Both cars are stunning. I am forever a BMW fan ever since I was little but that Inline 5 sounds so damn good. Honestly I would take the M140i personally because I prefer the way it looks inside and out, and the B58 is a very good engine for the money
@@neil5242 I’m gassed! I’ve been dreaming of this moment for a long while. And as you mentioned that’s the first thing I’m going to do; (Michelin PS2-all round).
From experience the pilot sport 5 is the best tyre for the car. Lots of grip in dry and wet. Also gave me the best 0-60 out of all the tyres i’ve tried
Great review! I watched your review a few months of the bmw 440i gran coupe and it persuaded me to buy one! I love the B58 but still not brave enough to swing it round the round abouts like you🤣
I'm not sure what mods are available for the RS3, but I'd just grab the M140i, grab a downpipe and high pressure fuel pump (£600-1500 depending on how naughty you're feeling about complying with emissions regs), and put BM3 Stage 2+ on it. I'm biased. I did this with my M240i, but it's such a nice car to drive, and it's an absolute rocket ship. Quicker than your 450HP Porsches, quicker than a Lamborghini Urus. The B58 is an absolute marvel of an engine. I just happen to like the 2 series form. Choose your wrapping! I've had mine now for around 2 and a half years in tuned state, and it's never gone wrong. Best car I've ever owned!
I hate it when people compare the two together. The RS and the AMG are your hyper hot hatches. Your golf r, s3, cupra, type R is your hot hatchbacks. The m140i can't really be put in a neat little box it is a one-off rear wheel drive 3l inline 6 little beauty. So please if your going to compare a full fat RS then maybe a more suitable car would be full fat m2 yes?
He states this at the start of the video. The comparison is purely can you save your cash and get the m140i for less money without any loss of enjoyment, driver engagement, power and speed etc…
@@Yhyujss well done to you. Some people might not, and may be asking themselves this questions. Lucky for them, he’s made a video. And I enjoyed it. He can make a video of whatever he wants.
Im actually thinking of changing my m140 for an rs3 beginning of next year, i think stage 1 vs stock the bm would be faster on a straight dry road but im getting a little tired of the traction struggles in our climate, what have we had this year for summer? A month of good weather and then rain again it just doesnt do the beemer any justice
Stage 1 m140i would be faster than a stock rs3, but a stage 1 rs3 would obliterate a stage 1 m140i sooo 🤷♂️ Even a stage 2 m140i would get taken into gappington stan villain style by a stage 1 rs3 🤣
@@Erwinbonkington1 yeah that's what I was saying for an m140 plus 400 quid for a stage 1 it'll gap an rs3 on the roll but stage for stage/ stock for stock the rs3 is quicker, not only that but for what 4-5k towards handling mods I might as well use that money as deposit for an rs3 to be in a better all around package
Im not sure about that in all honesty, I had a stage 1 m140i, and then bought a mk3 TTRS and tuned it to stage 2 and by no means would it have obliterated the 140. TTRS being lighter than an 8v RS, I think you’d be surprised. Looking back, as good as the TTRS was, I miss the 140i more.
Personally I think it’s a little unfair to put an M lite against a full fat RS, i think the M2 would be a better comparison however with that been said I think the M140i does itself proud. I’m a big fan of both cars 👌🏼 P.S I can run fairly consistent 0-60 runs ( Dry 😅) using draggy around 4.7 seconds without launch control. Cool videos BTW
Yeah tbf My own 140i will do 4.4 all day on Michelin ps5 tyres. This car has the super sports which on a dusty road just don’t grip. Gotta keep the test consistent though.
Not a truly fair comparaison, i understand that you didn't have an xDrive lying around but still. Also, as an option BMW offered adaptative suspension on the F series.
RS3 can be playful if you fit bigger rear arb get a proper geo setup .. I went to string theory Ben is a genius .. my car after I could power slide camp corner at coombe over 100mph after much to the Marshalls surprise . I asked for it to be tail happy and it was even lift off oversteer no issues after !!
