@@adambarrett5696 It's looks are the catcher, similarly to the countach both have looks and speed in common. The issue is sadly both lack handling, the turbo lag on the F40 is horrendous, it still has the same weight distribution issues (60/40, not 50/50 like claimed) as the 512TR and testerossa, and was of similar weight to the countach. None the less both cars are still masterpieces even for todays standards and timeless classics.
@@TheGooberOfGoobs The F40 and the Countach have only one thing in common - they were both poster supercars of the 80s, however in terms of performance and driveability they are not even close. The Countach weighed realistically 200kg more in the "full grown" version and was built more for looks and sound rather than handling. The turbo lag on the F40 is really a non issue - when you push it it's easy to keep the turbo spinning, the only place where you will notice it is driving in the city, but who needs the full power of the F40 in the CITY??? I would call it a safety feature more than anything :)
This is the Toru Kirikae himself. The legendary Ferrari specialist in Japan. Also, well know as the CEO of Racing Service Dino. How he achieved the speed with only 17inch P Zero that time... What a guts. Respect!
This is the one and only high speed car ypotube footage - on the highway to this day! Because, there are very few such cars - and they are cost too much! (F40 costs 1.3-2 million now)
This is one of the first F40's to arrive in japan in 1987, The driver Toru Kirikae was angry at people saying the f40 is slow so he did a private video to prove them wrong. The video got out and police gave him a ¥200,000 ($1,800) fine.
Aprés il faut se remettre dans le contexte, il y avait le mid-night club qui était encore là. C'est peut être pour ça que les gens disait que la F40 était lente quand à coté une 280ZX "devil Z" frôlait déja à ce moment là les 350
Considering he did this as safely as he could, the speeding fee was a bit much. But how much was the car itself? Maybe it was fair in the end after that consideration.
@@X1erra Sorry, but going 320 km/h on the official road is everything, but not safe at all. I know people think these cars run perfect at high speed, yes, but this is not the point. Imagine only a little thing like a piece of metal, or a stone, lying on the road, or a little whole in the surface and hitting the tire. What do you think will happen at 320 km/h? Not much will be left of the Ferrari and of other cars nearby. There is a reason, why they have built racing circuits for going that fast.
@@sircharles7323greets from germany - and our Autobahn. You'd be surprised, how many people here reach that speed every day on these public roads...while no one of them is able to generate that speed on our Nürburgring-Nordschleife. 🤷♂️
1:23 the next 5 cars he passes are all the same!!! Is this a video game? Lol.....thats creepy. Looks like a test drive game with that generic same exact car in the traffic and the blur effect of the camera.
This is real, not fake and is very easy understand it, by the continuos accelerations, deceleretations, breaks and bumping of the road. Anyway, fantasy a part, the F40 would reach the 330 km/h real. What car... a masterpiece of extreme semplicity as the true race cars, with the best of the best hyde. This car after 28 years is stell one of the fast on circuits. The LM version is leterally umbilivable.... Italian style!.
This is art...Ferrari f40 ,best and most iconic sports car ever made...It was built in 1987,and still it goes easily 320 kmh..Damn, I wish I can have it one day...
To me its crazy that every driver that was in the fast lane got out of the way for the f40, this does not happen in chicago because theres always one asshole thats either too stupid or has too big of an ego to move out of the way.
You should try California, I watch it everyday, they enter Freeway and flash flash they go 3 lanes over and cruise a 60. A bird brain the mentality of US drivers. Fast traffic keep right it works. I cruised in a Fiat at 180 for hours without having to jump lanes in Italia.... yes well pasta makes us think.
Ferrari F40 was, is and will always be the greatest, highest pinnacle of human achievements, at least in terms of engineering. G.O.A.T car made by the G.O.A.T manufacturer. What an accomplishment!
I might be mistaken, but I think the driver sold and distributed this footage on VHS (before the internet existed) and cops managed to track him down and he ended up spending time in prison.
