Love the enthusiasm but you got quite a bit wrong. Rod bearings don't go at a fixed interval, it's down to use, if each startup can't be accounted for, the rod bearings should be done. There's a lot to do while you're in there: The tensioner and chain were updated for the vanos pump Oil squirters are updated It's good try to get an LCI sump that has the two drain plugs, there's about 2.5l of oil that's never changed with an oil change Injectors and lift pump should be changed All the high pressure lines should be changed, especially the steering lines next to the headers The vanos accumulator pipe should be changed.
Thanks BMW brother.. we to own an older 2010 328i E92 M-Sport stright 6 naturally aspirated engine. Those cars are really reliable with the proper maintenance. They are very well made cars that do get the mileage you speak of, the honest truth that keeps us coming back for more. And yes BMW with the nessasay care BMW is the ultimate driving machine..! Checking out your channel. Good to see the honest words about the BMWs ownership..!
Almost at 250k miles on mine just past 400k km. Love this thing and my m6 is almost at 200k miles and that thing sees mainly track use and drives to and from the track and gets ragged on the engine is dumb solid and the smg really comes alive and to its own on the track
I actually like the pre lci more just my opinion I like the bangle butt and sick video bro a no bs take about ownership. Keeping it real and not fear mongering about the smg or rod bearings
You should reset the gearbox adaption and relearn the clutch slip point of your m5, it will fix your jerky start problem You need someone whos experienced to do it with inpa/ista
Good review, i have a 2006 M6, have only done about 6000 miles in 2.5 years ,just over 50k miles on it, and i have had no major problems with it so far
The controversy concerning the body lines, the rounded edges, the way the headlights and taillights were designed all while winning engineering awards is what made made me want an E60. I got a 2010 535i xdrive e60 in 2014. Still have it. 🎉
DUDE!! Speaking of petrol cars being phased out, BMW is coming out with a Hybrid BMW 2025 5 series has the 4.4L engine from the X5 SUV. It's a must see!
Planning on going all in during the month of March/April 2024 to get my hands on one. 65,000km and a selling price of $26,500. I hope it treats me well when I get my hands on it. I hope I can have it for as many kilometers as you have. I have been wanting this for a long time. Hopefully I can come back here and let you know when I do buy it.
no, sorry... i will not get over the newer BMWs, or lets say, the grille with a car behind it... We should conserve our e60es and make sure that we don't have to suffer BMWs new designs.
I still love my Pre-LCI M5 and I'm keeping it. I did upgrade to some later model bits in my S85 during maintenance works though, like revised oil squirters, timing chain runners, cam sprockets... etc
You could retrofit the cic keeping it oem but all the newer functionality and adding the combo and the updated graphics makes the car so much newer feeling without it looking at all like a retrofit
I remember watching this car in top gear when Jeremy clarkson was reviewing it and once you push m button and that thing will top speed at 204 miles per hour with limiter removal and v10 on a sedan was insane that thing can litterly beat a lamborghini huracan for 1/4th of the price
I have had two E60 M5's. BMW claimed between 4.2 /4.4 o-60 times. All the things you mention is a speed killer, they are way over weight. Few years back I watched a guy in Germany's video. He took a 2006 M5, took out all the weight killers [as he called them], not necessary items. Knocked off nearly 400lbs. Car ran 0-60 times at 3.7/3.8. I know, it's a BMW,
The design of the E60 remained unchanged and the car was produced as originally designed by davide arcangeli. Since he passed away even before the design was presented and approved, 5he design team under Chris pushed really hard to get it made as conceived by Davide. Chris can be blamed for 7 series trunk, not E60s curves.
@Nate-sq6qc I just have an over the station Bluetooth transmitter. It works OK, but I'm definitely not getting the beat out of the system, and I really don't want to install any aftermarket radios on this car.
I’m thinking about getting one but everyone keeps telling me not to. I really want one but honestly I can wait a year or 2 but I just pray the prices don’t go up due to v8 and v10 cars no longer being made.
You should be mentally and financially prepared for any potential breakdowns. If you decide to purchase one, ensure all maintenance is up to date. I have had two so far and absolutely love them.
Sooner than later is better as they will only get more expensive! Set some budget aside every year for maintenance and the more you can prevent rather than fix, the better! They’re great cars
I think you should buy one from a dealer where you can get an aftermarket warranty. That is what I did and the warranty covered so far, I would say 5k in work. That is my thought. In the last 2 years I think I’ve spent about 10 k in maintenance, alternator, brakes and few other things. Oil change every 5k. Blast to drive, not the fastest car by today’s standards, but a v10, well…. Can you imagine not buying one and in the future saying I wish I did? They are reliable and people either get them beaten to death or neglect them till something breaks beyond repair. Which pill is it going to-be,the red or the blue
While I don’t own one I would say yes get it just like any car you should have money saved for repairs just make sure to find a garage near you that will work on it taking it to the dealer will kill your wallet
Facts! I remember one night pulling up on my block casually doing 60mph with my friend from Albania his reaction was priceless he said it’s like an airplane imagine if it was the ///M5
