Got a chance to finally try out BMW wacky and weird electric scooter the CE 04. Only had it for about 30 minutes but it was an amazing experience to ride such a cutting edge and yet so polished and finished scooter.

This is maybe the best stuff that BMW has released in years.. 😎

I bought a CE04 the day I first saw it in a promo video. It is wonderful. What more would you want it to look like? Do you miss a big “manly” exhaust? Perhaps you want a raised passenger seat? What would your ideal electric maxi scooter look like?
@RideWithAlex
@RideWithAlex Год назад
It's just the design. It looks very different with that extra long wheel base. But like I said, the design is intentional. What I happy to see is the tech and the drive train that's very well put together and very polished as a finish product. In the future I'm hoping to see a lot of interesting and well made electric bikes/scooters from BMW because this shows they know how to make a good one.

As I've said you are doing a great job on reviewing scooters! Who would have thought the last bit about slowly coasting in a close space surrounded by people and cars and shopping trolleys where balance and maneuverability and close call braking are priceless...only passionates!

For something you ride de in the city power is nice but maneuverability and brakes i think are of the highest importance. It still has to do it's job of urban mobility to get from A that B quickly, easily and safely. I learned this because i ride every single day.

CO2 emission from vehicle production is higher for EV mainly due to the battery. Lots of evidence that this is paid off after about 1 year/15000 miles driven so as long the EV lifespan is more than this, they are better for CO2.

Too bad BMW doesn’t reproduce the C1 scooter, I would love to have one. This scooter seems interesting. I’ll definitely look up the info on it. I wonder if there’s going to be a decent windscreen for it. It’s odd looking……I like it.✌️
@RideWithAlex
@RideWithAlex Год назад
I have ridden one, it's nice as an idea but it's extremely top heavy and at low speeds fight it constantly to keep it upright. It's was a very cumbersome thing to ride at slow speeds, no chance filtering traffic with that thing. The C1 was a good idea on paper but in practice..... not so much

I test rode the scoot and had one delivered recently - just amazing on dual carriageways and around town,. Connectivity is fantastic and totally intuitive. Range is not an an issue for me - I have no intention of "touring" on it (that's what my 1000cc is for!) Got mine from a Dealer, "used" with very low mileage - fully spec'd - dynamic & comfort packs, fast charger, extended service pack etc. for just shy of £3k less than the fully spec'd price (some luck & good timing on my part). Expecting it to cost me less than £5 per month to charge based on my work commute. Note it is all electric so 100% tax deductible through a company (UK). Did I mention it is highly maneuverable and just insane when pulling away from lights....

I suspect this thing has a limiter or something. 40hp 62nm, should go faster than 120kmh. also because the acceleration is so fast and then tapers off makes me think that it has a limiter.

@puffybodie5282
@puffybodie5282 Год назад
Of course it must have limiter, because range 130km is according to WTMC norm, so basically at 60km/h. If you go 100 or more you drop to half or less of that range ;-) That's why RU-vid is full of Tesla videos and other electric garbage to do accelerations, but when you meet them in real life on highway they go like 100km/h to be able to get anywhere without need for constant refuel 😀 Because they are not capable to travel over 90km/h reliably without constant refuelling and destroying its battery

@@RideWithAlex that is the very things that I'm saying Alex. however, another of your stated that Price isn't the point of this bike. At this juncture, they're introducing a prototype, so yes, at this point in time the phrase may not be the point, but considering the fact that there are other eelctric scooters out there that can fit a persons needs at a much lower price point. It makes the $13,000 suggested retail price the very issue that could make or break it, i.e Daytona evball or Daytona F8 or F5. I remember when the Daytona evball First came out at a price point of nearly €4900 with two batteries it wasn't really selling that well. I spoke to my local Sim in Daytona dealer and they actually told me that they didn't think it woulld sell well. Here in Chios, Greece I see a lot of electric scooters. I only see one Daytona F5 and one Daytona ev ball. I spoke to a relative in Athens who says that he's been hard-pressed to see the F5 and ev ball in his travels. With 120 km autonomy that each of the two has with two batteries makes them hard to approach by people who may live over 20 kms out of the city or by ppl like me whp travel 300 kms a month.

@@alexandrosmp1 the thing is this scooter is above something likenthe F5. I would compare the it with the TL508 or a T-max. It has the power and feels like a premium scooter. It feels like such a well polished product.

I personally would not pay 13k for it even with a capability of 42hp and a range of 90km. Thats just me. Its a very good machine but its price makes it unwelcoming. If it was 7k with 150 range I would think about buying it.
@lotusds

I guess it's not about price, here. It's about performance in town. Also you can buy a second battery if you really need to ride it more than 90 km in a single day.
@alexandrosmp1
@alexandrosmp1 Год назад
@@lotusdsPoint well taken and I am sure it will meet the needs of a lot of people. I do maintain however about the price. I understand the theme of the video is to introduce this new type of two wheeled vehicle, but when the product reaches the consumer it will be an issue. But to be fair i would have to compare it along other similar electric scooters to determine comparability and value for euro (dollar). I am not excluding it as a candidate as I have thought about an electric scooter or motorcycle, but the fact remains that my SPECIFIC NEEDS, would not be met. My needs are to have a two wheel vehicle that I can take on a long distance trip, ie over 200 mi... Now you might say this vehicle is not intended for that-OK fair enough
@puffybodie5282
@puffybodie5282 Год назад
It's useless and will be for a long time unless some magic happen with battery technology. Range (at 60km/h only as it is according to WTMC) is 130km, but PCX for 1/4 of price can go about 3 times more. Then you refill in like 5 - 10 minutes. This there are not much places to refill so you are not free in movement (one of the best benefits of motorcycle/scooter) and it takes about 65 minutes with quickcharge which of course very quickly destroy your battery and its capacity/range. Even with smallest motorcycles/scooters I do daily trips over 300km which would mean about 5 refuel stops with this electric machine (remember, 130km range is basically in city avoiding even those roundabout roads inside which are having limit 80km/h). That's 325 minutes wasted by refueling so nearly 5 hours => so it's not practical at all and never will be with current technology. There are only 2 pros: 1) It's quiet which is fine often 2) Yes, it's fun for such short fun ride But it's future of mobility, however not in a way how we drivers look at it, but how companies and governments look at it. That it will be available only for the most rich whoch can afford those expensive machines and their refuelling (gues what will happen with electricty prices if everyone will want to have one as is now case with gas cars/motorcycles/scooters). So less traffic on the road so that rich can enjoy ride without meeting pesants on the way 🙂
