that's your drive gone mate that's the chips over heated drive needs full repair

@@BMWDoctor Checked and zero water. Iam from Czech so i have DME on this side. On Master cylinder side there are no gromets only one with tubes. But on the DME side i dont know how to get to them, dont want to take it out :D Anyway great tip, i will be working on my engine soon so might as well take closer look at it. #M54B22

Yes do that as water does get in there and destroy the modules in the uk the driver side is brake servo passenger side is dme box

@@BMWDoctorThink four legs instead of four wheels. For Medieval swordsmen on horseback, it made sense to keep to the left to have their right arms closer to their opponents. (Presumably the 10 to 15 percent of left-handed knights just had to make it work.) Mounting and dismounting was also easier from the left side of the horse, and safer done by the side of the road than in the center. The left handers use the RIGHT side of there brain. I am left handed . Your a good fella LOL LOL

if its 2009 do not worry you will not get water in the boot only pre lci suffered this problem

@@BMWDoctor hi I removed the circular gromet. Once removing that, where does that drain to, I.e. on to anything else it could damage. There was another drainage type of gromet, I left that in there. On the plus side there wasn't any water in mine since I cleaned it out a few years ago. Also do you put that gromet in or leave it out?

It’s the chips inside mate what happens is the fan stops working and it overheats the chips and they become de soldered causing the idrive to not boot properly common problem mate

It need rebuilding if it’s still black it also can mean you idrive itself is gone or if you have MPM that’s completely shot but it could also be a fuse it can be many many things on these cars

Needs fixing idrive is knackered you have car under 2006 this is normal for this to happen that’s why never buy e60 under 2006

I did mine 4 yrs ago on my b7 audi a4 ...i need a proper software and cable for my e91...i bought 2 of them from eBay but I can't seems to get the cable connected to my laptop and am using window 7

Under the pollen filter water gets in that’s why you need to mention because that causes idrive no working

@@BMWDoctor ah I see, thanks , I've just got a 1 series 55reg and the idrive is down no power to nav screen but power to the DVD and CD, I got it form a car dealer and they said it just needs a reboot lol but I have noticed the module/amp thing that's meant to be behind the rear seats on boot floor is not even there

Mate you may not have it that’s why mate so be careful you’re is 55 REG they switched out between that time to KGM line and done away with the problematic MPM so it’s not it’s missing your car probably don’t have it Also idrive is a common common failure and will need to be rebuilt I used to do it but I stopped as it’s to much headache to do and most people have stopped doing it as it’s not worth the money for it it takes many many hours to rebuild the board after it overheats mate Your best bit is trying to find someone WHO DOES still repair them

@@BMWDoctor Okay thanks a lot for the info I will have a search around for someone local, if a part of the system has failed can used parts be used or would things need coding ect, I took a gamble on the car starting to think I shouldn't have now people have said about the android route but it's still kinda pricey, thanks again

George Toby mate that’s the joys of owning a bmw there expensive when you don’t do it yourself be prepared mate ALOT more to come this is why man I feel it for people who don’t have the knowledge of these cars everyone thinks there reliable the only people that say there ultra reliable is people like me and others who I look after there’s for for free Anyone who don’t know anyone or don’t know what there doing this car is about to come your worst nightmare !!!! For me there ultra reliable half these problems people come to me with in like man this is easy fix man I can’t believe you can’t fix this it’s like night and day for me This is the problem you get my lot going around driving them like there reliable then everyone else here’s that but they don’t have me who’s doing it for them and getting them parts half price And then fixing there modules when they go down
