I think I’d crash trying to adjust that while driving 😬 even looking at it now I’m not sure what half those icons do, and there’s so many!

I remember when my 1986 BMW 318is had crank windows, manual mirrors, no a/c then I got an 1994 BMW 325is convertible with all the powers stuff and a/c it was awesome then my 2002 BMW Z3 M roadster had heated seats I was think top of the world luxury now you can tell your car my feet are cold.... that brings new meaning to turning it you too 11.

Please can we have physical controls instead? The ones on the current G30 are just fine.

Is it an option to pin buttons for seat and steering wheel heating on the screen?

So how do you adjust stratified air so the face vents can be set to a colder temp like in iDrive7 or using the knurled knob in earlier models

Great experience

It became less intuitive when you took the physical dials away. For best individual control’s for climate control systems they all have to be in one tactile and easy to use place. Screens are not tactile. Therefore they are not easy to use. Therefore there is a possibility for higher proportions of distracted driving. I suggest that when we are making climate control systems we create one “pod” to house things such as air direction, temperature, and seating setups - which swivels interactively like a video game control for the direction of flow (but bigger and with a small circular screen to show different commands). This way it’s always in one place and leaves the dashboard nice and clean and simple, since multiple commands are in one place. This also leaves space for intelligent air ventilation systems, which channel air in different places depending upon preferences, and are slimline to save vital cabin intrusion, otherwise lost to traditional ventilation systems. This also helps the cabin have a minimalist, uniform design language, again keeping driver safety and comfort at high priorities.

How to turn off the AC without turning the system completely off?

Why oh why…far too much attention taken away from the driving experience. On my current car I don’t even need to look at the centre console to activate the seat heating or the steering wheel heating or any other basic function - simply know where every button is placed as I would expect in a clear logical manner.

Is it possible to set the pre-climate condition so that the steering wheel heating is not activated?

I have an i3. BMW said it is 95% recyclable. Yet BMW doesn’t allow an upgrade from 3g to 4g. How tech backwards you are.

Can you please make it so pulling back on the Rotary dial brings up the Climate Control menu? Similar to how pushing forward on the dial brings up the favorites menu. It's often hard to hit the touch screen while driving. Removing the climate control buttons was possibly the 2nd worst decision you've made in modern times, the worst being the ugly big grilles of course. Thanks

To be very honest with you the AC on the IX40 is very weak , air flow is also weak. This is the only thing which I hate about the IX40. Hope to see a better AC for EV models in the future

Where is air cleaning mode that cleans PM2.5 ultra-fine particles? Volkswagen, Volvo and Land Rover have this function, but BMW doesn't. What a shame!

This looks horrendous. As a UX designer by trade I would never put this many controls on a car touchscreen, at least while it was moving. I'm horrified that it's even legal to do so.

Physical controls are less dangerous, less distracting specially for heating and demisting. Phone use is already aknowledged as dangerous in many countries and yet playing around on a tablet which could be compared to checking facebook or text messages is being encouraged. Please think safety before you design something cool.

If you need to make a how-to video, it's too complicated.

I mean, if you need to post an "how-to" video for operating a climate control there is: a) something wrong with you're operating system in the car or b) you think youre customers are to stupid to operate a climate control....

looks like a terrible design. what a failure. my 2020 x3 m40i was apparently the peak of BMW infotainment and interior design, except the hot/hold center vent setting was moved into an electronic menu. i cant believe BMW decided to ruin more of their interface in the same way.