Wins in a rolling race? I take it you mean a tuned m140i vs a stock rs3? Because any sort of tune on the Audi would smoke a tuned m140i. It’s a proper man’s car the rs3, the m140i is for people who are broke on minimum wage and can’t afford an m-car so settle for a cheap tacky 1 series with a big engine 🤷♂️🤣🤣🫣
I’m a bmw fan boy and drive a 125i, the 60 sprint was surprising although you can clearly see once the 140 is moving it’s rapid!! Would pick the Audi though, interior looks better and the sound of that 5 pot is very nice indeed and reminds me of the Audi Quattro 2.2 from many moons ago. Yes M2 would be a better comparison, but it was an excellent video 👍
Considering how you can pick up high spec examples at under 20k it is hard to argue that the 140i isn't the best bang for buck. However the interior, sound and overall quality of the daza especially for uk conditions and with their prices dropping too they edge it imo
The fact you’re comparing a BMW ‘m lite’ to an Audi RS model says to me that BMW ‘M’ cars are streets ahead of Audi in terms of performance. How many videos do you see of S3’s being compared to M cars? The m140i is the perfect project car. Great engine and box, just throw some cash at suspension, diff, brakes and your onto a winner.
I always said that out the box the Audi is better day to day and I’m a bmw fan since young but the rs3 is just abit more special in my opinion the bmw isn’t a full m car so u can’t compare them really. Love both engines but bmw should’ve made a full M version with lsd and suspension even given the uk a xdrive and just a true M then I feel it would’ve been better. So you get a m140 you spend say 10k in mods but your still not in a full M car.
I drive and Audi... But prefer BMW. IF I WASN'T SO BROKE, I would be getting a sensible, relatively comfy and decent performance 530d x-drive. (2021 version) But I earn less than average. Ah well!
The M140i is a better car than the RS3, despite the value difference. The engine is superior and if you're a true petrol head, rwd will give you more smiles per mile than 4wd. I've owned both at the same time, but have kept the M140i for 7 years. It is a fantastic car and I'll probably never sell it. Finally, I don't know how you got the RS3 to run 30-70mph quicker than the M140i, because that's the exact opposite to every other review. The RS3 is quicker off the line, but the M140i will beat it on the roll.
@ParagonCarsLondon sorry mate, it just isn't. In fact, it's not even that close. RS3 8V facelift you tested here, vs M140I, according to Fastest Laps: 60 - 100 kph 3.9 s vs 2.9 80 - 120 kph 3.9 s vs 3.1 80 - 160 kph 8.3 s vs 7.3 I like your channel though. Keep up the good work.
@@ParagonCarsLondonyou're wrong mate. There's something definitely wrong with that M140i or it wasn't being driven in the same manner as the Rs3. Every single other review proves the M140i is the quicker accelerating car. I mean your 0-60 is way slower than claimed makes me think that particular car isn't running right.
@@neil5242 fastestlaps tells you that an RS3 is slower from 60-100kph than it is in this video from 30-70mph in 3.4? Are you sure you aren’t looking at in gear data? I’ve just checked myself, and that’s exactly what you’re reading, take note of what gear it says they’re in on the left in those comparisons. It matches with what he claims about torque, but sitting in 4th at 60kph isn’t exactly optimal for either car let’s be real
Mate, what are you smoking? The M2C is a far superior car in every way to the RS3; even the 2024 model. The RS3, actually any fast Audi, is a blunt instrument. You sit way too high so you feel like you're in church, the engine is mounted in front of the front axle which is why it understeers like a b*stard, and they aren't particularly reliable either. Audis has, and always will be, a VW in a frock. Just my opinion, of course😂
@@neil5242 I was talkin about the generation shown in the video and u don’t compare a comp to the regular rs3 But even so the new rs3 with its “understeer” still beats the m2 around a track. And that “vw in a frock” was the blueprint for the Bugatti veyron, huracan and urus but wtv u say buddy 😂
