BMW R1300 GS exceeded my expectations and I had a great comfort ride and awesome performance! BMW Motorrad Haneda kindly allowed me to test ride the new R1300 GS motorbike. This is a video of my first ever ride on the new R1300 GS.

Your disclaimer is noted and your opinions are appreciated. What I do feel about this bike is; it has its exclusively unique and peculiar design even though it is another GS. It is essentially different from the designs of GSs or GSAs released thus far. As such I don’t think any of the aftermarket panniers, boxes and bags will go well with this bike. The only boxes that will fit are those BMW genuine ones for this specific bike. And I don’t think any head light guards released for this bike so far will fit it. I think this head light has to show itself as it is with no filters on it. And I believe this bike excludes any outsider companies’ equipment, sorry to TOURATECH, MoscoMoto, Lone Rider, etc., in terms of the design despite their good efforts of new development. It’s kind of mysterious but true. I would say this bike is just on its own. And this must be the very charm that it has. This compact and sophisticatedly stylish bike does differ from all those adventure baggers. I go for baggers, by the way. If BMW is to release R1300GS “Adventure”, too, I do want to see how it looks. Anyway, I think this bike threw a stone into the pond of adventure bikes that are presently available. So when is the delivery of your R1300GS scheduled?😁

I’ve found you get what you pay for. I just picked up a new 1250 GSA. Sure it’s about $7000AUD more then an Africa Twin, but you get even bigger tank range, better saddle, better ergonomics, crash bars, pannier racks, more torque, more power, better suspension, low maintenance shaft drive, hydraulic clutch (so you don’t have to check cable tension) lower centre of gravity, 20,000km main service intervals (10K is just oil and filter) now, you could correct some of those things, but the price becomes a lot closer once you’ve modded the Africa Twin, and then the BMW comes with 5 years warranty and 3 years roadside assist, whereas Honda just gives you 2 years..
