So excited to get the diverter, already had the intake and I’m already tuned and all, and a bunch of other mods so hopefully it will sound even better!
I have the GFB diverter valve , cold air intake. after the painful install i was ready to be rewarded with the “fluttering” sound. however THERE WAS NO FLUTTER. immediately i thought that i did something wrong and that i would have to tear everything back apart and troubleshoot. So i looked to the “GFB DV+” instructions on the first paragraph labeled “sound” it clearly states “it is NOT designed to make louder or different sounds.” also that “if you hear a loud fluttering sound when lifting off the throttle, that indicates that the valve is NOT opening correctly” I say all of this to say if you’re not getting the flutter
@@Bimmer11 just because you don’t have a problem doesn’t mean it was acting properly , my comment is more of a disclaimer to others who bought the part and were expecting similar results.
I have the Injen intake that I’ve been rocking for a while and loved the sounds it made like the VROOOOMMMM KTTTSSSS and then as soon as I installed the gfb dv+ the KTTSSSSS noise stopped and on top of that I don’t even hear a stuutututu flutter from the turbo like this video shows
@@dameonbletso4141 I saw somewhere that it’s because of the new spring that came with the kit (the one that pushes the plunger). If you kept the oem spring but used everything else from the new kit like the plunger and piston, you would be able to hear it. I’m not 100% sure though.
I didn't get the tuning so far,but I got the catless downpipe and resonator delete, trust me it sounds good, just letting you know check engine light comes on after the downpipe but it can only be removed with tuning. And just with the downpipe I am telling you there's big difference in power
Hey man im 18 and im thinking about buying a bmw but i cant decided if i want to get a 328i n52 or a 328i f30 n20 witch would u say is a better car for a 18 year old
I have the same set up but I’m not getting the flutter noise 😞. Do you need tune it also after installing the GFB diverter valve or should I be able to do it stock??
@@shotbynick8100 I took the inlet out and reinstalled it. That wasn't it. I think I nicked the piston of the gfb valve and on the instructions it says even invisible damage can cause it to not operate properly. I contacted their support to see if I can smooth it out but I'm getting a diagnostic tmrw so I'll reply to this thread to update you guys
@@realone9372 on the instructions it says to take it off and put it back on lol idk if I’m overthinking it or not but I don’t wanna take it off and check that third bolt is a bitc* to take out
bro i got a downpipe, charge pipe, boost pipe, intercooler, and the gfb dv on my n20 and i still can’t get this sound… can anyone tell me what i’m missing ??? i love how this sounds… i can’t stop watching it edit: the intake n turbo inlet did it 😂
@@devinbrown2287 no tune ? bro, i JUST got it tuned yesterday and still no sound really… not this sound. like i said, all of the above and a nivardi bootmod3 tune.
@@Sheloveskino tune. I have an MST intake w gfb diverter and inlet/ inlet to turbo makes this exact sound It’s the intake w the diverter to get it to sound like this
I'll be interested to see what mine sounds like finishing install tom. Mst Intakte ( shorter style), Mst Turbo Inlet, Ftp Boost & Charge Pipes, Vrsf Intercooler, GFB div valve no tune or exhaust work yet
@@joshziemann9896 it’ll make the sound you looking for w all that. i was really only missing intake and inlet pipe. i got a lot more done since then. custom tune, muffler delete, it’s FBO.
Did you ever get a check engine light? because I installed one and a check engine light came on, on my BMW 328i 2014 and I wanted to see what you did and if its a normal thing or not
@@Bimmer11 with the diverter valve you didn’t add anything to it outside of what comes in the box because I hear about people adding some yellow spring or something?
@@Bimmer11 and one more question bro the 320i n20 can handle a stage 1 like 260-280 hp without any problems for long time? what do u think about this?:)
@@Bimmer11 turbo flutter = non-dispersed air rushing back towards the turbo, so yes it will damage your turbocharger in the long run - that's why the BOV was created
Bro I've noticed many people can't get the flutter sound even with the intake and dv+. Mine does the flutter sound identical to yours, I was wondering if that means that our DV is stuck closed or something like that. I LOVE the flutter sound but I have a chinese replica DV, compared it to a real one and they are IDENTICAL, even the spring load, I'm still worried tho.
Have you looked into this? Same here bro. Mine sounds like this and I can't get it to actually blow off. It did it at first and after the first day it was nothing but fluttering. Makes me think I have something else going on. Maybe it is stuck...
@@christophervalencia763 I've talked to GFB (even tho my DV+ is a replica) and they told me it's common to happen this and what you can do is change the GFB spring for the OEM spring. I still haven't done that, too much work to get the DV+ off haha I did inspect my turbo after 10.000mls of the fake DV+ use and the propeller is still 100%, no play at all. My car has 90k mls
mine are the same plain jane ones i imagine u got it’s a factory upgrade that who made ur car picked. i can’t believe the man who built my car paid for a seat bell chime but not better headlights 🤦♂️
So I used to have a 428i and mine fluttered, I had a cold air intake but did not plug in the CAI sensor and had the diverter valve. Funny cause they sent me the wrong diverter valve it was actually for the Dodge Dart. It was off by one part number but I still installed it lmao it was a disaster of a fitting but made it work. Hope this helps
Makes no difference it’s an N20 the 320i and the 328i are exactly the same except the tune is different so the 320 has less power that’s why people remap the 320 with the 328 tune
@@StockTurboN20 My 320i xdrive has 10:1 and normal 320i has 11:1 so its a bit weaker overall.. also there are some differences in the power delivery and also the diameter of the exhaust midpipe is like 10mm smaller on 320i