Ooh, a rare RU-vid recommendation... Nice! Raw power, manual box and no e-assist whatsoever. The guy is legend, whoever he is. I can only do this in GT Sport lol.
This car seems to have been running at 309 km / h (maximum speed). (Analysis by the National Research Institute of Police Science of Japan) This video was taken on the Joban expressway in Japan. The location will be near the Chiyoda Ishioka interchange.
Nope. The cheapest modern Ferrari easily beats this both on a racetrack and straight ahead. Hate to inform you of this but there has been some serious progress the last 30 years. Some understand that. Idiots don't. For them time always stands still.
Dropthewop Eleventimeseight This thing was purposely build for the track with State Of The Art Aerodynamics, while not actually offering any real 'luxuries'. The inside is all stripped. The F40 is basically the FXXK of the 80's. You can't just be that ignorant and say that the cheapest modern "Ferrari" could beat this around a track. What about the F40 Competizione? That thing was an even more beefed up version of the already formiddable track monster, the F40. The F40 or the Competizione would maul almost any cheap/expensive modern "Ferrari". Yes, i am quite pissed because of your ignorance, and i'm pretty sure many others would be so too. That is very disrespectful. The reason people are in the past, is because the past actually offered real driving, no electronical buttons slammed everywhere, and a stickshift. I don't have to explain what todays cars are about. It's all self explanatory. This comes from an 15 year old, i wish i were born at such a timeless period.
fool. u didn't fuckin understand him dumbass. He meant that this car is way cooler than many supercars nowadays + it has also much more style to just cruise around just an amazing car.
In a time where cars were basically boxes on wheels witnessing a low, wide, red car that was designed for the race track going at 250km/h on the highway really was something to remember. Thats why older icons will always have something special over newer supercars. And in this case its an F40 wich makes everything even better!
Just looking at how vastly different this ferrari looks compared to all the other cars on the road makes it seem surreal to see one on the road. These days with every car pretty much following the same blueprint it makes supercars highly under appreciated.
people are actually moving over like they should, unlike where i'm from canada they hug left lane like its their mother "nobody should be driving faster than i am"
so many cars around, surface not perfect... no electronic systems....completely irresponsible... large % of produced F40 doesn't exist anymore , guess why...
I love this dude.... He cares about other people and their safety.... Take notes BMW driver! This is how you drive, care for other people, and don't drive recklessly
ex59neo53 No, the maximum of the F40 AMERICAN VERSION, is in the house of 324km / h to 330km / h, the EUROPEAN VERSION is of more than 360km / h stock, without any modification
ex59neo53 The F40 has more or less 200hps more and more or less 100kg less in the European version, the official data are from the American version, but ask any one who understands or to an owner of the European version F40 he will confirm, all Cars made in European version are stronger and lighter, because of US regulations, as in Japan for example, and in the case of the F40, the Jaguar XJ220 for example the differences are gigantic, cars made nowadays have less Differences, but still exist.
It anyone disliking the vid, you should know this is the first time anyone did this on video. Every man and his dog does it now but this was 1997 or something
Is not a fully fake. If your watch the steering tillthe middle front , near the speed, the true image rest perfectly stand, the steering and a part of the dashboard have some movments.
This should be done on closed circuits. No matter how much you love cars, this isn't the spirit. This guy could have killed himself, or worse, kill someone who didn't deserve it (a father, a mother, a child or even a whole family)
TheCassla something being legal dosen't make it a responsible thing to do. I enjoyed this video, and have been guilty of some over enthusiastic driving in my time. But it is dangerous and IMO it is not right to put people in danger without their consent (No matter how much fun it might be doing so)
I dont think theres any better way to die when you look at the alternatives, death bed smelling like piss, or an f40 going at 190mph, The only thing i wouldnt be doing is speeding by other cars, an 18 wheeler, maybe, they wont even feel you hit em.
