I overhauled the entire suspension on my E36. Nightmare of a job, massive, loved it, hated it, shed tears and blood on multiple occassions, car feels wonderful for it.

I’m almost done doing the whole rear end suspension on my E36, refreshed all the bushings and ball joints, used e46 330 trailing arms so I can go with the e36 M3 axles and diff. Your videos taught me a lot about how to replace all these damn bushings. A shop press is one of the best investments I’ve ever made. Sometimes you have to improvise and thank you for sharing all your knowledge, much appreciated!

I like to use threaded rod to pull in/out the bush. Good source for strong threaded rod is from a scissor jack most cars use. Threaded rod from scissor jack is designed for heavy load and comes with thrust bearing as well.

ahah nice idea, definitely using this, all the threaded rod i can find round me is mild steel and crap and i wasnt even considering it but this should work

I made special adapter for replacing this bushing. It can remove and install bushing without damage. It's made of Delrin .

i find putting some wd40 or silicon grease or something makes them go in much easier , they press fit so push 99% of lube out and dont slip

You could take the shell from the old bushing to use as a press for the new one, no? Or is it too much of a PITA to pull apart to do that?

Good question, because it's a spherical bearing, it's not easy to separate... I tried, with a large hammer but wasnt successful 😁

Hi Pamo your videos at amazing so informative! I’m looking for some advice I have an e36 Evo some numpty at some point in time has jacked it up on the sills not the jacking points hence the underside looks like a banana. Any ideas on how to repair I believe the sills are box section? Regards Neil

The only way is to cut it open, inspect it and decide how far you need to go. Not a nice situation.

Curious, you said the rear alignment would go out, what all exactly IS adjustable on a bone stock E36..? Can you even adjust anything..?

Jesus that ending though at like 15 minutes, but that's a natural E36 owners reaction to any E36 work honestly.

You can adjust the main arm a bit where it bolts to the body. That's about it

You can adjust toe with the trailing arms mounts (the 3 bolts, the bracket will slide a bit) and you can set camber on the lower control arm outer bolts as they are those eccentric washer bolts. That’s about it.
