the best high speed video on the net. no music.just fast driving nice road and only one car on the road , whose driver must have shat himself when you went past.
You get used to it when you drive in Germany for some time. I do my economical 130 km/h and the cars are passing at twice my speed on regular. Best thing about the Autobahn it’s that it’s free.
Not a problem, they use their mirrors and have good lane discipline, not like U.K., well developed reliable cars tested to the limits on the Autobahns, you don’t have to drive them flat out if you don’t want to.
Exactly what the 850 was made for - Not blistering acceleration or crazy high BHP ... it was designed to destroy motorways at high speed flawlessly and effortlessly. As seen clearly in this example - shes happy all day long at 180MPH.
In fact ... the 6th gear IS for economy! Also in this BMW. But it also is the highest gear with the highest possible ratio ... so for absolutly top speed you choose the highest gear if the engine is powerful enough! Switching to 6th gear at 155 mph isnt economic driving though ...
Hasso Sigbjoernson who cares. This car hails from an era where that wasn’t relevant (nice V12 on the 850 SCI) It’s nice to relive that age, when EPA wasn’t putting their nose where it didn’t belong.
@@shtupidmate all those german v12s (bmw and merc) were tuned for smoothness and torque but they can get to 100 hp/liter, look at the mclaren f1 or pagani zonda
If grandpa had $200k to buy a top of the range tourer. Which was called M8 by lot's of people. An almost M car. Hardly grandpa material. That's like my grandpa rolling in a Porsche Panamera S. These were $110k back in the mid 90s. So about $200k today sounds right.
I've tried that irl fr, I was finding the top speed of my fiat punto 1.2 sporting in the low 170'ish km/h when i finally got to a more populated section of the highway and found myself consistently overtaken by bmw's and mercedes doing almost twice that speed. It blew my mind lol.
@@Slash27015 Still doing this regularly in Germany, I own a 3.0L BMW 528i from 2010 with 260hp (yes, i gained 2hp with a custom exhaust). Here in the Netherlands the max allowed speed during daytime is 100kmh. But in Germany it is unlimited. Since I only live 15mins from Germany, whenever I feel the need for speed, I drive there and just push it up to about 255kmh GPS speed. Sometimes I see other Dutch people with small 1.2 or 1.4L engines testing their top speed at like 170kmh. Sometimes I even deliberately slow down to drive past them at about the same speed. Knowing that they are on their max, I then suddenly slam the pedal when I am next to them and just dissappear on the horizon. Also I remember one time with my previous car, a 2003 2.3L Golf V5 with 170hp, that there was a Dutch guy driving in germany about 210kmh with a brand new Volvo V40 T3 (top speed). My Golf was able to do 225kmh so you could just imagine the feeling of being able to pass a brand new Volvo V40 T3 with a 15 year old Golf. Also know that both the V5 and the inline 6 have custom exhausts, so next to them being relatively fast, they make an extremely beautifull and loud sound. Making the experience like twice as good.
I feel so anxious when i watch somebody doing that, but also feel so confident when I'm doing such risky stuff myself - deceptive feeling actually i must say
Absolutley true. A german car on his german natural environment. As a german i can say that this driving isnt abnormal. I drive like this too if i am alone on the Autobahn. Maybe disturbing for foreigners.
elk0ss Not for me! haha Every time when i visit Germany(and that is often) and i see a Benz or BMW flyby with 250+ kmph it always put a smile on my face
+BadenCityFire In Germany the old school mentality is that a real man would never buy a car with anything other than a manual gearbox. The McLaren F1 also has a manual gearbox by the way.
1. Enable console in the settings 2. "Set time -sunday -6" -> Enter First parameter is day of the week or date in DD.MM.YYYY and second one is time in 24h format, have fun
One day when I was a young man, I had to get from Detmold to Gelsenkirchen to sign a contract with a new orchestra. My teacher said, "no problem". We jumped in his big Audi, circa 1979, and headed out. Within minutes we were going 200 kph and soon we were doing over 220 kph. The car had huge tires and it gripped the road like a cat. I had to assume that my teacher had maintained the tires and engine carefully. Of course, as a German, he was meticulous about that sort of thing. It seemed like the Gelsenkirchen exit appeared in front of us in no time.
Fun story: We had a company car (E60 525d touring) with CC. You could only set the CC to a top speed of 200, except when you already drove faster - then you would just engage it at 230-250 as well :-) (though you couldn't accelerate via CC)
oh man... That's really insane! You drive 290+km\h for more then 2minutes...Damn 120seconds.. You got balls of steel, no kidding. Respect for you and your BMW, both deserve it like damn hell. Regards from Poland.
