BMW Extended Warranty. Is It Worth It? 

I feel like I'm putting together a 'consumer watchdog' video but I thought this could be useful and relevant to people. It's definitely made me think about extended warranties going forward. Let me know your thoughts and experiences in the comments below.

Totally agree! In my experience BMW insured warranty is worth it - otherwise things can get costly! My BMW with N53 3.0 has had low pressure fuel sensor, high pressure fuel sensor and all 6 injectors changed under warranty without fuss!

if you buy the extended warranty at the time the vehicle was purchased, the prorated value begins on that purchase date even though coverage doesn't really start until your 4 year factory warranty expires. if you purchase the extended warranty just before your 4 year factory warranty expires, when does the proration start? from the cars purchase date (about 4 years earlier) or from the date the extended warranty was purchased? makes a big difference on what you get back if you trade the car in at the 5 year mark.

Hello very good information, I purchased x5 last year it came with BMW used warranty. I purchased the car in lock down and no test drive was offered what was offered is 7 days money back guarantee. The day I purchased the car and drove the car home on the way I heard some crunching noises I called Bmw and they gave me an appointment 7 days later to bring the car back to check by then 7 days was over when I took the car back, they had a listens didn’t find anything I took car back to them 3 times but was fed up as the bmw showroom was 20 miles away. 10 months later noise got worse I took it local Bmw showroom in my town they thought it’s break disks shins are making noise they replaced them and noise wasn’t fixed took the car back again and went for drive with tech who listened to noise and said I know what it is now they replaced lower arms but noise wasn’t disappeared 10 days later gear box went now the car is with bmw and they replacing the gear box. I’m relay annoyed as paid lot of money for the car. X5 has done just 52000 miles I drove full service history from bmw was sold by them even though they are replacing the gear box I’m bot happy with it I kept saying to them from day one it’s making noise but they didn’t take notice I’m very upset about it.

That's put my mind at rest somewhat - I'm about to but a 66 plate X6 M50D, tri-turbo monster, it;s a BMW approved used, immaculate condition, over -serviced by last owner so will come with a full BMW approved used warranty - I intend to take out a further warranty in 12 months as I'm petrified about turbo failure!

Hi, just to let you know that, my 135i N55 engine, coupe went in for a central locking problem, which was bought from a Ford dealer but had a full main dealer service history had been part exchanged, the warranty was a a two year RAC warranty, who have paid out to BMW main dealer for parts and fitting of a new central locking actuator and micro switches came to £600, bud did have to pay for the diagnostic check which the warranty didn’t cover, I could take the BMW monthly cover on my car, which would be £59 per month so yes, that’s good news for anyone buying a service documented car.

Is Extended warranty only available from an Official dealer or can I purchase a 135i privately and then go to a BMW dealer for an extended warranty?
