Yeah, but the range is bad compared to the price of the car. This car should have a 500km range with this charging speed. Then it would be better. Oh well, we need to wait for those new Panasonic batteries and see which car besides Tesla will get them.

@@smaldo19 I think it is just a matter of time till they offer a RWD Model Y. I think at the moment the demand for the Y is very high, so they have just no need to offer a cheaper 2wd version.

Ioniq 5 (pre-production model) has been tested on an Ionity charger in Germany by Car Maniac and charged 51 kWh in only 17 mins! That’s in a league of its own...

@@abraxastulammo9940 Actually, Taycan RWD charges 225kw vs Ioniq 5 232kw. Of course, peak and theoretical, but that sub 90k Taycan is not actually faster then Ioniq 5 in charging speed... Ant btw. Ioniq is quicker to 100km/h :D well on paper ha ha...

Leaving out the e-tron which is very different, what I find interesting is that the oldest (EQC) is still quite competitive falling in the middle for now of the BMW and VW. The average power added per hour from 10-90% are approx 86Kw for id4, 90 for EQC and 95 for ix3.

ETron might be thirsty, which only matters in long trips, but it’s HPC charging curve is world class. Benefit is that you don’t need to ninja a charging strategy in long trips. Just drive until your anxiety level and charge while getting a coffee.

What would be interesting would be to compare old e-tron 55 with 2021 55 w and w/wo sportback to see what kind of improvements that have been made in range/efficiency.

Speed Comparer is great. Hilariously funny if you realize what kind of music plays in the background. And of course everytime he mocks driving in the US and other stuff in his angry german role. A top tier RU-vidr for sure, just like this one Norwegian guy who makes videos in his 2013 Tesla Model S.

I prefer to compare "130 km/h speed range per charging time" eg from 10 to 80%. I think it is the best way to compare cars in terms of long distance traveling.

A friend did a test. About 160km/hr is optimal for a 2013 Model S. It might be faster for a newer Model 3.

Well the Top-Buffer on the battery is there because Deutsche engineers have a lot of experience with the idiocy of the people. So even though you can set a maximum charging percentage on each car the average user will set/leave the limit to 100% and then complain that the battery is degrading so quickly, claiming that "EVs suck", etc., etc., yadda yadda .... you know the drill.

I think it's also nice for the user because they don't know any better and just see it charge fast instead of getting disappointed and annoyed at the last 10%. Then it will also prevent people from hogging the chargers for a long time. I think it's the smart way to do it.

Just excuses...that sounds more like marketing bullshit. People are not as stupid as they claim (although there are always some no matter what), their changes only make them stupid when suddenly faced with reality...

@@minjung3350 not marketing bullshit (well I'm sure some of it is) , but it's mainly for warranty. Not sure how it is in other countries but in Germany there is a warranty for the battery by (almost?) every EV. In general it is something like 70% remaining after 8 years or 160.000km whatever comes first. Also all cars tested in this video openly state their net capacity which is 100% SOC in the computer and the charging station. The gross capacity can also be easily found in the information sheets for the cars

It basically looks like range gained on e-tron at 100% is about the same as iX3 on 90% and they both reached that almost at the same time :) With iX3 being cheaper as well :)

If the e tron massive buffer is sufficient to protect the pack in 5 years from now the etron will be a steal on the after market.So maybe one day i will get it!!

charging for etron impressive! stays pulling about 140kw for so long compared to others! Imagine that charging curve in a more efficient car like the ID4 platform? That would be amazing. Audi etron Q4 maybe?

We have several regions in germany where HPC are very seldom. You are not able to reach it with a low battery you have to charge where they are. Therefore a flat charging curve is much more important than rather useless Peak-Charging Speeds.

I like German cars but only the e-tron is able to match Ionic 5. The first charging Videos are really impressive. 18 mins 10-80... I hope the id4 update will enable a lot if speed...

Incorrect. The battery is 82 kWh gross and 77 kWh net (nominal). And 75 kWh is what you actually get from it after discharge losses.

Germans are being smart. If you have an 8 year warranty for the battery, don't let users damage it by charging it up to the physical 100% otherwise in such a long period of time you will have many chances that the battery will degrade enough to have it replaced under the warranty

Not really. People don't charge to 100 % daily on modern EVs with charge limit. Even e-tron owners set it to 80-90 %.

​ @Bjørn Nyland As a software engineer I always expect people to do the most unexpected things, if there's no limitation from the vehicle people are prone to think that what they do is not going to hurt the vehicle, because we all know charging it up to 80% is only an advice. For example, every now and then you see news about how autopilot should be used and people still think that the car can drive without any driver's attention or making up ways for not having the hands on the steering wheel, so you can guess what they think about not about fully charging it. Experienced and intelligent people like you know for sure how to keep the battery in a healthy state but I wouldn't expect that from people that come from the ICE world and are not enthusiats about the EV world.

And a E-Tron 55 is 30.000€ more expensive than the iX3... 74.000€ for a iX3 and 107.000€ for a equally equiped E-Tron 55. And the smaller E-Tron 50 is still 95.000€, so 20.000€ more expensive.

From a value for Money I pick the ID 4 especially if VW increases its charging speed as everybody is expecting. The fully loader ID 4 cosy les than 60000€ do at least 15000€ less than the IX3.
