5 series e60 had same system one turbo that spins big turbo here is just double that
Privacy tinted windows are visually bad (from the side car looks like it's welded from two different cars) and bad for cars driving behind you as well (they cannot see well breaking of the car in front of you => slower reactions => more accidents). Personally, I would ban them all across the Europe.

Honestly, I've expected better performance. Looks like indeed 540d is just a liiitle bit less powerful, but for noticeably lower price. I remember how 740d impressed me - video on this channel.
Surprising, just 60nm more torque than the latest MB i6 diesel...and that one isn't even in AMG guise. I appreciate the real exhausts and awesome sound of the BMW though

the audi bitdi is a more reliable lump tho , its much less high strung than this engine . and honestly the V6 sounds better while the I6 idles smoother
A remap takes it to a lovely 500hp, Essential for splatting the dog to the rear hatch and silencing the children. None for sale in uk, even the 540d are quite scarce. settled for the 530d G31
Thats the problem with white leather. I had a beige 330d a few years ago and i was forever cleaning it every month for marks...but its like a black car... they only look good in the showrooms
