Hi Foreigner, I have just bought one and so far very pleased with it. I wanted a load lugger for scratching, touring and camping. It had to have a lower seat and be reasonably manageable for weight. There is more than enough speed and torque for our roads and as I am 67 y o speed is not my priority. Gadgetry is more important to me, sat nav, TFT, cruz control, and the dynamic suspension all work and are essential to my riding. It's frugal, the service intervals are reasonable and not too costly unlike my just traded inTiger 1050 sport. My local Triumph dealer dealer will certainly miss my contributions to his bank account. If you are in the market for this type of bike it's worth a test run.

Like u l just bought the f750 and love it so far. I am 70 yrs. old and disagree with u on the power. I recently owned a Triumph t100 and still own a 2016 street twin and in dynamic mode this bike is a lot quicker than both the triumphs!

@@terryhaught9976 ok Terry. First off the Tiger sport is very torky and while not out and out as fast as a sports bike it could shift. Also I have only had a couple of outings on my new 750 gs. I dont think it could match the tiger for speed but I never bought it for that. You are right the gs has all the speed you can use in every day riding. Enjoy your new bike bud.

Struan... You wrote that you have the short seat. I am vertically challenged (5' 5") and would need the lower seat. is it comfortable? I had the low seat on my BMW R1200 RT and it was like sitting on bricks. And even with the low seat I had to wear "lift" boots, which gave me an extra inch and a half. Just wondering about comfort before I even go for a test ride.

Renting one of these for my A-license test after being on A2 for two years. Seems like a terrific bike. Can never go wrong with a bmw can you :)

Thanks for the great review. I rode a 2000 mi trip in Patagonia on this bike and I agree with your pluses and minuses. Smooth, predictable and stable on the pavement, while competent and safe in the ripio (dirt). I too thought the rear brake needed adjustment to be as grabby as I wanted and even adjustment alone might not satisfy some. The TFT screen is AWESOME and I wouldn’t buy one without the package. My rental had a windscreen extension and I was really happy with the lack of buffeting (so I cant speak to stock screen). It also had more knobby tires fitted. Plenty of power for my taste. I had little adventure bike time before this trip (was a street rider guy) and the bike’s enduro mode kept me safe and was confidence inspiring. With street tires it would make a great tourer, even at highway speeds.

Great review. I enjoyed you going through the suspension and riding modes. Great explanation.

TF at 50secs you say that the bike is smaller. It isn't, it is lower. The cockpit and ergonomics are exactly the same as the F850GS. The difference is in the height of the suspension which makes it a better and more agile road bike. I agree, the engine is excellent and feels much the same as the F850GS being electronically mapped to 77BHP and has the same power and torque as the F850GS until 6500 rpm when the 850 pulls harder.

@@TheForeigner68 Thanks for the helpful summary - it's a bike I'm considering. I think that the 850 is longer as a function of the taller suspension - the rake angle will mean the wheels end up slightly further apart, plus I think the 850 has a larger front wheel.

I would like a redesign of the F800GT, into a F850GT or S850XR, with all the new technology the GS models got.

Hi guys, update to my previous comment. Bike runs nicely so far and I enjoy riding the bike. However two immediate issues of concern to me. The quick shifter is really a decoration (in my opinion) I see it as a gimmick so far I have found NO benefits from its presence that have made my riding better or easier. The one positive side is that working the clutch normally seems to work extremely smoothly and easily. Second issue is getting the bike into neutral and that is proving to be a chore, constantly. Just saying.

I'd really miss mine if I didn't have it. Works so smoothly now that I know how to work it properly and I only use the clutch in 1st and 2nd gears. Yes, like a dishwasher, air con in the car etc I could live without it, but I find it superb.

Excellent review. I have been planning to get this model for a while now.. I have the Triumph Street Cup which I love and is fantastic. but, The F 750 is more sporty and can go a bit off-road too. while, the Street Cup is a cafe racer. 2 totally different bikes. Hence, my next bike would be the F750 gs. Debating on this.

I drive daily to work in the city and also the highway( Commuting) and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, which one? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike & sport tour bike so what is your opinion? can you advise what your own height and inside leg is please? Not getting personal or anything but you make observations on wind turbulence for example and it will matter how high you are.

'not as sporty as the f800gt' there is nothing sporty about the old f800 engine. not saying its a bad engine but sporty is certainly not one of its characteristics. this new engine is much racier than the old lump both in sound and response and I would wager a good deal faster - even in the 750 tune

Thanks for your response. Can any BMW dealer reverse ( electronically remapping ) to increase the horse power of 750 up to 95 ?

Hi Foreigner! I got rid of my BMW R1200RT this summer. Yes, I know. Mostly because I found it way too big commuting wise, as for short afternoon trips. So, I´m looking into the midrange segment now. Haven´t ridden the F750GS as yet, but it seems like an easy and light bike I can chuck thru city traffic with ease, filtering wise. However, I wonder what your take is on this bike´s touring ability. I hear you mention the bike works well on motorways ("comfortable for doing long hours"). I know it´s unfair comparing it with the R1200RT, by all means. But the F750GS has somehow become reluctant leaving my attention. Maybe I wil be disappointed after taking it for a test ride? Or maybe not.

Can you please explain to viewers: If 850 and 750 have the same engine, why one has 18 horse powers more than the other one?

It's bmw making people buy the 850gs just to get the extra power even if they want the off road ability

Nice bike but it begs the question that if you want a BMW road bike why not just go for the F800R?....cheaper with 15 bhp more on tap!

Hi MultiMac999 good question and it's one that was relevant to me. I looked at the F800 R (I previously owned an F800ST) I sat on a couple and liked the look but decided against it because there is no fairing for protection when touring. The pannier set up for load lugging also did not suit my needs. My opinion of course.
