really sad to see people just go for max drop without understanding what else changes along with the drop in the suspension geometry and why more doesn't at all mean better
I put B16 PSS10 "comfort" models (30mm max lowering) and it's a crazy night and day difference in my F36 BMW. I usually put them 5-5 clicks in the front-rear and it's already much better than the stock sport suspension. When i put them in 1-1 clicks (most comfortable) to ride in poor quality roads, bro, it's crazy comfortable, like a mercedes, very smooth, very composed, filters almost all the imperfections on the road. Then to have some real fun in a track day or mountain roads, 8-8 clicks front/rear and goes around turns like a kart hahahaha Don't hesitate to buy B16's for your car!
Hi Bryan, thank you for the great review. Would you say that adjustment range between modes for damptronic b16 is as narrow as the range you mentioned for the F30 adjustable kit you have? I have an F30 with EDC hence the dilemma between damptronic or manual adjustment kit
Hi there 🤝 Thank you for the review. I am seriously considering buying Bilstein b16 set for my Mazda 3 MPS. But I have come across some different informations. Could you please tell me what version are you running, because I heard there is normal and comfort version? I have seen some b16s with one spring on the strut or two springs on the strut as main spring and little "helper" spring. Thank you for your reply 🍀
I know this is a little old of a video but how do you think these compare to the Bilstein Evolve Damptronic shocks? Evolve seems to have wanted more distinct settings, more comfort and more sport outta their setup. I’d love to know what you thought.
They’re very similar but we also really love the Evolve damptronics because of the extra features they provide as well as being able to work with any aftermarket springs or height adjustable springs that fit the OEM shocks. We actually installed them on Andrew’s F80 M3 to compare them side by side with my Red F80. The video is linked below, at the 5:40 mark is when we install them! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wpQn9raK5vo.htmlsi=gE584ICibQ8s2DSA We have both the B16’s and Evolve’s shocks on our website at KIES.COM or if you have more questions, reach out to our team and our guys will be happy to help out!
Thank you. I’m a huge fan of this page. I have a question. I am looking to purchase the 345i xdrive touring. However, I only want to get it if I could lift it the way a the Subaru Crosstrek looks. The Crosstrek has a ground clearance of 8.7 inches off the ground. What are your thoughts? Is this possible without complicating things?
Can I get these Bilstein Coilovers without lowering the car much? I live in NYC and the roads are horrible... I dont want my daily driving to feel like my car is rolling down the side of a mountain every day
B16 on my f34 340 rides incredible I have the dampeners on 3 out of 10 (1 being softest) and shes rides like a dream I dropped it an 1-1/2 riding on 19in rims looks OE+ very subtle but the performance is next level shot hooks an books
Great review thank you, now I know which one to get for my F32.. I had to cancel my order unfortunately because of the long lead time but I plan on eventually getting the b16 with EDC control like you mentioned in the M3..
No. I have B14s on my F30. The ride is a little rough. A few guys have swapped the rear springs out to match the front. One guy swapped all 4 springs. There’s a few threads on bimmerpost about it. Personally if you live in an area where roads are bumpy like New England, may want to go with KWs. It’s drivable but awfully bouncy.
Not bad video. However, I think dropping a car is, nowadays, overrated. You want it to look dropped by rolling the fenders without actually dropping it...plus, with a Plus 2 wheelset upgrade. I would add sway bars, too, and set the coilovers on the softest or near the softest setting for the street...like number 2 or 3. I read Eibach, too, might be the ultimate in ride quality. More supple tires, too, like Michelin Pilots or Continentals would help, too. To me, BMW seats are way too firm. I would definitely try Recaros.
