How to make and edit routes on the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Navigator. And how its synced too the cloud so you also may edit them on your ConnectedRide App on your smartphone.
Note: The video only shows my experience with the product the date the video was posted.

Sven thank you for taking the time to share, really appreciated. I have found this Navigator a huge improvement on the Nav 6 so my experience is positive. I have imported some GPX files for some rides in the summer which include Road and off road sections on some dirt tracks. Will this Navigator when we get to Spain try to recalculate the route as it does not recognise the off road sections and try to find an alternative route via roads rather than the dirt track? Thank you 🙏

Yes that is the case when I tested it. I am not aware about any software updates except the one released after the initial release. The GPS will try to make routes out of tracks. ie finding a routable way.

Good description. If you click on the keyboard icon on the search page in the Navigator you will have a complete keyboard instead of half a keyboard. When you are riding a route are you getting spoken directions through your comms?

Yes I did switch to the full keyboard :-) Yes Im getting spoken commands !

Hi, thx for the video! Two questions. Is it possible to add a waypoint directly from a map? Is it possible to add "route shaping point" so it won't be present as your destination during the ride. thx

Yes you may click on the map and save the place as a favorite. When on a route or editing the route you may add that favourite and the route is recalculated accordingly. You cannot use routes with route shaping point yet. That's the message the units gives if you try to import routes with shaping points.

There are no warnings of fixed traffic control points as far as I have seen yet. You can favorite Recent destinations and POIs.

hi I bought it and I found a problem ... you have always to swhich it off if you do not use the bike for a couple of days otherwise he remain in stand by position and the inside battery after 2 days is gone. to switch it you have to take out from the support and it is not so good for me.

yes I have experienced same, when ignition is off it counts down for shutoff but it seems like it starts again in stby. Have to remove from cradle and hold in the button on unit until you may choose shutdown. Something goes wrong and bmw has to iron it out.

Can you add random waypoints such us road spots selected directly from the map? Or everything has to be a POI / Favourite...?

Sven, do you have some experience creating routes on a pc and transfer it on the Navigator?

Hi yes. I have tried to make routes in tourstart.org and then export. Tourstart have the option to select "export to ConnectedRide" and when doing that it works great. I save the file (which actually has a .gpx filename) to my storage cloud from the pc and then open it on my phone and select share and pick the Connected Ride App. It's then synced to the Navigator. It works great. But I have tried to do the same but export it to a GPX-file instead of a "ConnectedRide" file.... it does not work...

So there is no option to import a route/track in the (most common) gpx format?

No. You will get the message that tracks are not supported. Which is very peculiar as a navigation system. It is only built for bmw standard and for nothing else. I keep my Navigator 6 instead.

I am unclear does this unit require a live phone connection 100% of the time - then it’s using phone battery and data ?

No it dont need if you from the unit download the maps you want to use in advance, when connected to wifi

This device is an absolute abomination. Buggy as hell, does not support regular gpx files and audiostreaming is mono. Don't by it!

This item is pure junk. It's the worst $900 I've ever spent on my R1250GSA! Save your money and get a Garmin XT2. Even with having to purchase an adopter for your cradle, you'll save hundreds of dollars and not have to beta test this crap. Screw the wonder wheel.
