►Direct fuel injection has become the standard across any new gasoline engine as it's allowed for increases in fuel efficiency and power production. BMW's N55 engine utilizes that tech, and while it's made the engine a tuner's delight, the injectors can fail and force a replacement. Replacing your BMW's fuel injectors isn't the toughest job in the world, but it will require patience, a few special tools, and a little reprogramming.
Your injectors will make it apparent when they begin to fail. Engine hesitation, bogging, poor performance, and fuel economy can all result from a bad injector. Once you know it needs replacement, you need to figure out which injectors you have. The N55 came with EU5 and EU6 injectors, and they aren't interchangeable.
