this sound is just normal. Some of the noise is made by fuel injectors. valve clearance is better to be little too lose, rather than too tight, even if it works bit louder.
My motorcycle was making the same noise, so I replaced the tensioner and cam chain, but the sound didn't go away. I couldn't stand it and eventually sold the bike.
Do not worry the ticking come from the fuelinjectors . Put some twostrokeoil in the gastank , Just some C.C. it will lubricate the needels in the injectors .You can hear the differerens. Some noise come from the camchain at startup before enouge oil is on the camfollowers. it is also normal.
Its mostly exhaust header leak which causes overheating, see how discoloured the headers are near the head. seal the exhaust with your hand (Darwin award if you deserve it) and if the motor does not slow and then stall, thats the major source of the slap and tickle sound, check all your exhaust gaskets starting at the front on this one. This bike has been used in a lot of stop start city riding which accelerates wear like nothing else. frayed edges to the loose belt caused by constant on/off the power riding. Experienced F800 riders with ABS tend to end up riding the rear brake more than most. Great idea for all magic ant, especially with this new high ethanol E10
My friend, You not know what you are talking about. Exhaust leak?? Every F 800 headers looks like that because of the stainless simple walled pipes .All such pipes get colored by the heat. And the tickle come from the fuelinjectors .Nothing else , I have two F 800 .I know from that and from my workshop ,Do not make up things please.