Fun fact: *This guy time traveled to 2020 to where the lockdown is so that he can reach 300KMH(oof i wasn't reading what I'm typing) in an empty Autobahn.*
@@kevinsomosot9976 Don't worry, no big deal. 300kph is VERY fast. I never dared passing 230kph, already 210kph feels like a bit too much for my brains.
Sicklehead88 But still, I guess in most traffic situations you cant drive that fast. I mean, even here, the Driver had to drive in the middle of both roads.
LasKekse it is true that in most situations you can't drive that fast, but he didn't really have to drive in the middle of both roads. don't know why he did that. i went 280 once on an autobahn with more curves and i also didn't have to occupy 2 lanes at once.
Bill Wood i don't really know what that has to do with my comment, but of course failures can occur, but are very very rare. every car has to be checked every 2 years, people check their tire pressure regularly and there are laws for minimum tyre profile, etc.
which technically isnt as safe as staying in a lane, since the lanes have some kind of "rails" that keep you in track, while when driving in the middle of the road you dont have this luxury and are happen to hit "not shaped" parts of the tarmac.
Sometimes I do it the same way when I go over 250 km/h without traffic because then on a 2 lane Autobahn you have more space to react if there is something unexpected on the road. Btw the rails are the unsafest way to drive the Autobahn I think, except you are in a truck. The wide tires of a sports car in a "rail" will shake your whole chassi around and when it's wet you have a much higher risk of aquaplaning.
@@Pintkonan those are not rails, when road is made, it's even, when it's not repaired every 10-15 years or so, depending on quality of it, such "rails" may appear. That's just normal wear.

Amar Jašić He's consuming more than 24L/100km because I have an Opel zafira opc and when I accelerate like the guy in the video my car consumes 40L/100km (it's only a 2.0T 240cv)
@@MultiBossino You are talking about the instant consumption not the average. The consumption of a car is calculated from the average consumption. My question to you is what is the consumption when you go steady at 200 km/h ? It's not 40 isn't it ?
Scott Rikkard Yes the 8-series is a big and a heavy car, so ofcourse the aerodynamics are worse than a 3-series. But still for a 1800kg weighing GT the aerodynamics are very good. Something that American cars can learn about that.
GanG914 Yes i was wrong, i didn't know that the 8-series had a drag coefficient of 0.28. I thought that a 3-series is more aerodynamic. But no it isn't, still a good job from BMW to make the 8-series the most aerodynamic car in the world.
After about 2 minutes of full throttled they start humming like a dream 🏁🏁 And calm even when correcting that standard suspension wobble at 170 + HATs OFF TO YOU MY GOOD SIR 🎩🎩🎩😂
Wirklich gut gefahren.
From the driver: In order to reach the speed shown in the clip a downhill streath is necessary. Because the CSi engine's power peak is at 5300 rpm (260kph/160mph) and engine power drops after that, it is impossible to go beyond 290kph / 180mph on a level surface, as can be seen in the video. The speed of 303kph / 188mph equals 84m/sec or 92yards/sec, that's Mach 0.25 - one quarter the speed of sound. At that speed 5.05 kilometers (3.14 miles) are covered per minute. The stopping distance would be about 350m / 380 yards and means that after over 310 meters / 340 yards of emergency braking the car still has a velocity of over 100 kph / 62 mph. Those speeds should therefore only be driven on really empty stretches of Autobahn. The instataneous fuel consumption at that speed is 41 l/100km, that's 6.9 mpg (UK) or 5.7 mpg (US). 41 l/100km @ 300 kph = 2.07 l/min = 29 sec/l 41 l/100km @ 300 kph = 6.9 mpg (UK) = 0.46 gal/min = 131 sec/gal 41 l/100km @ 300 kph = 5.7 mpg (US) = 0.55 gal/min = 110 sec/gal
this is pretty much my dream car, and I have to say that this level of speed for this length of time probably feels so. fucking. good. oh my god it has me gripping my seat and im not even moving
The heavy weight of a car doesn't affect its top speed; it only affects its acceleration. The maximum speed gets affected by aerodynamic, and the aerodynamic of a 850 is very good. A Ferrari Testarossa's top speed is 298 km/h with 390 PS. The 850 CSi shows 380 PS and runs round about 299 to 302 km/h.
SRAMEK well their new (since the E90) 6 in lines are garbage too, im not talking about performance but maintance costs. 335i has plastic hoses everywere and not even an oil dipstick...
@@kayaritvards9200 You guys seem to think that going 300kph is that big of a deal.. Almost any car can go to 220-250kph and it's not that far till 300 from that..

And my legs started to trebling......let alone this guy going 186,,,,he got balls...the car doesn’t shoot off fast at all however in the long haul for 5- miles and longer it will wheel other cars down!!
