POV test drive comparison between the BMW 545e xDrive Sedan, the BMW 530e xDrive Touring and the BMW 520e Sedan. These 3 cars are all BMW 5 Series Plug-in Hybrids and In this video I made a comparison based on a POV walkaround around the 3 cars to see the exterior looks. You can also see a POV drive comparison between the BMW 545e xDrive Sedan Plug-in Hybrid, the BMW 530e xDrive Touring Plug-in Hybrid and the BMW 520e Sedan Plug-in Hybrid to see the differences in: sound, accelerations, hybrid driving, electric driving, city driving and driving on country roads, etc.

POV testrit vergelijking tussen de BMW 545e xDrive Sedan, de BMW 530e xDrive Touring en de BMW 520e Sedan. Deze 3 auto's zijn allemaal BMW 5 Reeks Plug-in Hybrids en in deze video heb ik een vergelijking gemaakt op basis van een POV-rondleiding rond de 3 auto's om het exterieur te zien. Je kunt ook een POV-ritvergelijking zien tussen de BMW 545e xDrive Sedan Plug-in Hybrid, de BMW 530e xDrive Touring Plug-in Hybrid en de BMW 520e Sedan Plug-in Hybrid om de verschillen te zien in: geluid, acceleraties, hybride rijden, elektrisch rijden, rijden in de stad en rijden op landwegen, enz.

Having the same engines and electric motor, I would be curious to know if there is any actual distinction between the 520e and 530e and if it is possible to remediate using chiptuning.

Leuke vergelijkingsvideo! Ikzelf rijd sinds maart `21 met de 545e Xdrive. Vooraf ook testgereden met de 2.0L variant, maar dit vond ik persoonlijk onvoldoende en veel 'fake' uitlaatgeluid. Het enige nadeel dat ik tot nu toe ondervind en wat ik vooraf al wist is de beperkte kofferruimte. => Als ze de 545e nu eens in touring zouden maken was mijn keuze destijds veel gemakkelijker geweest! Blijft een topwagen!

@@jamesfiler689 Did you order with M-sport brakes or Harman Kardon? I ordered mine in Bernina with lots of options such as leather dacota, sunroof etc. in the beginning of October and I was told by the dealer if I choose with M-sport brakes and/or Harman Kardon it would be delivered sometime summer 2022, but if I ordered without, they could deliver it till february/march. I decided to go without those options and after 2 weeks I got a call from the dealer that they planned production in 2-3 weeks and we could schedule delivery from december 20th to january 5th as i pleased. :-)

@@rasmusjenner no, I didn’t go for either of those - I went for the M Sport Pro pack, tech pack, light pack and comfort pack. They told me the charging tray and foot operated boot lid may be deleted because of the chip shortage, which seems pathetic for a car at this price point. I ordered three weeks ago and haven’t heard anything apart from the initial end of March/beginning of April delivery.

Ordered my 545e M sport back in March and should get in next 3 weeks. No charging tray or foot-opening of trunk and was told no Harmon Kardon so I changed it to Bowers and Wilkins which apparently not affected by semiconductor delays

545e of course :) Is there alot difference in fuel consumption (empty batteries or highway) between the 545e or 530e?

Yes. The 545e is a 6 cylinder engine and the 530e is a 4 cylinder engine. Consumption is higher on the 545e when using only petrol engine. Difference is about 1 liter per 100km

Yeas but as far as I know you can't get the 545e as a touring. Or at least I couldn't find any used ones.

I wish they did not reduce the fuel tank to 47 litres on these :( Think I will look for a diesel hybrid as they still have 66 litres. Have you driven one? be curious what you thought of it.

Hey Johan, greetings from Italy! Great video, I have a quick question regarding convenience in charging the battery using the engine. Given the cost of today's public charging columns, and the fact that it takes more than 3 hours to fully charge the battery, am I right in assuming that it is more convenient both in terms of money and time to use the petrol engine as a generator, rather than using the public columns to recharge the batteries? I saw a consumption difference of less than 2l x 100km between normal driving and "generative" driving. Grazie! Giacomo

In my testing, on highway driving, just purely on ice, i can average about 6 liters per 100 km. With battery control mode (using engine as generator), it goes to about 11-12 liter. You need about 70-80 km to fully recharge on highway 100 km/h. Bringing it at a cost of around 4.8 liters for a full recharge. Average gas price where I am from is about 1.75 euro per liter, brining it to about 8,40 euro for a full recharge. Where I am from, we pay around 0,35 euro per kWh when charging in public, battery size is around 11 kwh. Costing around 3,85 euro for a full recharge via electricity. Depending on your own rates in your country, charging via public charger is still cheaper, but charging via the engine is way faster…. It takes roughly 3 hours to charge via public charger and about 40-45 minutes with the engine at 100 km/h. In my opinion, if you do a lot of traveling on highway from city to city, combined with city driving, its much more practical to go fully electric in the city and as soon as you are on the highway just charge via the engine. When you arrive at the other city, switch back to fully electric again. Also dont forget, once the battery is charged up to the limit you have set in the settings, the car will lower its consumption again to the normal consumption with the engine

@@bighit20100 I'm waiting for the LCI model that should be delivered in a few days. I've been told that with the restyling model, it will no longer be possible to use the engine as a generator. Such a shame
